LSH got a reaction from Tom Guernsey in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
One of my favourite films of the last ten years. Armando Iannucci and his writing team are utter geniuses. His BBC political satire The Thick Of It (a British precursor of sorts to HBO's Veep) is one of the finest TV comedies ever made.

The Death of Stalin, first rewatch. Black comedy at its utterly blackest that's a sort of twisted hybrid between a horrible historical drama and a Monty Python romp (complete with Michael Palin). What makes it work is that it consistently plays two both of these sides, with just the ending fittingly taking on a slightly sobering tone. An outstanding ensemble cast (Simon Russell Beale, whom I've sadly not seen in anything except apparently Branagh's Hamlet - and I don't assume "second gravedigger" was a big role - is fantastic), cinematography with perhaps a touch of documentary style that also cleverly uses framing and focus to further some of the comedy, as does the editing and sound design (as when a serious of rhythmic gunshots is capped off by a transition to a new scene that starts with a door slam perfectly in sync with the shots), and a brilliant score that makes it really hard to believe Christopher Willis isn't Shostakovich back from the dead writing under a pseudonym.

LSH got a reaction from Edmilson in BETTER CALL SAUL - spoilers allowed for all aired episodes
I really enjoyed this episode. Top marks to Seehorn for her direction... even for a mid-season 'filler' episode, it's visually interesting and you can still feel the tension simmering away in the background.

Robin Williams was perfect. I can't imagine anyone else coming close.
An actor with impeccable comic timing and yet he could play 'forlornness' and 'loneliness' so beautifully. None of those other actors (as much as I love some of them) could have portrayed Alan Parrish as well as Robin.
God bless him.

Meryl Streep's first and most recent Oscar wins are separated by the same amount of time as the Hindenburg disaster and the Apollo 11 moon landing.

@Jay Thanks for the links about the book. I can write again to the two music editors if you think this version is not the right one.
@bollemanneke Thank you for your interest in the book. It is the culmination of ten years of research and four years of writing. The source material comprises 400 referenced sources, including 70 exclusive interviews with directors, producers, and musicians, as well as 30 hours of recorded interviews with James Horner’s family and close associates.
I can't remember if I shared this here. Sorry for the duplication if I did:
Here is an overview of the chapter on Titanic that will be in the book. The first three lines (39 pages) tell about the creation of the score, month after month. All this work was possible thanks to James Horner's collaborators who shared their memories for dozens of hours. For example, in this chapter there are exclusive recollections from Jim Henrikson, Joe E. Rand, Simon Franglen, Sissel, Eric Rigler, James Thatcher, Sara Horner, Ian Underwood. I'm sure I'm forgetting others.
There are of course quotes from James Horner, James Cameron, Celine Dion from the already known interviews. The fourth line at the bottom is the musical commentary.

I always loved that song Life Begins At The Hop. The video was always a place I thought I'd like to be incredibly high within. But then all their music videos were a bit trippy.

Blue Sun is a truely lovely album. The piece Miles To Go... Before He Sleeps is on several of my personal jazz compilations.
It's a gorgeous recording too; warm and smooth. The Miles Davis nods are prevalent, in cue names and feel.

I'm pretty sure that the 1985 'Heaven Help Us' master tapes were used to create a new mix for "A lucky Ticket" and the second part of the "Lovejoy Chase" (the scenes in the engine room). One can definitely hear it's the same recording but a different mix with some instruments dialed out (most noticable the synth percussion). Interesting enough, the Uilleann pipe solo (when they try to board in a Lucky Ticket) is not in any of the "Heaven Help Us" tracks or anywhere else so I guess JH recorded that specifically for that scene in 1997 . You can notice the rather dreadful edit too (stereo fade out from original recording to fade in solo pipe in right channel back to original recording).
For the first part of the "Lovejoy Chase" (when they start running and get into the lift until they stop in the engine room), this is all the re-recorded version from 1997, quite a different mix and a more pronounced/clean sound.
J-BM it would be interesting to hear what the music editors have to say about it if they remember it correctly
