Will John Williams score Steven Spielberg's new UFO movie?
SyncMan replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Furthermore, just because Spielberg 'will make' this UFO movie, that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll be directing it. It could be that his production company, Amblin, is putting up the money to have it made and that he'll hire a director to it. If that is the case, then that director will be hiring the composer of his choice, not necessarily JW. On the other hand, I'm not overlooking the idea that the chosen director may bring in JW to do the music, but not puttng my hopes on that, at this earlier stage. -
According to the renter's page, here is the ensemble used for that concert: https://www.avexclassicsinternational.co.uk/performances The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra The National Youth Choir Ludwig Wicki, conductor Why the RAH doesn't credit the ensemble is anyone's guess. BTW, did anyone notice that the Aliens LTP concert is no longer on the Avex's roster?

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK - Live to Projection Concerts
SyncMan replied to Incanus's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
If you go for the lawn seating, won't you be listening to the orchestra from the speakers instead of directly from the stage? It would be cheaper to bring a boom-box to the backyard, pop-in a Raiders CD, sit-down and listen. I would hold-out in attending that concert at an indoor venue. I would also look into the Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra's schedule. They do 3 LTP concerts per season. However, the orchestra announced thier 2024/25 schedule last month and they have only 1 LTP concert. https://www.cincinnatisymphony.org/tickets-and-events/calendar I suspect that that schedule isn't final. For example, there are no concerts in April 2025, but there are, at least, 6 concerts going-on this month (April 2024). So, they may add more concerts to that schedule from now until September. I've seen many USA bookings for Raiders come up recently and, according to my Googling, the CSO has not done this concert yet, so, it is a possibility that the CSO may book it. My own situation: I know there were rare USA bookings of the TITANIC LTP concert and I, intentionally, past-up attending a booking of that concert at this football statium in Thousand Oaks, CA back in 2019. Later that year, this indoor concert-hall in Montreal Canada announced a booking of TITANIC for the following January 2020, so I went to that. Right now, the San Francisco Symphony is doing it at Davies Symphony Hall next year. So, patience pays off. -
What Live To Projection concerts have you seen and not seen?
SyncMan replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
I stopped going to outdoor venues 6 years. The last time I went, it was raining. I had to wait outside in the rain for 30 minutes before the pravilion seating area of the outdoor venue would be opened. By the time it did, I was soaked. When the concert started, it was still raining--you can hear it hitting the wooden structure of the stage which made listening to the music distracting. -

Film Concerts Live (FCL) has removed the 'Raiders' LTP concert-rental from their roster. Before After So, now an orchestra/venue has to go to Disney Concerts to rent it. I wonder if Disney Concerts will make changes to it? -

New SACD: GERHARDT & NPO • STAR WARS & CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND
SyncMan replied to Amer's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Does anyone have any news on whether Dutton Vocallion will be handling the SACD release of ROTJ featuring Gerhardt and the NPO that came out on the RCA Red Seal label in 1983? -
This may seem like nothing special but the New York Philharmonic has just announced their 2024/25 Season schedule and one of the LTP concerts they booked is ESB for June 2025--they have done all the SW films during the months of September and October of 2017, except for TLJ. Members of this forum will recall that it was the New York Philharmonic that handled the world premiere of the franchaise's LTP concerts. Last month the Toronto Symphony Orchestra announced their 2024/25 Season schedule and they have booked ESB for May 2025 after doing all of the SW films,--especially the TLJ, which they did last May. Why are both orchestras choosing, out of all the SW films, ESB in their new season and not ANH? Does this concert contain a new cut of the film? Will there be any new musical arrangements for this concert that are different from the ones that were used over the years? Perhaps, @BSOinsider look into this for us and see if, at the least, these booking are just a coincidence.

When I saw the credit-block of the Batman poster and read who would be doing the music for this hyped-up film, I was not impressed with the choice of the composer--only because it was not either JW, or Jerry Goldsmith, or even James Horner. Just prior to the release of the film, I listened to a radio interview with one of the film's executive producers, Micheal Uslan, and he was so enthusiastic about the Danny Elfman score that he compared it to the music-styles of Max Steiner (yes, that was the composer-name that Uslan dropped). I was 18-years-old when I saw the film in the theater. Although the theatre was Dolby-Stereo equipped, I could not hear the dialogue very well, much less hear the the music to get any impression of it. Later in August of '89, a radio-show in New York City has played the score-CD album in its entirety (I was tapping soundtracks off the air with my cassette-tape deck in those days) and that was when I was taken aback by the unique orchestrations from this rock-music front-man. I remember waiting with anticipation for his follow-up score, 'Nightbreed'.

I've installed the plugins into a 2023 build of Audactiy. I'm using a 4-minute music file that is 16-bit/44.1khz stereo file, but when I select 'OpenVINO Music Separation' , 'the 'Preview' button is grayed-out. I tried-out another desktop where I have both CPU and GPU Inference devices and the 'Preview' button is still grayed-out. Is there a step that I may have missed?
