First of all... ...thank god for that. Secondly, we found out about the LTP concert in Aug 2019 and Richard Donner passed away in July 2021. I am wondering if he had any involvement in the preparation of this LTP concert, like giving approval for having any music for scenes that were unscored in the film's final-sound mix. Did the music track for the film’s sound-mix use the Len Engel's temp-track-- the pre-recorded bits--of Goldsmith scores like ‘Rio Conchos”, “100 Rifles, “Morituri”, and “Stagecoach’ or was it the Lionel Newman-conducted recording of these said excerpts?

My desire to buy complete film-score album releases came in the summer ’87 where I went to the movies for a double-bill-‘Masters of the Universe’ and ‘Monster Squad’. I enjoyed the action music in MOTU and I wanted to buy the album. I finally got it--the first album release by Varese--and I was disappointed that none of the action cues were on it. Since then, I started watching rented VHS tapes where the music was of interest and making notes of the music cues (I would give it names and action descriptions) and the duration of each cue with a stop-watch. If I was interested in buying the CD, I would take my list and check it against the track-list on the CD cover at a record store. At that time, I didn’t take into consideration that the music heard in the film would have been edited down or that music-cues would be combined for the album. The result of my idea of collecting the right CDs for me was a hit-or-miss. I was happy with ‘High Spirits’, but was disappointed with ‘The Fly II’. In the latter, the one cue I wanted to play on my stereo was not on the Varese CD. It’s where Brundle, Jr ransacks his room in searching for a hidden camera when he finds out that Bartok broke his promise on not having the kid under surveillance. Christopher Young’s music for that scene had some good fury coming from the orchestra. I guess some of us want a soundtrack album to have every cue of music from the film because we want an assurance that we get the music that we liked from the music, even if this album had a bunch of cues that we didn’t like.

In the theatrical cut of that sequence, there was a splice in the end of the music-cue, “Total Logic”, so that it would fit the length of that sequence. I am thinking that the reason that new footage of the San Francisco sequence was created was because the filmmakers wanted to keep that music-cue unedited.

I would think that releasing final footage of a highly anticipated movie over 7 months before the film’s release would not be in Universal Studios’ programming. That was certainly the studios attitude’s according to director Colin Treverrow and composer Michael Giacchino, who introduced the screening of the final-cut prologue from 'JW: Fallen Kingdom' at the Kennedy Center, Washington, DC on May 30, 2018 during the world premiere of the JW-LTP concert. They asked the audience to shut-off their phones during the screening. To make sure that request was followed during the screening of that sequence, security guards were walking along the rows and looking at audience members to make sure their phones were not exposed.

I have a theory as to why no other orchestra in the world, outside of Switzerland and the UK, is booking Superman…and it is not because they don’t want to do it. The Citi Light Symphony Orchestra probably paid extra to FCL, the rental company that created the concert, to make sure that no other orchestra does this concert before they do. So any orchestra that wants to use this rental would have to schedule it after the time that Citi Light finishes with it, which as it stands now is after January 28, 2022. If it were the pre-pandemic days, we would now see orchestras have dates for ‘Superman’ from January 28th until, at least, the end of 2022. But since the COVID hasn’t ended yet and Citi Light has postponed this concert 3 times due to health concerns, I’m thinking that the other orchestras are waiting until after Citi Light's January 28th performance to start booking it. If the other orchestras had started scheduling the concert now and that Swiss orchestra had to postpone it again, then those other orchestras would also have to postpone and reschedule at a time after Citi Light's new performance date. The other orchestras do not want to go through another period, again, where they have to disappoint patrons and beg them to not ask for refunds on their ticket prices. I’m sure these orchestras have lost enough money. Maybe someone who is more experienced in the orchestra-administrative end, like @PoggoAOTS can weigh in on this.

We’re only hearing this out of one person. Why not wait until other people in the industry corroborate with Karam’s statement. Knocking a pedestal out of James Horner is hard work for an 80+ year old man to do by himself.

At least this new Matrix film has inspired a USA orchestra to book 'The Matrix' L2P concert for July '22. The last USA booking was over 8 years ago.

Not necessarily. Mondo could use the 1978 WB Records album master and keep the production cost low. If they use the LLL master, they would have to pay an extra licensing fee to LLL for the use.
