  1. I feel like it will be one of those scores that gets "discovered" after he is gone. So many absolutely gorgeous and magical moments in that score.
  2. Haha yeah I was looking through everyone else’s after I posted mine and was shocked to only see one other!
  3. 1. E.T. 2. Phantom Menace 3. Last Crusade 4. Saving Private Ryan 5. Philosophers Stone 6. BFG 7. Angela's Ashes 8. War Horse 9. Hook 10. The Terminal I feel like any of these could be put in any spot depending on the day for me, but this is a good list I think. I guess I am more of a fan of his scores from the late 90's onwards! Definitely super hard to narrow it down to 10
  4. I don't know if this has ever been mentioned before but I found it to be pretty glaring: Also this one comes to mind, same inspiration:
  5. I am interested to hear peoples thoughts who have seen the Barbie movie. It sounds like to me that there is a little tad bit of Desplat's music left over in the final film during the scene where Barbie finds Barbra in the Mattel headquarters. There is a bit of what sounds like diagetic music playing from a radio that sounds to me like an orchestral, quirky version of the main theme of the film. From my recollection, it gets quite big and colorful as well. I am curious if anyone else noticed this? If it is his music, it seems odd that they would include it but not credit him, but if it isn't him then it is a very convincing Desalt sound-a-like. It is also curious that the score proper wasn't released in anyway.
  6. An Ailing Monster.wav Here is a mock-up of An Ailing Monster from JP!
  7. The single 6/8 bar is to show the musicians what the click will be doing. You can see it on top of the bars in some places places. In this case they are prepping the players for the switch from 6/4 to 6/8. The treble clef is likely just a mistake, which are bound to happen in any situation:)
  8. Hey guys, Did a quick mock-up/transcription of the opening of Kenobi's Theme yesterday and wanted to see if any of you fine composers had any thoughts on the mock-up/mix/transcription? Would love to hear what you all have to say. Thanks and hope you all are doing swell! I used Cinematic Studio Strings, Cinematic studio brass (horn solo) and woodwinds (clarinet melody doubling), and BBCSO Double basses doubling the CSS ones as well as some BBCSO Bass Clarinet when the strings first come in for some warmth. Other than that, just some EQ's on the strings and reverbs!
  9. I was coming home from work the other day and I heard my neighbor blaring JW's Cello Concerto, I have never met another person that enjoys listening to his concert music so it was quite a shock!
  10. It isn’t pure speculation but I am fairly confident that these sessions were demos only. There were only three days of sessions and you typically need far more than that for a score of this size.
  11. The sessions this week are demo sessions I believe!
  12. A week or so ago via Gordy Haab's Facebook. Still could be anything but the timing is interesting
  13. He actually directly quotes the the fourth movement of his Cello Concerto in this cue from Angela's Ashes:
  14. It's definitely not anyone from 5Cat studios unfortunately, no clue who will be doing this though. I am thinking a likely scenario is Kevin Kiner, but who knows.
  15. The Wow.. I have a real soft spot for this score and I hold it highly as one of my top five favorites. I cant' really even think to pick a favorite theme either. Every time I listen to any presentation of any theme, I always think "yep this is my favorite, no doubt" then the next one comes on and its the same. If I had to pick I think "With Malice Toward None". Especially because of when it happens at the end like @Disco Stujust mentioned. This score is just masterful and a pure expression, it doesn't get much better! The theme comes in at the exact perfect moment. Goosebumps
  16. Man, I really hope there is a Patriot expansion coming. I would LOVE to hear all that glorious unreleased music.
  17. Also wanted to share something a little darker from the same film. This Scene is a very explicit scene where Dr. Goebbles (the head Nazi propaganda person, don’t know the offices title sorry lol) is threatening the main character because she messed up a line in the script and at the end he assaults her basically. I will admit I feel like this one isn’t as well programmed but still open to feedback as well! All the material from this is derived from a short little theme I have for him which was a fun challenge. I didn’t add the link to the second cue 😅 my bad. Anyways here is that! https://www.dropbox.com/s/v2uvtozq2mm730s/DN_AXS_Invisible(3m21)_v01_03003408_02172022_0000 2 MIX.wav?dl=0 Thanks a lot! It means a lot from you 😁
  18. I haven’t posted on here since before I started my graduate school studies at Columbia College Chicago for Composition for the Screen so I thought I’d post a little cue that I did for a film we are rescoring in class! It’s a neo-noir historical drama set in WWII. It’s American Traitor: Trial of Axis Sally. The film is honestly dreadful but I feel like the canvas for music is pretty nice! I can’t share footage but basically the main character walks in the courtroom at the beginning of the cue and we were instructed to score her confidence and image of herself (which is a seductive confident woman). I tried my best to fit those parameters then the latter half of the cue underscores the introduction of the judge and the presentation of the charges levied against her! Hopefully this provides enough context! Would love to hear any feedback! Samples used are all Cinematic Studio Series except the harp which is Orchestral Tools! programmed in Cubase 10.5 Pro https://www.dropbox.com/s/h83uan0rhaat4jq/DN_AXS_MildredEnters(2m1)_v01.01_02004122_02122022_0000 2 MIX.wav?dl=0 Also wanted to share something a little darker from the same film. 19. So this is a bad thing? Someone who can write colorful scores in the vein of Williams but bring their own tastes to it is better then? BTW I agree with this notion 100%. I definitely think that there are elements of the Battlefront scores that does have a unique voice outside of a JW clone though.
  20. I'd wager this has been discussed before due to the lack of mentioning him, but what are everyones thoughts on Gordy Haab being the one to keep the "Star Wars sound" alive?
  21. I haven't really been following the development of the new indy film in any detail, so I am not surprised I missed this! Thanks for the clarification!
  22. I wasn't aware of this delay of release, that is why I acted surprised. I know how film budgets work:) Seems like more and more studios are doing that these days!
  23. If they finish way ahead of schedule, maybe they will release some music early as a teaser?
