He didn't just 'go mad', Fleck has been mentally and physically abused since childhood and the events of this film seem to be the catalyst that sets him off to confirm (or give credence to) that mental illness.

Re-touched and Expanded set of a series I did for the Quadrilogy a few years ago.

The first set is based on the 2007 Trilogy DVD Collection:

The second is an alternate for the first set, with Raiders using the 2012 re-release IMAX poster by Mark Raats:

And the third set is based on the 1986 Special Collector's Series VHS of Raiders:

It’s because lightning struck twice, in 1977 and 1980, and that’s the only reason why they are still making star wars today. Well, it’s the main reason. They are not going to make Star Wars movies that don’t have more than one degree of separation from the originals. Unless/until lightning to strikes again.

None of the local theaters in my area even sell tickets online. It's first come first serve. As I'm always the first one there anyway, I don't have to bother with online tickets at all.

This is totally cool though. I feel like the benefit of JW music is it brought tons of people into classical music and movie scores in general. I know I wouldn't have gotten into all that stuff if it wasn't for getting introduced to Williams way back when.

I do not leak. I learn... and theorize.

I thought the full trailer might have been released yesterday... but it will likely premiere next Monday. But yes, I think that line (by Emperor Palpatine from Return of the Jedi) will be how it ends. A predict similar line will appear in The Rise of Skywalker... and I think I know who he'll be welcoming.

Regardless, I certainly managed to welcome everyone back to this thread.

It's perfectly okay! I don't particularly like Revenge Of the Sith, Attack Of The Clones, or the Phantom Menace.   It just shows that you have a real opinion and you don't blindly love all just to be loyal to the franchise.

After some pondering, here are my serious questions:

    1. You seem to feel that music in the style of your film scores isn't good enough as "serious" concert music. Why's that?

    2. How do you deal with the significant amount of stress that's undoubtedly associated with film scoring?

    3. As you know, it varies a lot how much an orchestrator contributes creatively to a film score. For which scores of yours have the orchestrators made the greatest contribution?

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with disliking a Star Wars movie - I disliked three of them!  People obsessively complaining about and expecting an apology for (?!?) a movie they don’t like that came out two years later is really bonkers.

It's decent.  Still has that pumping Zimmer style most of the time.  I don't hate Zimmer's music, it's just that I haven't grown to like it.  After Gladiator, At World's End is probably Zimmer's best score.

I'm not a Star Wars nerd, and I don't consider myself to be a music nerd.  My dad saw A New Hope at a theater when he was 10, and he' been seeing SW films at the theater ever since then.  My first film I saw at the theater was Revenge  Of The Sith. (although I do not remember) Star Wars is just an awesome line of movies that I would like to pass on to future generations.  Long live Star Wars.

As for film and classical music, I have not given them much thought until I joined this forum.  Until just last February, I only listened to music by John Williams and bits by Zimmer and Horner.  I did not listen to full classical peices until I joined JWFan.

There’s just no way the end credits get an entire day: even half a session would be a lot, especially since they’re rarely one of the more difficult parts, and there’s not the added difficulty of precisely timing to picture. The original Star Wars end title was one of eight cues recorded the same day!

It's like I said on the other thread:. I don't know if this is Arnold who is not invited to score the big blockbusters, or is it because he personally prefers to score British TV series these days. He and Don Davis would elevate considerably the quality of film scores being delivered for hollywood blockbusters.

Well, on Davis case, at least they're making The Matrix 4, so they may rescue him from low budget movie no one cares and orchestrating Randy Newman's Pixar sequels.

Like many of you, I'm partial to ESB, TPM, and TFA, with ESB probably topping it. I just love the way it's shot - really beautiful and interesting cinematography. And the choreography strikes a nice balance between realism and coolness. Love the pacing as well. TPM is fun for the spectacle and visually arresting acrobatics. TFA is great for the opposite reason - it really leans into the duel as part of the characters' story, serving up a less flashy, more realistic approach. And I love that the glowing lightsaber props actually illuminate the surroundings. I wish every film before it could have had that.

The idea of a sister actually predates the concept of Vader being Luke's father.

And yeah, I suppose it never was a very good idea. Its certainly this idea that was the germ of Star Wars morphing into a series centered around familial ties, which is a trick that honestly wore thin really quickly. The unabridged script to Return of the Jedi was also going to reveal that uncle Owen was Ben's brother. Gimmie a break!

To be entirely fair, in earlier iterations of the original Star Wars, Luke had quite a big family (as many as two brothers, a father, an uncle and aunt and a cousin), so in a way the seeds for it were always there.
