The French Dispatch looks more like the yearly Desplat nomination to me.
I would personnaly have chosen:
Cruella by Nicholas Britell (personal favourite) Kaamelott: Premier Volet by Alexandre Astier Encanto by Germaine Franco Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings by Joel P. West Nightmare Alley by Nathan Johnson Now I'll have to listen to the other less famous movies that I didn't have the time or opportunity to see and listen to
 

I'm going to take a wild guess, but I have the feeling Encanto will win best animated.
 
Glad for Emma Stone and her great Cruella performance. A bit sad that Britell wasn't nominated for Cruella either although I have only listened to Encanto and Dune so far so maybe the 3 others are better.

I though the film was terrific!
Very funny. Special effects were outstanding. And the cast were very good.
I also felt sometimes that it looked and felt like a early Spielberg film. In a very good way. 
 
Rob Simonsen's score was so much better than i thought it would be. I only heard one score of his and that was very different than this one.
It's probably one of my favorite scores of the year.

After reading the replacement news, I revisited the score and decided to do a little write-up on the themes that develop throughtout the first season's score, masterfully crafted by Sonya Belousova and Giona Ostinelli.
 
The score of the show is a great example of leitmotivic writing, with several themes developing through the season, and interacting with each other as the characters storylines mingle with each other. What makes it also especially interesting it’s the instrumentation, unique to each of the themes, which sometimes transfers to another theme to further explore the relationships between the characters.

Some episodes have some standalone ideas that relate to places or characters that only appear in one episode

So this is it. There are a lot of different motifs that play through the season and I hope that Trapanese can expand at least some of these, and I really hope that he can maintain at least some of that energy that the score for the first season has.
 
Whether it be the catchy main Geralt theme, the emotional developmentof Ciri's theme or the beauty in the simplicty of Yenenfer's theme, I think the composers crafted a score that really delivered on what the show needed to stand out, at least in terms of its musical tapestry. And I must say that it's one of my most listened scores of the past few years, especialy because of the pure entertainment value of it.
 
Altough I must say thatt¡ the album situation is quite a mess and really needs some trimming down and some rearranging of the tracks, but it's still quite a great listening experience, which I highly recommend.
