  1. There are some cues that remind of the Thomas Newman of old. Big sweeping orchestral work. Then there are cues that are typical of his later career and sound like a mix between Elemental, 1917 & Tolkien. Then you have the low dark growling cues which for me on album just really don't work. Especially the long 7 mimute cue. Overall I enjoyed it. I will make my own playlist of the overlong album to enjoy it best. It's still not fantastic, but it's the closest we've come to the Newman scores I love in quite a few years.
  2. Tracklist for the score. Releases Nov. 15th. 1. Gladiator II Overture (3:01) 2. Lucius, Arishat and the Roman Invasion (8:34) 3. I’ll Wait for You (5:51) 4. Ostia (4:11) 5. Angry Baboons (2:00) 6. Strength and Honor (3:21) 7. Acacius Returns (1:26) 8. City of Rome (1:55) 9. Defiance (0:55) 10. I See Him in You (2:59) 11. Acacius in the Colosseum (6:43) 12. Let the Gods Decide (4:08) 13. Macrinus’ Plan (3:34) 14. I Need You to Do This (3:52) 15. Smooth Is The Descent (4:22) 16. Now That I Have Found You (2:43) 17. Echoes in Eternity (2:15) 18. War, Real War (3:30) 19. The Dream Is Lost (2:45) 20. 3. The fading out of the voices is like that because it's like that in the episode and the decision was made to leave it like that on the album as well.
  4. I'm only basing on it's appearance in the finale because that's where it's biggest and fullest statement is.
  5. The unkown theme plays beautofully in the final episode. It plays over a montage of the different storylines very well. Based on the scenes it accompanies, I think it's a sort of loss theme of sorts. Let's hope Bear mentions it in his blogs at some point. And I'm hoping it'll have more of a present in the future.
  6. Episode 8 album is complete chronological. No cuts between tracks. Some pauses inbetween cues at points, but not a lot. And after seeing the episode, I actually think Shadow And Flame plays very well as one track. But if there would be a cut it would've been best just before the Galadriel statement at 9:54
  7. This is not Númenor, but The Faitful theme. And at 0:07 and 0:27 in Sauron And Celebrimbor there are the Rings of Power chords. 1:23 is also the Faithful theme. But sounds like it sort of segues into Estrid's theme. 2:40 is Estrid's theme
  8. Do remember that a large part of the S1 album is themes. If you take those cues out it comes pretty close to the S2 album runtime.
  9. Quite something for a big name magazine to just close down like this.
  10. Well we hear it in episode 4 very quietly right? When The Stranger think Bombadil is with someone. Or am I mistaken?
  11. "Music is enough for a lifetime. But a lifetime is not enough for music" Beautiful!!!
  12. That the Adar/Orcs theme. Plays when Adar is mourning I believe, so it's in a slightly different register.
  13. Based on the footage in a trailer for the season finale, I think that they'll be plenty of new music in the episode that's not on the season album. More stuff in Rhûn & Númenor especially.
  14. First trailer for Maria from Pablo Larraín (Jackie, Spencer) with Angelina Jolie playing Maria Callas.
  15. I just read that that she passed exactly one year after Michael Gambon. That's weirdly bizarre in a way.
  16. What I think is so great about the career she's had is that every generation thinks of a different character when they talk about her. Just phenomenal!!!
  17. Very very sad news. One of my favorite actresses of all time. No words
  18. There are parts of this score where it feels like Coppola asked Golijov to make his music sounds as much like Max Steiner as possible. I don't like everything, but there are some nice parts.
  19. Ballerina starring Ana de Armas. Takes places in the same world as John Wick. Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, Angelica Huston & Keanu Reeves all reprise their roles. Takes place in between John Wick 3 & 4.
