I enjoy Romer's music. I really like Wendy & Luca.
But his sound, to me doesn't fit with ASOIAF after Djawadi has made it his own for over 14 years.
I could very well be surprised, but right now, I don'r like it.

The review from Empire Magazine praises NIN's score for Tron Ares.
QuoteThe real MVPs, however, are Nine Inch Nails, whose staggeringly brilliant soundtrack dominates the entire proceedings. Not since, well, the last Tron film, with Daft Punk’s masterfully sweeping orchestral-bleeps mashup, has a film score elevated its material so significantly, so impressively. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are old hands at this now, but still: by turns twinkly intriguing and bone-rattlingly industrial, tech-noir by way of a grimy Berlin nightclub, it’s an album which deserves far more regular rotation than the film itself.
I mostly agree with reviews from Empire and been reading it monthly for years. But I do NOT agree with their statement here. Especially the part about it being the first score in 15 years that's elevated the film it accompanies.

I also wish to extend my thanks and appreciation!!! @Stéphane Humez
It's been fantastic getting these expanded scores released officially and I can't wait to see what else is in store for the future.
Thanks so much for all you hard work!

So it appears that Dan Romer is scoring this. First time a project from ASOIAF is not scored by Djawadi.

Can't say I'm too happy about this. No idea what it's gonna sound like, but I guess we'll see. Or hear.

Zhou Yu's Train - Shigeru Umebayashi
This is from a Chinese film from 2002, which I honestly never heard of, but the score was either re-released or released for the first time last week.
It's a quintessial Umebayashi score. There are plenty of waltzes and I just really thought the whole thing was wonderful.

Oh yes. I agree on that front. It was a bit weird.

But boy that explanation that her apartment in LA burned down with all her stuff was so weird and awkward and not given the weight it would truly have. Why not just write that she's visiting briefly in between filming blocks of the big show she's on or whatever?
I believe that was her apartment in New York, not in LA. It was the apartment she was in all throughout season 3.

His score for Play Dirty releases tomorrow.
Sounds so much fun!!! Orchestra, jazz and some synths.
It has shades of John Barry, mostly in the Main Titles and Aftermath

Only Murders In The Building Season 5 x Episode 6
This was another fun one!
I really love that Meryl Streep keeps appearing and she's not just here to get a paycheck. It really seems like she is having a lot of fun. She's also just really funny and her chemistry with Short is fantastic.
Also really loved that Da'Vine Joy Randolph keeps coming back. She's also great!
Dianne Wiest appearing again was also a hoot. She still fit so great with the whole vibe of the show. She also had some funny moments, but the scene with her and Streep was surprisingly heartfelt. Really well done.
I'm loving this season so much more than the last. I think I actually laughed or at least chuckled out loud once every episode. That didn't happen during season 4.

Which other book is holding you back?
"Doktor Faustus" by Thomas Mann, by any chance? ;-)
Nothing special, but I still needed around 5 or 6 chapters to finish it, so I wanted to do that first. Just taken me a bit longer than expected

I haven't started with my copy yet (Which arrived 2 weeks ago) because I'm still reading something else.
But I was reading the Empire Magazine this weekend and they wrote a review of the book. They were ecstatic about it and had nothing but praise. It was so nice to read, especially now that I'm almost done with my other book. Can't wait to get started!

Very good film (although depressing in its last part), with a great performance by Adjani, which was nominated for an Oscar (I guess her nomination mattered more that it was coming from a foreign film).
About the score: I consider this Mahlerian string-heavy score by Yared to be his magnum opus.
If you like Mahler, I think you should listen to it. I would welcome a complete release.
Recently discovered Yared's score. Absolutely wonderful

There's been a couple of scores this year that weren't on my radar at all when the year started, some not even till a week or so ago, but which I enjoyed immensely and were such great surprises.
Presence - Zack Ryan
Short, but oh so beautiful!
Requiem - Yugo Kanno
It has a lot of different styles and it's maybe a bit chaotic at times because of that, but it's done with a lot of control that I think it actually works really well.
Queen Of The Ring - Aaron Gilhuis
Not sure how to describe it, but it's a sort of rock/country mix. Not high art or anything, but I really enjoyed it.
Nonnas - Marcelo Zarvos
It's light and very typical when it comes to comedy/drama scores, but I enjoyed the Italian flavor to it.
Long Way Home - Charlie Jefferson
Another one of those scores that's on a compositional level rrally intricate or anything, but I just like the vibe of the whole thing. Could just put this on while going for a drive or something. So nice.
Red Sonja - Sonya Belousova & Giona Ostinelli
It's been mentioned in this thread before, but only really listened to it for the first time yesterday. It's a mix between their scores for The Witcher & One Piece and I quite enjoyed it. The main theme is great and there were moments that somehow reminded me of Horner (especially during the trumpet performances in Damnati Training)
Highest 2 Lowest - Howard Drossin
This is basically a Terence Blanchard score that he didn't write. Really liked it.
Americana - David Fleming
Best score of Fleming's career. Excellent runtime and I just really love the soundscape he has created. Score like these don't come along often, but I always love it when they do.
The Threesome - Keegan DeWitt
Some moments I don't really like, but the moments it goes more in the direction of a romantic drama it really excells!

After watching the 4th episode of Gen V S2 there's one thing that I keep thinking of.
Why is there no logical explanation for when Jordan changes? Or did I miss something?
One scene they're a he then a she, but I never figure out why? They have the same powers in both forms right?
I do think Dean Cipher is the most interesting character of the entire show at the moment.

So annoying that they cut all the MCU themes appearances from the album!
Loved that we got those in What If S1, but it's a shame they stopped with that.
I would've really loved if the Thanos / Black Panther fight was on this album, but alas.
