My dad had a room upstairs where he kept his music collection. He has worked in the music industry for over 35 years, so he has quite the collection from a range of different artists from around the globe.
Since he passed away earlier this year, I go up there 9nce in a while to browse a bit and sometimes pick some stuff out to listen to.
He could appreciate film scores but it never really was his thing. Hence my surprise when he had the following album standing in between the rows of music.
I immediately took it out and put it on and without noticing the 2.5 hours just flew by. What an incredible album with music by a great composer.
I might not be able to ask my dad why he had this, but it must've meant something for him to keep it.
The whole thing was just wonderful.

Many of you were very kind when my Father passed away last year. I want to believe that this forum is more than just a place to discuss film music and stuff. It’s a true community, a band of brothers.

I think back to two years ago when one of my best friends died. The support that I got from JWfan was very comforting. It would be remiss of me if I didn't offer that same support to a fellow JWfaner.

tomsmoviemadness got a reaction from Gabriel Bezerra in Hans Zimmer's DUNE PART TWO (2024)
Look, I'm a big Zimmer fan, so disappointed that the score is not elegible. But he won for the first so it's also fine.
The only thing that I have a bit of an issue with is that The Academy needs to make sure they follow their rule. It's still not really clear why and how they decide these things with one score being disqualifed and the other not. Why is Beetlejuice Beetlejuice elegible? That's so much reused music.
But think over the past 20 years only 4 scores were actually (kind of) deserving of the win, so I'm generally not in line with the decision the Oscars makes. Both in there score categories as a lot of others, and that gets worse and worse with every year.
When it comes to scores, personally I think the IFMCA is the best at choosing the best scores. But the whole thing remains a weird thing so I'll just keep choosing my own favorites😉😁

tomsmoviemadness got a reaction from Tydirium in Stephen Gallagher's THE WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM (2024)
My personal main gripe with the score is that it tries to be Shore, but it doesn't succeed. Not in the level of detail in the orchestra and soloists, the size of orchestra and especially not in it's thematic material. The only stuff I'm able to point out as themes is the stuff by Shore.
Personally I like RoP more than this. It's nice, but I actually wish Gallagher was able to put more of a personal stamp on this.
That's just my two cents about it. Maybe it will have a different effect on me after seeing the film.

Just like the musical, this film is alsp based a book. In the book there is a lot more meat in the second half which they now have space for to adapt.
Schwartz has also announced they'll be 2 new somg for the second film. So I think there will be plenty of story to tell.
