What exactly wrong with the KOTCS music? At least the sessions have complete Jungle Chase which is one of the best action tracks in the whole franchise and may I say the one of the Williams finest in terms of action scoring. Warehouse stuff is great, Academy chase is great, finale stuff is great too and e.t.c. Soviet theme is cool and the Skull motif itself is very creepy. That Peru cue is pure cheese and I freaking love it.

I've finished Dial right now and I don't know how to react to it, honestly. The album is 100% frustrating and I feel that the actual movie will have a ton of highlights. Also for the action packed movie, as it was already called by some reviewers, I don't hear enough representation of it. On the other hand, the score sounds excellent, the recording is stellar too.

P.S. I think that pretty much every original Indy album is lackluster, the same goes for the Star Wars.

Yup, drumpads cut is on the album, and I'm thinking that insert with Bond theme in the end was added because this build-up in the ending have led to nothing, and it's quite an excellent celebration of this rocket going through the BMW into the goons car.
Film version absolutely rocks and I'll take it any day over the original.
Also Backseat Pilot in it's original version is very fun and bombastic, but it lacks suspense of the film version.
Original White Knight is almost the same as the film version, except this is a clearly different take and intro is a bit different, and there was no melody which sounds ultra-similar to the Tina Turner's song for the Goldeneye

Arnold is the only one who can handle Bond, in my opinion. If John Barry have recommended him, it is definitely means something.
Maybe Powell can take a spin and do something interesting with it.
Plus he is most likely my favourite composer after JW.
    EDIT:
Actually George Martin introduced Arnold to Barry and he was very complimentary about his work. Plus Arnold had won Grammy and sent some his tracks to aprroval from EON when he did Shaken and Stirred album with covers and that how it went. Arnold also is a life-long Bond fan.

There is so much leitmotifs it's bonkers.
Main theme, From Russia With Love, Surrender, love theme for Paris, Kaufman, Goldeneye-like motif in the White Knight which reappears in the Grenade, NATO, Vietnam, all ship things have it's own motif including sinking (The Sinking of the Devonshire is heavily connected with the all final stuff), villain motif which reappears in the TWINE, Harpoon missile almost exploding/ship self-destructing ostinato in the White Knight/Carver Gets It, three-note "Danger" ostinato which featured in all Arnold-scored movies except Quantum, damn

I'm really hate EON for this dumb strategy. Nothing will happen to the marketing of NTTD if this scores will be released, except hardcore fans will be pleased.

mxsch got a reaction from enderdrag64 in Why Williams almost always butchers his original albums?
Yeah I know that OG album is always 1 CD that can fit only 80 minutes of music and this is composer's intent for the listening experience, blah-blah, but why not to present some cues in full, simply connecting them into suites without doing a ton of microedits and stuff like that? Why for example Battle Over Coruscant includes only a mix of first cue with The Elevator Scene added and I can write a ton examples like that.
We also can turn this thread into another discussion of absence of complete set of Skywalker Saga recordings and lack of complete Indiana Jones box set.
Disney already have missed two opportunities with celebrations of 45 anniversary of OG Star Wars and 40 years for Raiders
If they don't want to make a contract with La-La Land why just not to do it themselves? Just hire Matessino and problem is solved. I'm sure that all this SW expansions like Solo, Rogue One, OST's for Battlefront's, Fallen Order e.t.c. sold well

mxsch reacted to Knight of Ren in The Dave Filoni / Kevin Kiner (& co.) Star Wars Thread
Hi everyone, with the recent release of the Tales of the Jedi show, I thought it could be a great idea to have a thread where we can discuss all the different projects Dave Filoni and Kevin Kiner have created together. I'm referring to all the different animated shows, like The Clone Wars, Rebels or The Bad Batch. I think it would be a great idea to have a thread where we can talk about all this different shows, with especial focus on the music composed by Kevin Kiner and his team. I think there is no other thread like this so it could be fan.

For starters, I will share my (partial) analysis on the different themes that appear through The Clone Wars show, both Williams' themes, and the brand-new ideas composed by Kiner.
The music was done by Kevin Kiner, with an array of co-composers, who provided different cues for the dozens of episodes that comprised the 7 seasons of the show. Apart from Kevin Kiner we have people like Takeshi Furukawa, David Glen Russell, Matthew St. Laurent, Sean Kiner, Dean Kiner, etc. All of them have been an essential part of the music of the show, and certainly deserve recognition as well.

During most of the show, they weren’t able to afford a proper orchestra, so they played around with samples, together with some live instruments, sometimes trying to pay homage to Williams’ sound, but others times deviating into their own style. Fortunately, for the last season, as well as some episodes here and there through the previous seasons, they were finally able to have a proper orchestra to record their score, resulting in a much more interesting sound. This will maybe make some of the listeners to not be able to fully engage with it since the sound quality is very different from one cue to the other.

This is also due to the fact that there have been only a couple of official releases, one for the movie, one for the first seasons, and then three separate albums for the three narrative arcs of the final season. This means that the rest of the music has mostly been released by the composers themselves via soundcloud, their own websites and similar places, deriving in worse sound quality than what we would have with a proper official release.
With all this in mind, I still think there are some great moments of music hidden in here, and it’s definitely worth exploring for fans of the music of Star Wars, so withouth further ado, I will get right into it, analyzing the different themes that have been presented and developed through the seasons (some of them even carrying over to other shows like Rebels or the Bad Batch). I also have to note that the thematic connections are not always clear, and sometimes a theme that’s supposed to represent something, then gets re-purposed in other episode. This likely happens because of the huge amount of music they had to put out for the entire show, which led to some sections being reutilized, tracked or things like that. Let’s get into it!

John Williams' Themes that appear in The Clone Wars

NEW THEMES IN THE CLONE WARS
But obviously, it’s not all Williams’ work, and Kiner and co. composed a great catalogue of ideas relating to many different aspects, characters and locations over the seven seasons. It’s worth noting that since most of the music is unreleased, or only released in low quality, some of the themes have smaller representation on the released tracks, and even some of them are almost completely missing (like Savage’s killer theme!), so with that in mind, let’s get right into the themes and motifs of Clone Wars (some of which, as I mentioned, carried over to other shows later on, like Rebels or even The Mandalorian). So far, I have only done the analysis of three important categories, but soon I will update this with the analysis of other themes like the Death Watch, Obi-Wan & Satine, Anakin & Padme or Ventress & the Night Sisters. But the first in line is...

    Ahsoka Tano

    The Mortis Arc

    The Clones & The Republic

    Anakin and Padme

    Obi-Wan and Satine

    The Death Watch

    Maul & Savage

    Ventress & the Nightsisters

    Smaller / Standalone Themes

I also did the themes from Rebels, which you can read down below. I will probably then also post this thematic catalogue into my blog in case anyone wants to check it out.

What are your favorite Kiner scores for this universe ? What themes do you like the most? Any theme or particular variation that I might have missed is more than welcome, and I hope you all enjoyed this little breakdown!

I've heard SFX from the movie at least in one track and there is strange artifacts not present on the original album. Stick to it.
Also track naming is strange. How second part of the Flower Pagoda battle precedes first one?
