I'm not a body language expert or anything so maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. It just seems to me in the scene that he's playing it more stoic, more Poker-facey because [Scorpion] is trying to figure out if he knows Spidey's true identity and he chooses not to give it away. I see Homecoming's mid-credit scene as a resolution rather than a set up. Keaton's Vulture is the only one who knows who Spiderman's real identity is, but since Peter is such a good kid who saved his daughter AND him, he feels he's honor-bound to keep Peter's secret. It's a dangling plot thread, sure, but I didn't think even back when the film was first released that it was going to end up going somewhere. I thought it was a decent epilogue that they put in there for the audience to ensure us that the status quo on Peter's identity isn't under threat of change for the next film.

That's what I've been doing. Where applicable I'll just stick with the LSO stuff, but the exclusive concert material is what I'm focusing on in this thread (i.e. Jabba the Hutt, Adagio, etc.), since it's original material.

I already have a few pieces off of John Williams Conducts John Williams, but you lot have convinced me to purchase it entire. What about some of the prequel concert pieces?

People seem to be fond of the Gerhardt recordings here, it seems, for a lot of the Original Trilogy concert suites, but I'm wondering if anyone has any opinions. For the newer pieces this process is a bit more simple seeing as there are fewer recordings to choose between, but opinions are appreciated.

Love the casting for this, all except for Jason Momoa. Nothing against him, I think he's a fine actor, but I can't picture him as Duncan Idaho. Ed Atterton was always the closest to what I imagined, just with longer hair. Momoa can act but I fear I think he looks to "modelish" for the role. But I'm sure he'll pull it off no problem.

I'm here too even though I voted for Horner. I love Zimmer's repertoire through and through, though. He knows how to squeeze the emotion out of soundtracks using very interesting orchestral textures, but I also love when he lets himself do a Zimmer-esque spin on a more traditional sounding score, ala the stuff he's done for Pirates and Sherlock Holmes or his recent animated film scores.

YES! One of my favorite Elfman scores along with Mars Attacks (strange pick, I know, but I love how balls out he goes with the Hermannisms on there). How can I get this/preorder this? This will be the first time I'm able to jump on a release of this nature.

Oh, you were speaking in terms of the film mix. Yeah, modern film mixes are absolutely atrocious. Compared to the sound mixes of the first films in these respective franchises (Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark), films like The Force Awakens just sound so...bad. There's just no other way to describe it.

Anthem of Evil plays pretty heavily throughout TROS. Limited grand statements, but when I listen to the soundtrack it seems like I hear Anthem of Evil in almost every track on the CD.

As far as horror film scores go, I'm partial to Herrmann's Psycho, Zombie by Fabio Frizzi, Halloween, Goblin's Deep Red, Day of the Dead by John Harrison, Phil Glass' Candyman, Scream by Beltrami...I could go on. I love the restored score for Nosferatu 1922 by Erdsmann (and Gillian Anderson by proxy) I love The Shining's score but I feel like it's less a score and more extremely effective ambience texturing, and I can't quite listen to it on it's own. As much as I am a huge fan of horror I've still missed out on some "classics" such as Re-Animator and Night of the Demons, but I love Linnea Quigley so I need to get on that one.

The Mummy Returns is an absolutely fantastic soundtrack. I love Goldsmith, but I think Silvestri's score suits those characters and that world better. The standout theme for me is the one you call the Main Hero Theme A. Such a wonderfully rousing theme that rivals the Raiders March in how much it calls me to adventure. Appreciate this write-up. Let's talk Mummy scores!

Re: SNES score remasters. I first learned people were doing this when my boy Sam Miller started his DKC restoration project. Since then I've learned that people are doing it to N64 games as well. This Youtuber is doing an excellent job of restoring the scores in higher quality sound, but he's emulating how they are heard in game as best as he can as opposed to following official CD release mixes. Yes, that's Gordy referencing himself. There's stuff he did on Kinect Star Wars and The Old Republic that gets brought back in Battlefront. There's a passage at the end of Prologue and the Escape from Battlefront 2 that ends up being the theme for Merrin (or Dathomir in general) in Jedi Fallen Order, and he brings back the Crait Loader music from Battlefront II for a brief passage in Star Wars Squadrons. It's akin to John Williams using what the forum members call the "Ludlow Motif" when writing themes for different movies, or James Horner putting that brass line in nearly every one of his compositions.

That's a great eerie version of the Anthem of Evil. Love how it crescendos a little bit in brass at around 3:33 before turning into the Emperor's theme. Anthem of Evil was one of the highlights for me in the new scores if you don't understand my enthusiasm in this post.

I think Star Wars has plenty of scale outside of the very specific thing I'm referring to. Hell, we begin the movie with the best example of scale, which is the great shot of the Star Destroyer absolutely enveloping the screen as it chases the tinier corvette. Then there's the aforementioned shot of the Millenium Falcon entering the Death Star but one of my favorite things that is done in the OT as far as providing scale is showing ships we thought were absolutely massive against objects or ships that are even larger. There's a shot of the Imperial Cruiser we saw chasing the corvette speeding towards the Death Star in Star Wars, and then in the next movie we get a similar juxtaposition with an Imperial Cruiser up against Darth Vader's Star Destroyer, which is massive. But as far as the "central pillar" thing I'm talking about you're right in that Star Wars is the odd man out there, unless we count the Death Star shots themselves. TPM has the Jedi Temple. Attack of the Clones has the Arena. Revenge of the Sith the trees on Kashyyyk. Star Wars has lots of scale shots, but nothing outside of the Death Star to induce that "central pillar" feel. The Empire Strikes Back has Cloud City. Return of the Jedi has the Shield Generator on Endor. The Force Awakens has the ruined Star Destroyers on Jakku. The Last Jedi has the shield gate on Crait. The Rise of Skywalker has the Sith Obelisk on Exogol. Note that this isn't something that any of the many Star Wars filmmakers have done on purpose and every Star Wars film has to have this in order to be considered legitimate, it's just an association game I myself play with this series so I can remember the interesting visual elements that pop out from each movie.

Ooh, Bond movie lists. Here's mine: 1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 2. Casino Royale 3. Goldfinger 4. License To Kill 5. The Living Daylights 6. From Russia With Love 7. Skyfall 8. Goldeneye 9. Thunderball 10. The Spy Who Loved Me 10 is really a toss up between TSWLM and FYEO, but then TSWLM wins because it doesn't have Bibi Dahl in it. Looking at my list, it seems I like the Bond films which I feel best represent the books whether that be in how well they were adapted for screen or just in spirit.

Yes, Jakku is really the exception. The ruined Star Destroyers really give the beginning of the movie a sense of scale that doesn't really carry through to the rest of the films IMO. I guess now that I think about it, every movie in ST does have at least something of what I've described. The Force Awakens has the Star Destroyers on Jakku, The Last Jedi has the shield gate on Crait, and The Rise of Skywalker has the Sith Temple on Exogol. But you don't really get to linger on them as much as you did in the original trilogy, because the direction is so fast paced. That's something the new films are missing completely, is just the chance to take everything in.
