Jerry Goldsmith's MACARTHUR (1977) - NEW! 2023 Intrada 2-CD

I’ve been waiting for that one to go back in-stock at their site… Do you think there is a chance any issues will be fixed before the next batch, or unlikely? I thought I read there were some sound quality issues with it? -
I see where you’re coming from; I admit it’s entirely possible that my expectations for these sorts of things have been so lowered in recent years, that part of me didn’t even expect them to check off the boxes of that checklist.

I forgot all about this! The part starting at 4:31 sounds really cool; I hope they release a soundtrack album! Sounds like this may fit nicely in the Horner/Franglen canon.

Simon Franglen's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER (2022)
Tydirium replied to LSH's topic in General Discussion
I wish someone would post an official hi-res image of that sleeve cover art with the “Music by Simon Franglen”; the stock cover image that has been floating around on the various sites has “Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” across the bottom instead, rather than what you actually get. -
Does anyone know the reason why the OST “Prologue” is the “wrong” speed? Did someone in the editing room screw up? Or did Williams decide he liked it slower? And for that matter, why did people assume that it was originally recorded at a faster speed and got slowed down, rather than the possibility that it was recorded at the OST speed, and got sped up for the trailer that everyone got accustomed to? Forgive my ignorance on this.

I love Powell and I love his Solo score, but I think he’s the sort of composer who’s better off doing a spinoff. I don’t need “new life” breathed into the final film of Indiana Jones; I just need something that sounds close enough to the writing in the other films. I’m fine with his writing on Solo because it’s a spinoff from the main SW saga, but I think his style (I’m mostly talking his use of percussion) would stick out like a sore thumb if he had been hired to do a main SW saga entry or a main IJ film.

Isn’t this year the 40th anniversary of Brainstorm? Maybe a big anniversary like this would have provided some incentive for them to finally do it…? I hope. -
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - Isolated Score Track
Tydirium replied to DangerMotif's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Has anyone noticed that from 1:38-1:43 in “Confrontation at the Tomb,” the Raiders March appears to be an insert of the version heard at 1:56-2:02 in the OST track “Germany, 1944”? You can hear the edit if you listen closely, right after the first four notes of the theme; all the background instruments abruptly drop out when the insert happens. The final percussion hit syncs up with the new material featuring the muted horns. Pretty interesting. It’s almost like originally it was just supposed to be a brief reference to Raiders March (the first four notes), but then they later decided they wanted more of the theme in there. I’d be very curious to hear the original version. -

Why do you feel that way? I don’t see anything wrong with that opinion. -

I don’t really care…? It doesn’t bother me one way or another who did what. I’m a little confused by your comment.
