Sounds like two different performances being crossfaded, with the volume on the second half starting a bit lower than it should, before settling at the correct volume after a second.

It's probably fixable by adjusting the volume in Audacity or audio editing software.

I hear it too! But I even hear it in the clip above...maybe not so much in the voice but in the background instrumental. Seems like a small oversight in mastering, perhaps. Or there was a "problem" with the original recording and this was the best fix they could come up with. Just speculating.

I hear it.  Don’t know enough about the recording, sourcing of elements, mixing, etc for this score, but there’s definitely a weird shift mid-word that doesn’t seem related to the performance itself.

Love these kind of "touching down" or "landing" gestures at the end of a big, soaring cue - reminds me of the end of "Buckbeak's Flight" as well...I'm sure there are other examples but can't think of any right now.

Listening to this now.  It's quite lovely, isn't it?

I like Horner's original, intended Main Title much more than Jay Gruska's revised version!

Woah.  That's really interesting actually!  IJ1-3 does share a lot of musical DNA with SWOT.  Then IJ4 does share a lot in common with SWPT.  And DOD shares a lot in common with SWST. Cool!

I was actually thinking of something like this yesterday, but in terms of covering both SW and IJ; you could call them Lucasfilm I (1977-1989), Lucasfilm II (1999-2008), and Lucasfilm III (2015-2023). Obviously there are years missing between them, but it was just interesting to me to notice that both SW and IJ have more or less been split up into three periods, each time starting with SW and then IJ coming shortly after.

Battle of Yavin is exceptional. It plays with melodic development in a very classical way, but Chase Through Coruscant is also a very structured cue despite having no melody whatsoever, and The Escape from TLJ is a fine example of motivic development. Maybe we can just split up his eras by Star Wars trilogies lol

The only thing I can find in DD's favour is that he probably did the best that could be done with the elements they had. I don't get a sense of any suggestion that he's a subpar engineer - as I keep saying I think there's nothing in particular wrong with the sound of the 2012 set in terms of the bits that were taken from actual tapes (the Prologue issue aside).

But I listened again to the bulk of Mike's monologue today and what strikes me most is that DD doesn't have any drive to get past the first hurdle. Tapes not where they should be? Oh well... let's just do it from what we have instead of giving some people a call and working with them for a bit to find everything.

Then there's the timely and sensitive way to go about getting SS's go-ahead for the songs, and another probable stumbling block for DD to give up on. Sounds like a different mindset and approach to solving problems between them.

I think, it wouldn't work that way.
In the meantime I believe, that Williams doesn't work for the money, but for the fun of it. You could offer him billions of dollars, but he might respond "Sorry, but I rather go golfing today." and he will do so. He doesn't have to proof anything to anyone anymore.
As we all know, he loves working, but in the meantime he just works with people he knows and loves.
And I would say, he has earned that freedom to do whatever he likes.
He is not a music factory. He is a human being.
Let us just be grateful for what we got and eventually still get.

The main idea of the interview was mainly to promote the new CD to a public who are fan of the movie but not specially into soundtrack spheres. I hope they will produce a bit more for those who may not have had the chance to order it now.

It was the first time we attempted it live. There will be a new interview in mid-January, and perhaps another one in February. I'm not revealing the guests yet.

Those fucking football heads completely fumbled John Williams oh my god.  He writes them a new theme and then they shove it in a crappy "making of" video and block any release of it.
