Ahh, only one left, thank goodness. That was very horrible of me...

Which is a better theme for Harrison Ford's love interest?

I'd have to say Han Solo and the Princess simply because of the better treatment it gets in ESB. -
I am trying to make a CD (or two) of film music like they play before a movie during the advertisements in some theaters. In my experience it usually isn't anything really well-known, just so that it doesn't create too specific a mood to alter your "pre-conceptions" of the movie your about to see. I have some of the generic stuff like "I believe her" from Contact, "My name is Robert Neville" from I Am Legend and stuff like that. Any reccomendations of other generic film music that sets a "theatrical" mood would be greatly appreciated. I also can't think of too much action music that doesn't scream this or that franchise, so anything in that department would be cool too. Thanks a lot! BTW, this is for my home theater that I am overly obsessed with.

John Williams by a long shot.

War of the Worlds, anyone? That has some minimalist material that is quite chilling. Very subtle horror...

I'm actually a classically trained musician, and my classical music collection is pretty large. Your right the Firebird is a great piece. Thanks for the suggestion about HOOK, though. Yeah, everyone pretty much says that one is a must. Thanks again.

Hello Everybody, I was wondering if anyone could give me their "absolutely neccesary" score/soundtrack list. I love film music, and have a very modest collection, and there are many, many I would like to get, but if you guys could help me prioritize, that would be great! Here is a list of what I already have: Doyle: HPGOF Eragon Sense and Sensibility Giacchino: Star Trek Gregson-Williams: Narnia - Prince Caspian Newton Howard: The Village Ottman: Superman Returns Rosza: Ben-Hur (2-cd set) Shore: Fellowship, Two Towers, Return of the King Complete Recordings box sets (My Holy Grails) Williams: E.T. Empire of the Sun Harry Potter 1-3 Indiana Jones 1-4 (Music of Indiana Jones box set) Jurassic Park Minority Report Saving Private Ryan Schindler's List Star Wars Ep. 1-6 The Lost World: Jurassic Park War of the Worlds Preference is for Williams (of course...) but I also like Newton Howard and Giacchino's sound. I generally dislike synthesizers and anything written by Hans Zimmer. I don't own any Goldsmith (gasp) so a list perhaps of his best would be nice, too. Thanks so much in advance to anybody who responds. BTW, this is the best message board on the internet. P.S. I am a poor incoming collegiate freshman...

I have been away for a very long time, so please forgive me if this has been asked before; I couldn't find it anywhere. How exactly does one obtain the music from a video game? I have Battlefront II specifically in mind. It would be great if I could get some of the unreleased music off of there. BTW, I'm running Windows 7, if that is pertinent to any instructions. Thanks so much!

Don't insult Shakespeare. King Lear is really quite a fascinating play, if only you would take the time to understand it. Oh yes, the music was top rate, as usual.

Can't stand this score...It is a pain to listen to. -

Clapping during music...absolutely classless. (I know I've been gone for awhile.) -
Previn is quite right. I never enjoyed Titanic.
-
John Williams fan. I do like other film music too, of course, but 99% of it is pure hack, not deserving the title "music" nor their creators "composers".
-
Sorry, simply had to choose Mahler.

Enough said.

TDK, although Batman Begins was also an awesome movie. They both have very different "feels".
-
They are both horrible. Neither.

Thanks for all the input! I've decided on A.I. I appreciated all the comments! BTW, I loved War of the Worlds.

I'm trying to decide which score to buy (because of funds, both are not possible at once); A.I. or Minority Report. Which do you think is better? Let me know... BTW, I forgot to say that these would be blind buys, because I've never heard them before.

Hmm, I can understand your change of heart on the 'depriving someone of the reward' point. But c'mon, it doesn't take 178 downloads and disc burnings to have a revelation that it's illegal. If the quality 'had' been great, I suspect you 'might' still be downloading. It wasn't great, and you also felt some guilt, so you ditched your CDs and shredded your files. I don't think your change of heart was about the legality side of things really. It doesn't take 178 downloads and CD burns to realize that one. While the quality may have tipped me a little, I think it was when by brother became a cop that I really thought about it again. Plus, my piano teacher is always talking to me about copyright stuff, like "I am going to let you borrow this, but don't you dare make a copy", then she gives a really good argument about it. It's illegal, stop trying to justify it. There is such a think as copyright OWNERSHIP.
