Just think of flac as individual on-the-fly zip containers for every wav file. I'm sure it's a slightly different compression algorithm, but it's exactly the same as far as how the original data is treated. It's all still there, and it will sound exactly identical when played.
-
This explains file compression pretty well. http://www.howstuffworks.com/file-compression.htm Flac works very similarly to zip for example.

Tyler Bates is the only unlistenable composer from that list.
-
Debney sounds like Silvestri half of the time anyway. If anyone was born to follow up after a Silvestri score, it's him.
-
There are now four votes for Zimmer, yet I don't see the comparative scores listed anywhere.
-
Wow. Really? I like a lot of Zimmer's music, but I can't think of anything of his that beats Elfman. This is like asking Zimmer vs Williams.
-
Following both of their twitter accounts, it seems that the two are friends, and today, John Debney posted the following: I would love to hear such a collaboration if it did ever take place. Both are awesome composers. I wonder what type of film they might work on together.
-
Of those? Up What should it be? Star Trek What will actually win? Avatar

The Grimethorpe Movie Brass is my favorite soundtrack compilation CD. I'll definitely be looking forward to seeing how well Gomalan does it.
-
It just depends on whether or not I like the source music. It's the same as with whatever pop songs are included. Much of them I will cut out, but I'm likely to leave some in.
-
I have plenty of complaints about it, but the graphics alone were enough to make it enjoyable, so option A for me.
-
It doesn't?

Who is saying that "He's a Pirate" is better? We're saying that it's more recognizable to the general public, which, as I understand it, is the purpose of this thread.

Insane can be good. Speaking of which, another composer of sorts, although not film music, whom I follow on twitter is Weird Al. He's also quite insane, and quite as funny in some of his tweets as he is in his songs. http://twitter.com/alyankovic
-
If it's posted by the composer himself, I don't see why not.
-
I would be shocked to find anyone who keeps up with movies in the slightest yet doesn't recognize "He's a Pirate." That piece is everywhere in pop-culture today.
-
Ooh, this is very tempting. If I had the extra money right now, I would definately grab it.
-
You all are going to hate me for this, but based on the description given, I would have to say "He's a Pirate."

My new favorite quote about Horner.
-
I can't believe how many people are voting for Avatar! It's pure Horner rehash. Star Trek is a fantastic and very original score.
-
I love the first two, but three pretty much made me lose interest. I'm sure I'll see the fourth at some point, but I don't have many expectations for it.

I never saw BTTF until around 1994, but then I was only born in 1988.
