For any type of big movie like this, you can just about guarantee there will be a sequel.
-
Alright, I just tracked down and watched the cartoon for the first time. I must say, I am not at all impressed. The graphics were cool, but that's about it. The voice acting was horribly corny. The soundtrack was disgusting. (about the only good thing in it was the Weird Al song, and it's not one of his best) And plot? Are you kidding me? That had hardly any plot. It was just big robots smashing the snot out of each other for an hour and a half. Now don't get me wrong. Despite all that, it was still relatively enjoyable to watch. But I could not possibly imagine this new movie not being better in all those areas (especially plot) than that cartoon.
-
So... watch the exact same story in different graphics? I'd prefer to just have a new story. Keep the main characters, and the basic idea, but don't just copy the original.
-
I've thoroughly enjoyed a lot of Bay films. Sure, they're not too plot heavy, but they're great action flicks. Plot heavy movies are cool too, but you need variety. Watching only the same type of movie all the time would get boring after a while. Sometimes you just want to sit down and watch stuff blow up.
-
I would. Then I'd see it again when it's legitimately released. Rats. Oh well. lol
-
BTW, how did you see it so soon? Are you like a film reviewer, or is it online already? (and if the latter, could you PM me the link? )
-
And.... the score? How was it?
-
Seconded. There are the bootlegs, but still no official release of the score. (unless you count the few poorly rerecorded tracks on the trilogy cd)
-
I know that a lot of film composers use MIDI mockups as they are writing the score. Do those original MIDI mockups ever get leaked? If so, does anyone know of a website or someplace to get a hold of some?

Unfortunately, they only really care about the American rating. Not a bad suggestion though.
-
I have no moral qualms about breaking their rules every now and then. I just have to be careful. It's easier though to just listen to mostly PG soundtracks. I've got some suggestions now for some soundtracks that sound really good. Thanks guys! Speakers. They're not as dumb as they may seem. If they allowed headphones, they would have no way of monitoring the music you listen to.

Best score to an old Disney cartoon is Zimmer's score to Lion King.

Wow, this thread has gone way off topic. lol Mp3 players allowed, but not headphones. Movies are not generally taken on a case by case basis because there are tens of thousands of movies out there, and to make an entire database of good/bad movies would be an enormous undertaking. It is a fundamentalist Christian School which means yes, it is non-Catholic. The racial issues were removed several years ago.
-
Yes, being a PG movie, my college would not have a problem with listening to the score.
-
Not quite. It's Bob Jones University.
-
And you obviously would not be attending this college regardless.
-
Personally, I agree, but that's not how they see it. Yeah. http://jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12277 (Starting at post #14)

It's not too bad. A few annoying things here and there, but nothing intolerable. Now the food.... You guys don't still think that he and I are the same person, do you?
-
Well, just remember that everyone who goes there does so of their own will and agrees to have these rules imposed upon them. Also remember that it's only four years (three left for me, and of course vacations taken out of that).
-
Hard to say, but remember that Narnia doesn't even have a drop of blood in the entire movie. Plus rather than having hints of a Christian subtext, it IS a Christian allegory. But thankfully, it is PG, so I can listen to that beautiful score with no worries. (And believe me, I listened to that one A LOT last year.)
-
Nada on the LotR scores. Already tried that. Too much violence. I should clarify that it is VERY rare exceptions. Star Wars Ep III is only allowed because it is one part of an overall very acceptable series of movies. Plus the music is SOOOOOO good.
-
As I mentioned earlier, the idea behind the rule isn't the content of the soundtrack itself, but rather the supporting of the franchise of the movie that it's from
-
Don't know. Those might count as acceptable exceptions. I'd have to ask.
