Actually that's kind of funny. Harry Potter is allowed, but somewhat frowned upon. In their same library, they have the HP books, AND books explaining why HP is of the Devil. lol Meh, I was pretty much expecting this to happen. I have yet to bring up my college on ANY forum and not have this happen.
-
Just because it's a Christian college DOES NOT mean that everyone there is a Christian.
-
Yeah, well I was pretty happy about a week ago, when I realized that over half of the James Bond movies are PG.
-
Pretty much as long as it's PG or below, and doesn't have a heavy rock beat. (Also, every now and then they'll make an exception for a PG-13. Star Wars Episode III for example) Also, there's no rule regarding video-game soundtracks. (They probably just haven't thought of that yet, but I'm not going to be the one to mention it. )

lol There are various ways around it. The problem is that A LOT of people there are film score fans. And almost no one has any convictions about listening to them when not on campus. Which means that people who hear me listening to the score will likely recognize it. And, if they feel like it, can turn me in. The college's reasoning behind the rule is that purchasing a soundtrack supports the movie franchise, and they don't want to support anything that may have negative elements. I don't agree with that logic, but I can deal with it for three more years.

Well.... the rule isn't too hard to get around every now and then. But it's not something I want to push my luck on. If I get caught it's quite a few demerits. I'm very happy with the college over-all. There's just a few strange rules that can get annoying at times.
-
Well that's what I do. The point is, I am trying to get more PG and below soundtracks that I can listen to while I'm there, so I need some suggestions for really good ones.
-
This is kind of a weird question, so I'll give a little explanation. I go to a very conservative Christian college, and one of the stranger rules there is that we are not allowed to listen to soundtracks on campus that are from a movie rated over PG. Now, I'm not starting this topic to debate why they have that rule, but I need some suggestions for some more soundtracks to stock up on before going back next semester. Don't bother recommending any of William's stuff, because I'm sure I already know about it, but I need some suggestions for PG or below soundtracks from other composers.

If I were him, I just plain wouldn't feel like it.

Do R2 DVDs play faster than R1? I have not heard of this before.

John William's Greatest Hits 1969-1999

I don't feel like counting them, but I've got quite a few, and not the least bit ashamed of it.

Sounds pretty good. Very smooth transitions. What program did you use? Why shouldn't he? That type of stuff is fun. Welcome!
-
I'm assuming you mean VLC? I'm having trouble downloading it. The download crashed three times, and now the site is saying that I have reached my download limit. Great.

Electric guitars!!!? Are you kidding me!? Horner pulled it off well for Perfect Storm, but for a HP movie? Well, I guess I'll wait to see how it sounds in the movie.
-
Some of you guys are so biased against anything MV/RC related, that you would never admit a good score from them no matter how great it may really be. I'm going to stick with my own opinions and enjoy the film. Score and all.

There is music playing on the web site for the Transformers video game. I'm not sure if it is Jablonsky or not, but I do know that he is scoring the game itself so it may be. It sounds pretty good. It's background music, but still not bad.
-
I haven't noticed that stuff in those movies. What bothers me though, is when some movies, during a fight, shake the camera all around so they don't have to make the kicks and punches seem as realistic.
-
Seconded. Any chance you have it in MIDI form that you could pass along?
-
I found an article on soundtrack.net about the recording session. http://www.soundtrack.net/features/article/?id=235

Very cool!

I'd be more than happy to trade Steamboy to anyone who wants it. Just PM me your list.
-
For those of you who don't like Jablonsky, have you listened to the score for Steamboy? If not, get it! I'll admit, that some of Jablonsky's stuff has been mediocre, but the Steamboy soundtrack is amazing. I'm just crossing my fingers and hoping for another one like that.
-
I thought the scores for his films "The Rock", "Armageddon," and "Pearl Harbor" were pretty good.
-
I don't know about you all, but I am REALLY looking forward to this soundtrack. Jablonsky's score for Steamboy was incredible, and I think this is another good chance for him to compose some awesome music. What are your thoughts? How do you think it will be?
