tee_oh got a reaction from ThePenitentMan1 in Kingdom Hearts is literally everything
I've been playing through all of the games as I recently bought the all-in-one collection for PS5... and OH MY GOD I forgot how good the music was.
I think it something similar to the Star Wars scores for me... I loved the movies so much as a kid and I didn't realize until I was much older how much the score was contributing to my love of the movies. Same thing with these games.
So I started listening to all the soundtracks on YouTube which are awesome but it got me wondering if there have been any official orchestral versions of the music besides what's on the end credits of the games. That led me to discover that the Kindgom Hearts Orchesta Wold tour was a thing?!!!!
And they had a concert in my city just 6 years ago but I had no idea! I really hope they do another world tour because I would get tickets in a heartbeat.
Anyways I don't have anyone around to discuss my new obsession with so I decided to revive this old thread lol.
Kingdom Hearts Orchestra world tour full album for anyone who's never heard of it:

So far at least. There's a good chance that what I like about the show so far is about to collapse as we get closer to the finale and the Xenomorph action takes over. We'll see.

Yeah I actually thought it was the best episode so far. In terms of what this show seems to be about, it felt the most full of relevant plot advancements.
There might be some people who want to see the same retread over and over, but I'm glad this show isn't just another group of people running into xenomorphs (this time on Earth!) It's more focused on things that are more interesting aspects of the Alien universe to me.

I thought it was strong. The psycho tension involving the synthetics is my favourite aspect of the series so far.

Park Chan Wook's new film, No Other Choice, comes out September 24th in Korea. He's had this one in the works for 20 years and it's based on the 1997 novel "The Ax" by Donald E. Westlake.
This is a teaser so it's not too spoiler heavy. Still, I stopped watching in the middle because I already know I'm going to see it opening night.
Also just as excited for a new Jo Yeong Wook score as the film itself. If you're not familiar with his work check out the scores for The Handmaiden and Thirst.
He's a Music Director/composer and works with a team of composers who usually don't get credit for the work. Similar to how the way people like Zimmer work I guess.

Okay. I am confused. I really think this might be one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I know that sounds silly and hyperbolic, but I'm genuinely not joking.
E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g about it...every single aspect of filmmaking is horrendous.
I'm truly baffled watching it. The first 10 minutes convinced me it was bad and going to get worse, but damn. I've watched the first 2 now and am half way through 3, but wow. What is this trash?
There's too many criticisms. I could fill 10 pages of bad storytelling.
I don't see how anyone can watch this and not see the awful writing. The direction is parody. Acting is another world of bad. The music is inexplicable. And the action. Man. What happened to filmmaking?
The Alien can now rip people in half effortlessly? Can smash through a reinforced steel door? Can kill 4 heavily armed soldiers in [LITERALLY] 2 SECONDS off-screen, but takes 15 attempts to kill 1 small medic guy, and still fails... because I guess the Alien likes to stare closely at the plot-armoured main characters...
I'm actually going to continue watching this as an experiment. I want to witness the pathetic filmmaking attempt this show is. I want to witness this fascinating garbage.

I completely disagree. Ash was a Synth made by the Weyland Yutani corporation, and he was made at least 65 years ago since the Nostromo was near the end of it's mission that he was returning home from.
Wendy is a Hybrid made by the Prodigy corporation, and is brand new, so at least 65 years of technologic advancement, let alone made by a completely different company anyway.
I wouldn't expect Ash and Wendy to have identical power sets, and I'm glad they don't.

Just saw the movie. Overall entertaining, beautifully shot, real sense of scale. Loved the Willams’ theme on the wide shot of the dinosaurs. Movie might be 10 minutes too long. But it’s an improvement on the last 3. The score worked great in context! Boat chase is a highlight for sure.
No music comes close to anything Williams wrote in the past but that was to be expected.

I saw the movie this morning. Williams' main JP theme is used to underscore a random conversation between two characters about their backstories. They don't even talk about dinosaurs. A very odd decision. I guess they just wanted music that sounded nice for that scene but lazily used Williams' music inappropriately.

I'm in a similar boat as you. It's one of the reasons I'm on this forum and that Williams is my favorite.
I can't deny that Desplat's skill as a composer is top tier, but for me I need more clear melodies to latch onto that I can hum along to. Without them, I really never feel much compelled to come back and listen again. The most recurring theme in this score is like seven notes and it's over as soon as it starts.
A lot of other Desplat scores of I also really wanted to like, but just found them too repetitive and reliant on ostinato. The only score I really like as a whole is aisle of dogs.
The boat chase as a preview track really ruined my expectations for this score. Is so much more melodic and bombastic than anything else on the score, and its just FUN. It made me think the whole score would be similar so i was a bit disappointed at how boring a lot of it is. I understand that it's really the only scene in the movie that lends itself to fun bombastic music, since the rest of the action is more horror.
The river crossing music is great too, and pretty fun. But it's lacking a strong melodic identity for my taste so I've completely forgotten what it sounds like even though I listened to it an hour ago.

Revisiting all the Jurassic scores waiting for this and I have to say, at the very least, it will be so refreshing not to have stupid puns as titles.

That's true, I keep forgetting that Edwards directed it. Godzilla 2014 was great, and is my favorite Godzilla film. Also a huge fan of The Creator. Story wise it was good, not amazing, but as you said it was incredible visually which leads to a great viewing experience. So I guess it has a chance to be good at least visually.
