And I decided to make mockup of The Freedom March (15M2). This is an old alternative to Liberation - Exultate Justi. It seems that initially Exultate was written only for credits, but then it was decided to insert a shortened version of it into the movie itself.
In this cue there is a choir with lyrics. However, I cannot implement the words in the mockup, so here they are. I don't quite understand what it is, but it looks like fake Chinese or something like that.

Soon I will post a video with synchronized mockup and image (as it turned out, the cue fits very well).

So here's a video with a synced mockup. It looks like the cue was supposed to start approx the moment Basie tosses the chocolate to Jim. And then with the quiet sound of tam-tam, we move on to the next scene. I had to slow down the establishing shots a little (~3/4 speed), since I apparently took a slow speed of mockup.
And the march itself is synchronized perfectly, nothing had to be edited. All sync points are in place. I don't like the transition to the next scene with the final chord, but it seems that this was originally intended.

The first word is 100% "piatti", this is clear from the rest of the score. But what sound, I could not understand before.

While there is WotW hype on jwfan, I suddenly decided to make EOTS mockup. This is a cue 2M1 "Journey in Costumes" - old alternative to Trip Through the Crowd.
In fact, this cue turned out to be even more interesting than I expected. I haven't tried matching the mockup to the movie yet, but it looks like it should match for final editing.

    My little cringe description:
The beginning of the cue is very similar to the beginning of the final version (the "screamer" in the old version sounds more simple). The chorus enters at the same moment as in the final version, but sounds darker and more dissonant (the repeating chords of the electronic piano are a little like the ending of The Streets of Shanghai). Further, a completely different material begins. The piano solo plays a repetitive short motive. Gradually, other instruments are added, the tremolo of strings ceases to sound, and a sudden dramatic climax appears (apparently, this is how Williams wanted to demonstrate that Jim perceives the world differently from this moment on). And the cue ends on a dissonant chord.

Wonderful @ragoz350, thank you! This was high up on my list of unreleased JW cues, and it's great to finally hear it, after a fashion. Neat little echoes of "Jim's New Life" I hadn't noticed before. Though overall, I think the choice to use Liberation/Exultate Justi instead of this was the right one.

    Another Sunday, another part!

An impressive 21-minute stretch of near-constant music!
    7M3 [Haunted Brownstone]
7M4 Appearance of the Pigeon Lady
8M1 [O Come All Ye Faithful]
8M2 [O Little Town Of Betlehem]
    8M3 [Silent Night]
8M4 Christmas Star all fit great, for
8M5 Preparing the Trap I had to shorten a shot to bring it back to sync, finally after it bothered me every single time I saw the movie!
Restored 8M6 [Winter Wonderland] too, why not.
    9M1 Approaching the Cash Register
    9M2 Breaking Duncan’s Window
    9M3 The See Saw
9M4 Running Trough Town all fit fine too.

For the traps I decided not to edit all the shorter segments closer together by cutting shots, ironically this time not editing the movie to the LLL but the LLL to the movie. I just wanted to really showcase how the spotting worked, what was kept silent and what was scored.

    9M5 Brick Throwing
    9M6 Staple Gun
    9M7 [The Basement]
    10M1 Slipping + Sliding
    10M2 A Brief Recovery
    10M3 Head On Fire
    10M4 [The Rope]
    10M5 Stacking Boxes
    10M6 Up The Ladder
    10M7 To The Stairs
    10M8 [That's 3]
    10M9 The Stair Caper
    11M1 Kerosene Rope
    11M2 Down The Rope
11M3 Into The Park all fit beside a short microedit toward the end of the last one. Some bits are unused. Overall, 21 minutes, 15 cues (as far as we know), 3 LLL tracks... in 35 segments. Whew.

    11M4 Duncan’s Store and Mother’s Search - fits
11M5/12M1 Rockefeller Center - had to slow the transition shots down
    12M2 Wake Up, It’s Christmas! - fits
    12M3 New Finale - fits
Merry Christmas (End Credit Pt. 1)
Somewhere In My Memory (End Credit Pt. 2) both fit fine over the credits.

For anyone curious, a score restore of the alternate closing cue 7M44B Alt Qi'Ra Departs, as heard on the OST track Good Thing You Were Listening (and mercifully available with a clean opening & ending, for anyone planning to edit it out of the OST and into their DE).

Unfortunately I couldn't do the entire sequence, due to all the tight edits on the DE for this section of the score.

I'm completely unfamiliar with Alexey Shor, a contemporary Ukrainian composer, but I randomly came across this new album and was immediately taken with the colorful, "old Hollywood by way of Prokofiev" writing.

From some of the sections, I get the feeling he could write a tinkly Christmas score to rival Home Alone.

    A Warrior's Death
Sacrifice / Mando Flies / The Baby

Companion guide is on the way! Turns out it isn't merely as simple as a copy/paste job, as there are many necessary revisions to be made based on recent discoveries. In any case, it's nearly ready! Looking forward...

What an awesome episode, with probably the most new music for Season 2 thus far! Here's what I heard in terms of fresh stuff:

    - lovely string-led development on the egg music from last episode for the frog reunion
    - new theme introduced for Bo Katan's group, a kick and punchy synth idea in action form for the barge fight
    - short cue involving strings and solemn guitar fanfare as Mando looks on at the exploding barge
    - a cue for the Quarren confrontation, features atmospheric synth ideas and short statement of the new theme
    - riffing on the new theme with familiar synth elements and eventually pizzicato when Mando drops the child off
    - an extended heist sequence full of the new theme and rocking hip hop elements, around 4 minutes in full
    - more Baby Yoda egg music for when Mando picks up the child
    - return of Quarren atmosphere for the squid in the cockpit at the end
    - one or two stringy dialogue underscore moments

    Tracked music, with alterations, includes:
    - opening atmosphere crash is a touch-up of Ch. 6's Hyperspace
    - Ch. 2's To the Jawas fanfare and chimes with a different ending for the boat shot
    - one cue made up of tracked elements from the Nevarro covert of Mandalorians (see Ch. 8's What Remains In The Tunnels)
    - several trackings of parts of Moff Gideon's theme, along with that heroic brass line that we had previously associated with IG not but a few weeks ago (that has since been changed as you can hear it in the strings in Ch. 6's Hyperspace, among other places)
    - a different mix of the opening of the orchestral version of the credits from Ch. 7 (does not play over the credits but just before)

In conclusion, this episode shares the most similarities with Ch. 6, but is still largely unique and feels very much at home with what we've heard so far this season. I loved the new theme for Bo Katan's group!

The Drive folder has been updated with everything that could be extracted as cleanly as possible, around 10 minutes in total with another 4 or 5 missing. New music will be posted here weekly: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15HO0z-sqlJU07G5IAe6FRxUVsT6zbfbb

Hopefully we'll get a halfway release next week as there should be no shortage of music with which to fill it. Fingers crossed!

Close tie between War Horse and TROS for me. Chose TROS because it's fresher and, well, you know, it's me. But they're all great in their own ways. Only The Post I'd consider an inessential or minor Williams score.

Why not offer superlatives for all of them?

Tintin: Best opening sequence ("Tinker Tin")
War Horse: Best overall listening experience
    Lincoln: Best concert suite
Book Thief: Best theme (Main Theme)
    Force Awakens: Best themes
    BFG: Best orchestration
TLJ: Best big musical set-piece (Holdo's Resolve for me, but quite a few options)
Post: Best tense, unobtrusive underscore ("The Papers")
    TROS: Best pure-Williams score
