  1. The horn solo in the beginning of "Leia's Theme" is quite virtuos. The same goes for "Luke and Leia"
  2. Wow, such a nice programm! Does anyone know if one concert was recorded? I read somewhere that one london concert was broadcasted on radio. Would love to hear that.
  3. I'm preaching this since last august It was even more special to witness it live!
  4. Princess Leia's Theme is one of Williams' most complete compositions ever. The climax is second to none. Incredible piece that never gets boring (at least for me). Marion's Theme, even though I like it a lot, always felt like the "little sister" of Leia's Theme. It's a great composition too, but lacks the incredible climax that Leia's Theme has.
  5. It's better getting a BFG-like score than getting no score at all no? Btw. I think BFG is a great score.
  6. Spielberg should really make a JW documentary, now that JW is still alive and can be interviewed. Spielberg must have tons of video material from sessions and other meetings. Would be really interesting. 8th February 2022 would be a good release date.
  7. Well, no answer is actually an answer. I'm quite sure he doesn't like it. Otherwise he would have said things like "Oh, I enjoy a lot of it. Especially....". On the other hand, he doesn't watch movies and doesn't listen to music much. How can he have an opinion about something he hasn't heard?
  8. Here is a long discussion between Spielberg and Williams in front of students from 2011.
  9. Yes, that's really interesting. The database is not complete though. Many concerts, Williams included, are missing.
  10. Another recording with BSO https://www.amazon.com/John-Williams-Treesong-Concerto-Schindlers/dp/B00005M05E
  11. I've always wondered why Luke's Theme appears in Scherzo for X-Wings (or the cue where the X-Wing appears). Anyone knows what was Williams' intention on using Luke's theme? Luke doesn't appear nor is talked about in that flight scene in the movie.
  12. I agree it is a nice recording. Even "Far and Away" is enjoyable without the strings. Shows how good the compositions are.
  13. Buckbeaks Flight Best two minutes ever.
  14. In the Main Title of A New Hope there is s trumpet flub in the very beginning right before Luke's theme starts. I always wondered why they used this take.
  15. His tie changes within seconds after Close encounters finishes and there is another speech, not sure which one it is. Saturday he wore a grey tie, sunday blue. No idea why. They fixed a trumpet error in Jurassic Park and one horn tone in Luke and Leia. It was not noticable in the release. With time stretch, different tempi should not be a problem. However, they did very little editing.
  16. There is no confirmation, but the music is from sunday. Only two speeches from Johnny are from saturday. No idea if they patched some flubs with the saturday performance or if they also rerecorded these parts.
  17. Happy Birthday GOAT. May the force be with you for many more years to come.
  18. Didn't get JP box. First it was too expensive for my liking. Now it's sold out. The Potter box is amazing. Such a great release. The amount of little tunes in HP is amazing.
  19. Here is another Evening at Pops broadcast. The "The Mission Theme" is played here too (start the video). It's the first time I saw a live video of him conducting this piece. Otherwise, mostly other music.
  20. "Only" John Williams conducting, twice in Vienna. I'm mostly a Williams music lover, not so much film music in general (even though I also like many scores by other composers). I've attended some film music concerts, but none of them conducted by a famous composer.
  21. Nothing new, it's exactly like the Blueray on the CD/Blueray edition: https://www.jpc.de/jpcng/classic/detail/-/art/john-williams-anne-sophie-mutter-john-williams-in-vienna/hnum/9843487
