Steve reacted to TownerFan in John Williams & the Vienna Philharmonic: January 18/19 2020
I too have things that I like or dislike, it’s human. Expressing evaluation on something isn’t an act of courage, sorry. The fact you acknowledge any negative things doesn’t make you look smarter or more intelligent than others. Plus, I’m not silencing anyone, as this isn’t my place to begin with, but simply stating fatigue by reading your posts. I don’t see the point of beating up the argument with such pedantic attitude like you continue to do here. But don’t worry, I’m the one who’s out of place here, so I’ll slip away as usual. Have a nice day!

You’re just being pedantic, please. It’s absolutely fine disliking the recording and saying why (which you already did a million times!), but trying to convince others who enjoy and find good things in it with such absurd conspiracy theories is pathetic. Give it a rest.

Who is denying anything? Nothing is perfect. 99.9% of the concert is performed correctly. If these few mistakes brother you that much you must be a perfect orchestra player. It's a live performance and yes, players do make mistakes sometimes. Maybe listen to midi performances instead? I'm sure they are perfect.

Even though trolling is your main aim, please give it a rest. Everyone knows by now how poor the VPO is and how much you dislike the Vienna concert. Go listen to your world class norwegian orchestras and stop the trolling in this topic. There are people who enjoy the Blueray.

Since I found no topic on that, I thought this would be a nice place to post new YouTube videos with the maestro himself either conducting, playing the piano or being interviewed.
Note: Please only post videos with Williams himself in it
I'll start with some recently posted videos, both that I've never seen before.
1980 Filmharmonic - Conducting the London Philharmonic Orchestra:
Seiji Ozawa conducting the Boston Symphony with John Williams playing the piano on "The Tennis Game" from "The Witches of Eastwick". Ozawa also conducts "Flying Theme".
Olympic Spirit performed in the studio:
Williams conducting "Olympic Spirit" with the Boston Pops:

The article about Williams includes 6 pages. Nothing new but still an interesting read.

Listen to this part (from Monteverdi: 'Deus in Adjutorium')
Sounds almost exactly as this trumpet fanfare part (Liberty Fanfare):
Only a small phrase, but still

Steve got a reaction from SteveMc in Is John Williams the John Williams of his time?
What I find interesting is that Johnny is respected more among classical musicians/conductors than among classical music critics. Some of the most famous soloists and conductors have performed his music and have appreciated it. I think that is more important than critics writing good reviews about his works.

Here is another almost full concert with John conducting the Pops on their Japan Tour 1987.
Programm includes: Olympic Fanfare and Theme, Edward Grieg Suite No. 1 from Peer Gynt, Parade of the Ewoks, Yoda's Theme, Star Wars Main Title, Flying Theme among others.

Associated Press to critic: we are going to need a negative review of John Williams.
Critic to AP: then you are going to need a better critic than me.
AP to critic: I know, but they are all dead.
Happy Thanksgiving.
