Quaritch is now in the middle of Jake’s arc, just much longer and with more redemption. I loved the scene where he crushed his human skull. This is definitely a space opera. And exactly what James Cameron should be doing. This kind of broad storytelling with grand gestures plays to his strengths.

I’ve been burning a hole in my pocket too recently. And I’m out here giving no fucks, still about to spring for Godfather and Scarface. That just seems like a perfect combo. Too perfect to pass up. Looks like these three Andrew Jacksons aren’t gonna make it… -
Avatar 2 was the most fun I have had in a long time. I’m called a Cameron-hater by my friends. I’m not; I’m merely harder on him than his fanboys. But I have to hand him Avatar 2. There was some actual ambiguity in this movie. Maybe it’s just because it’s getting a sequel and we are planting seeds but I still really appreciated it. I’m definitely paying to see it again. A well-deserved win for him.

Mike Matessino: "At least 5" new Williams releases due this year
blondheim replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
There were plenty of releases, just nothing on the level of a Harry Potter box set or something like that. That’s all. I wasn’t trying to sound ungrateful for what we did receive. I just instinctively felt going into this year that there would be a high profile release like that and then there wasn’t. -

I can’t lie: I really expected more of a slam-dunk release year for Williams’ ninetieth. -

No more Williams until April. Unless it comes from another label. Alas! Woe is us -

Bring back 1941! -
Mattris’ circular arguments remind me of why I’ve cut out toxic family members who belong to dogmatic ideologies. If someone held a gun to my head and made me find a silver lining to Mattris’ posts existing, I guess that’s it. The amount of credit he gives these people is really gross. I don’t want to say “get a life” but…

I agree. Does anyone know if this is going to get a CD release? -
Jerry Goldsmith's HOLLOW MAN (2000) - NEW! 2022 Intrada
blondheim replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, I never look at spectrograms and I can hear a difference between Intrada and other labels. I’ve noticed releases with Malone, Bulk and Matessino sound relatively excellent across the board. At first, I thought I was crazy but then I read that others were hearing it too -

I think Holko’s right: he likes doing it so it’s going to keep happening. I try not to let it get me down or turn me away from releases I really want, even though it is something I notice and am bothered by on almost every release. I try not to be toooo negative on here -
They’re not Cenobites.

90 some hours away, at the most, until we find out what these January releases are! -
Oh yes, I would love to discuss this further. I find it fascinating. So what are your thoughts on Sanderling, Rostropovich, Barshai and even his son claiming that the views expressed in Testimony are ‘all true’? I don’t believe one way or the other and have been looking for good modern scholarly works on the subject to help form a view of my own

I think this is the reason your Amistad order is delayed 😉

@karelmThanks so much for the response! It’s nice to discuss Shostakovich with someone. So you agree with the link, that the Symphony no 12 is full of Shostakovich’s codes and is possibly even anti-Lenin, despite being dedicated to his memory? I like your likening of it to Beethoven’s Fifth. I find that interesting. I will try to keep that in my mind when I listen to it next.

I'm hopefully seeing this in an hour or so. I'm very excited to hear what Franglen's done. Nevermind, my friend got into a car accident! He's okay but movie is rescheduled. -
Well, I guess I need to wait for this to come back around so I can hear that arrangement. I'm sort of a Home Alone completist.

Is there any music heard at this that isn’t on the LLL? What about that intermission music

I’m waiting to hear the score in the film but you all are hyping it up pretty hard. I’m really excited. I miss James Horner so much
