  1. No apologies necessary, just glad it may be mystery solved! If you find any other dates to add please don't hesitate to post'em!
  2. Asteroid field was also in the 85 program you can see that program at the link in my last post or in this spoiler block.
  3. Well this one is illusive to say the least! The closest I can find is Filmharmonic '85 [Nov 1985] which has all the same folks right down to Scott conducting part of it and Attenborough hosting the event! https://catalogue.royalalberthall.com/Record.aspx?src=CalmView.Performance&id=Uboz_Mav_Geag&pos=1 @Naïve Old Fart Was there a piece played or something that you remember that isn't in that 85 playlist that maybe I can look for?
  4. @Naïve Old Fart Oh I don't doubt you! Records on this stuff are spotty and I haven't given up So I can keep digging and hopefully find something on this one, are you sure about the time of year? Here in this post from 2010 you mention it may have been January. That's too bad sounds memorable in the wrong way!
  5. As we may or may not know. Discogs is a crowd sourced site. Think of it like a Wiki. If something isn’t there and you have the data you can submit it. I’ve done that a few times for track times as it bugs me when they are omitted.
  6. Hey @Naïve Old Fart The UK concerts have certainly been interesting to pin down. Some like the 1998 ones you mention were easy and can be found in the sheet already [lines 1757 - 1760 of the current sheet] The 86 concert on the other hand has been a little more difficult to actually find ANYTHING on.... I believe it's you who mentions it in this thread here on JWFan and I have it on my little list of things I'm trying to confirm before they go into the sheet but I haven't found a sniff of this concert anywhere yet. Even the Royal Albert Hall Archives only list the 76, 78, 80, & 85 concerts. Does anyone have any other info on this one?
  7. Thanks @Thor Yeah I did learn that from your podcast I just haven't updated it in the doc yet... I have a list of upcoming items that weren't ready but that change didn't make it yet.. EDIT: went back made that change and removed Big G
  8. Time for another Chronology update! This time we have instead of the under 300 updates I mentioned in my last post we have 416 new items added as well as updates to countless entries with new info as I've combed through several sources to narrow down some dates and expand on descriptions. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Sgepya2i8LU2TPesQRGltWtQJ7yNXDCOubwqDKqwg4I/edit?usp=sharing Implemented suggestions Several great suggestions have come in from other members' since the last version and here's what we were able to implement. Upgraded Formatting [Suggested by @Jay] This may have been mentioned before but... it was a lot of work so I'm going to mention it again... though there are some consistency changes I want to make I just need the time and to set some rules. Upgraded Concert Categories - @Steve brought up this idea to better delineate the concerts by William's involvement type. A version 1 of that has been integrated and is part of this update Various missed items - Several members even sent me some items that didn't make the first few versions of the chronology that I've managed to add along with the new items I've been pulling from all sorts of places. Thanks to you all and keep it up! Sources: Where has the new content come from This update has easily been the hardest fought so far as I've combed through all of the easy sources like JWFan itself, the forum entries here and at other sites like FSM and and am now branching out and going through texts, videos etc. Here's where we've seen some of these latest updates come from. Online News paper articles/archives - Like I mentioned in the last update - http://johnwilliams.org/ has an excellent bibliography that has been a good resource, Google's newspaper archives have been valuable the hardest part here is all of the newspaper paywalls and broken links due to sites being redone. Literally hundreds and hundreds of articles have been combed through. I knew there were a lot as I read them over the years but it's amazing how many have been written about the man when you see them all together! Editorial Stock Image Archives - Getty images, AP image sources and other editorial image banks looking for shots of Williams at events and other things have allowed some missing dates to be filled in and many events to confirm Williams was actually there, you can see many of these shots mentioned as Press in the source links. OST & Expanded Liner Notes - As another project I have been working on for some time on, I've digitized/OCR'd all of my copies of the Williams liner notes (even the blue box which was a chore and a half) so I've been combing through those doing searches and finding tidbits of dates and time periods that can go into the chronology. A lot has been added from those as we have some great researchers and writers in the community that have put a TON of time and effort into these notes and I really love them all... FYI everyone knows about the blue box notes being extensive but Mike Matessino's notes on Fiddler are SO full of detail it's crazy, they are worth a read to get a complete snapshot of that time! At this point starting to run out of places to think to look, I've got a few blogs of some journalists that I've started going through but each update to the chronology may be harder and harder. Anyone with thoughts and suggestions where to look next are welcome to shoot them my way! Even if I've mentioned the sources in past updates bring them up again... maybe I missed things. Now back to combing sources
  9. Huh and here I thought all this time Spielberg’s album notes in Empire of the Sun were meant to teach us about the CD format 😛
  10. I've gotten through the first 2 so far... Biggest reason is I've had to listen to them several times. I have to watch what I'm doing when listening to them or I miss details as they are so full of info! Really I have to do nothing but listen and there's not a lot of that time around these days. Either way, Amazing work, I love'em and they are going to be a bit of a meal for some time to come as I comb through them again, and again, and again
  11. Thanks @Chen G. I've actually started trying to gather those... I have an upcoming update that should add just under 300 new entries to the chronology, including some events/concerts he's attended. I've been going through as many old articles as I can find, http://johnwilliams.org/ has an excellent bibliography that has been a good resource (Google's newspaper archives have been valuable), as well as I've gone through Getty images, AP image sources and other editorial image banks looking for shots of Williams at events etc. If anyone knows of some other sources I'm happy to go through them too!
  12. Ahh this Last Crusade doc is a HUGE update to the combined Indy one you had before! Amazing detail as always Thanks @Jay
  13. So what you are really saying is you’ve been holding out on us!? j/k
  14. Yeah this doesn't seem to be a you thing here... I tried searching as well and nothing comes up for You are Welcome, "You are Welcome", or even just welcome... But search Newfoundland on the other hand you gets lots of them @Jay do we know if this is an issue/limitation with the forum search?? Here are but a few
  15. For anyone interested/hasn't seen it yet, here is the Beacon article @Thor was referring to.
  16. I did a quick search and didn't see this mentioned yet so.... For those who like the Analysis of Frank Lehman it appears he's updated his “A guide to the Musical themes of Indiana Jones” to include Dial of Destiny. https://franklehman.com/indiana-jones-themes/
  17. Mostly for posterity in bumping this thread here but in going through info on this I noticed the images were broken for the news paper articles in all the above posts... The below should be the image of the paper clipping that was mentioned along with the text copied out just in case this image also befalls the same fate. “John Williams working on Meteor score,” by Marilyn Beck for the St. Petersburg Times, August 1st 1978
  18. Hey @Steve Absolutely, if memory serves these are the ones that he replaced Fiedler on were they not? I had them on my list but hadn't spent the time to narrow the dates so Thanks for those. Agreed, it's been getting a little unwieldily in the concert sections so this could be a good way to fix that... I'll see if I can get some time to implement this Thanks again! Very much agreed, I'll work that in too thanks @Thor Good catch @Damien F I had it on my list for a future update as "Adrian Love Interview Alternatives (Capital FM), February 1978" but this may help me narrow it down more! Thanks!
  19. This sounds like a blast. I would so be there if it wasn’t for that pesky Atlantic Ocean thing. How long to swim that?? In all seriousness Legacy of John Williams is killing it and I hope those that can attend have an amazing time! Bravo @mahler3 and @TownerFan!
  20. Ohh responsive tables! Yes looking much better! Bravo
  21. If it has a date and Williams himself was involved it does indeed matter greatly to the Chronology! Thank You!
  22. Though he did say that there are several releases coming that we will find... "Special" I believe was the word he used
  23. ok.... @BSOinsider I had linked to your old post in the chronology project now you post this amazing piece of detail... drop the mike take a bow and walk off the stage sir! I must now go link to this post instead
  24. Yes, he was shall we say... very generous with his description as I'm sure some of the less than "kind" fan reactions to some things can only be annoying. That said great analogy and very kind.
