So this has been in the back of my head ever since @Ricard brought it up almost 2 years ago... I finally decided to give it a go and started something that I've been working on... it is in no way complete but it's a start. I've been picking away at it here and there but I thought it might get the ball rolling... even if it is 2 years later https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Sgepya2i8LU2TPesQRGltWtQJ7yNXDCOubwqDKqwg4I/edit?usp=sharing

The John Williams Jurassic Park Collection from La-La Land MUSIC Discussion
KittBash replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
With these both being released individually I'm reminded of a small issue I had with this boxset. NO not the Teeth They listed the performers in this set but they blended the list for both movies together making it very hard to see who worked on each. Very minor grumble indeed! This is a little frustrating as I've been working on a project compiling all of these folks, based on the liner notes, lists looking at things like who's played on the most Williams movies and seeing who makes up these orchestras that we love to listen to. Did the Later Jurassic 2CD set have the list in it? I'd love to see the list and correct my project if I can. -
New Forbes interview with Mike Matessino about John Williams' career
KittBash replied to Jay's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Agreed, it almost feels like they took very specific parts from a more comprehensive discussion. That said always love hearing from Mike! -
The CD liner notes lists the players and they are the usual suspects of LA contract players that Sandy DeCrescent brings in. I've been working on a project to catalogue all of the players and map out who has played on each score and this has led me to digitize all of my copies of the my JW liner notes so here's the list from the Dial of Destiny notes

Mine has made the journey to Atlantic Canada safe and sound. I was expecting this same thing but mine came in a box, I thought, "hey must have been because I ordered a couple of other things alongside it, cool!" Then I opened the box and I had to laugh as there it was...... a standard bubble mailer envelope, folded in half for double-protection on one side LOL Hey at least it came without a scratch! Maybe the box was because it was an international order??

Jerry Goldsmith's First Knight (La-La Land 2CD Complete)
KittBash replied to Jay's topic in General Discussion
I'm criminally small on my Goldsmith collection but this is one I bought when it came out... I've always enjoyed it.. It's Jerry at his 90's best -
A Quick couple of things. 1. The new Mondo pressing looks to be the same contents as the OST correct?? From a quick glance it looks that way. 2. @crocodile Karol, are you sure your Japanese disc (quoted below) was the pressed version?? I ordered mine from Amazon here in Canada at the time, It is identical to the one you have in the photos right down to the serial numbers and text and I was always under the impression it was supposed to be a CDR...???

You know I'm not sure it's ever mentioned, the Varese notes (Link), La La Land release notes (Link) or Jays Sheet (Link) don't seem to mention sources. Even the La La Land sales page (Link) doesn't have anything... I do however have this note but I can't seem to find the source where Mike Matessino mentioned... "We had a pristine copy of everything that was recorded. There are over 75 cues in the score and an average of 5 or 6 takes of every cue. That was about 11 hours of music. The scoring logs did have the “goody” takes circled by music editor Ken Wannberg, but when comparing the multiple takes against the original album it became clear that some of the un-circled takes were also utilized." CORRECTION: I remembered the source it was an interview from this very site back in 2003! (Link) under the Question - "What was the biggest challenge in putting the set together?" Doesn't tell us explicitly if film takes were used for the releases though.

Album art exchange typically has the covers in different sizes as well and are usually pretty good scans. https://www.albumartexchange.com/covers?q=The+Fury+Williams&fltr=ALL&sort=TITLE&status=&size=any
