  1. From the EMPIRE article: “Henry Butterworth, writing alongside director James Mangold – the Logan and Ford V Ferrari filmmaker, now facing the daunting task of following up a certain Steven Spielberg (on board here as producer). For Mangold, it was all about the challenge of making a final Indiana Jones film. “It became really important to me to figure out how to make this a movie about a hero at sunset,” he says, noting that he steered the film further in that direction. “The issues I brought up about Indy’s age were not things I thought were being addressed in the material being developed at the time. There were ‘old’ jokes, but the material itself wasn’t about it. To me, whatever you greatest liability, you should fly straight towards that. If you try to pretend it’s not there, you end up getting slings and arrows the whole way.” Yep. Indy’s old. And that’s the point. Really really excited to see what Mangold does. I’m confident it will extend beyond the usual tropes of “childhood hero is now broken, grizzled, and disillusioned, but gets called back into action one last time” Can’t wait! https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/indiana-jones-is-back-adventure-laughs-real-emotion-harrison-ford-world-exclusive/
  2. Just for a look back at the last Empire cover promoting an Indy Film: Gotta say, I had no qualms with Shia in KoTCS. But “buddy shot” with both of them feels so uncomfortable 😆
  3. Ah. Now I see it. Nice! I didn’t realize it was supposed to be ticker tape in the artwork. Looked like “lighting…fire..power of God or somethin’…”
  4. Love that alternate cover. Curious to see how it relates to the film. “Indiana Jones and the Dark Tower Crossover”
  5. Interesting nugget of info popped up from Antonio Banderas during an interview on a Spanish TV show regarding his role in the movie (via our friends at theraider.net) "It's a really short role. There's not much of it. It was a pleasure to work under the production of Steven Spielberg and to work with Harrison Ford. It was beautiful. I felt a bit lazy to do it because I was rehearsing [for my musical]. He [Ford] had a physical problem and the filming of the movie had to be postponed a little bit. I was scheduled to finish [filming my role] just as I was starting rehearsals. We had planned it that way. But he had a physical problem, so during rehearsals I had to go to Sicily for a week, then to Pinewood Studios in London. And then due to the COVID issue the shooting was stopped and I had to go back there again in February. Which was detrimental to the performances in Malaga". http://raven.theraider.net/threads/promotional-content-teasers-trailers-publicity-images-etc.24728/page-19 original interview: https://www.antena3.com/programas/el-hormiguero/entrevista/entrevista-completa-antonio-banderas_20221115637412eb8746c3000141642c.html
  6. I’ll be happy if it’s just a title reveal. By this stage it’s pretty darn silly to still be calling it “Indy V”. Worst case scenario: It’s just a picture of a bullwhip and they’ll “report” that there’s a new Indiana Jones movie coming. Supreme trolling. Best Case: They drop the full ost of Indy V 😜
  7. Looks like it’s from this article: https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2022/11/the-return-of-willow-and-how-its-staying-true-to-its-origins/
  8. Might just be another production still or a teaser poster (with just the release date) Trying to temper my own expectations…
  9. Might be Indy related! If it is, seems kinda odd they would have a magazine reveal the title instead of an official press release from Lucasfilm though. I guess it would be clever(?) marketing? Trying to think of what else it could be. Maybe just a hyped-up car add 😆
  10. It’s pretty cool. I enjoyed it as a fan of Indy. A nice through line to an otherwise episodic series.
  11. Speaking of lost (character) arcs, this one’s an oldie but a goodie. Never actually watched it until last week. Fun lens to view the series through: Curious to see how Dr Jones view of the world will be so late in his life. I feel (hope) the “its not what you believe but how hard you believe it” line from the bootleg teaser is a line taken out of context. But maybe not. After all Jones tends to “make things up as [he] goes…”
  12. Ah I see. Yeah I suppose that’s their benchmark across the board for all their big franchise properties. “A billion or bust!”
  13. Indeed! If the less-than-inspired JW: Dominion made a billion I certainly hope Dr Jones can pull it off!
  14. You’re saying it needs to make a billion? Yikes. Dont know if that will happen. I’d love it though. Can I ask where you get those numbers from? I know more optimistic fans think it could be a “Top Gun: Maverick” type situation (ie a dormant franchise comes roaring back with fantastic practical effects and old school movie making) I have no doubt it will be a terrific movie. I have no qualms about Fords age. He’ll be great. But considering the most recent film in the franchise hasn’t aged well in the mind of the public (to put it mildly) coupled with a 79 year old action star, it’s tough to see it pulling in Maverick-level dough. But I truly hope it does make a billion. I’ll be there opening day!
  15. I agree. I can take or leave whatever further ideas they may be cooking up sans Ford. I just want this one to be the (second 😉) fond farewell this classic character deserves.
  16. I really want Indy V to turn out great and pray it gets successfully promoted and marketed well. Hope it doesn’t fall victim to all these cost cuts at the Mouse House 😬 https://variety.com/2022/film/news/disney-layoffs-hiring-freeze-bob-chapek-1235430840/amp/
  17. I can’t think of anyone better to be the musical heir of Horner for this story. JNH in full fantasy mode is pretty damn special. Sure there are other fantastic composers who would have done well. I’m just personally glad he chose to do this. Can’t wait to hear all he’s cooked up for us!
  18. I’ve been hibernating for a while but just wanted to comment on how lovely the brief snippet of the score was in that clip. Hearing JNH take on Horner is a dream come true! Really hope we get a couple of albums for this (RoP reaaaally spoiled us! Lol) The acting seems …ummm…a little rough (was Warwick Davis reading from a cue card?😅) But I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. I’ll be watching this November 30th.
  19. I love the bridge bit in the suite from 2:30-2:50. It strangely reminds me of a theme from “The ‘Burbs” 😆 And then in the same bridge on the episode album, (3:34-4:00) I love the stronger emphasis on that little up and down figure in “Into Numenor”. It’s a bit more staccato and made my ears perk up when I first heard it on the episode album. More evidence Bear didn’t just copy and paste his suites into these shows.
  20. I can’t recall on which thread someone asked for this. I believe they wanted some artwork that didn’t have the actors faces on it. Here you go. Nothing fancy. Created a single version for those who only wanted Shores main title.
  21. Terrific as to be expected. Excellent analysis. I love the examples of “Shore-isms” in his non-LOTR works (works that, admittedly, I haven’t taken the time to truly appreciate) The whole closing argument on the genius of the simplicity of Shores title theme is well expressed. And I find the opening visuals to be the perfect compliment to his music. Cant wait for your future interview with Bear 😊
  22. The opening ostinato of Galadriels theme has been running through my head a lot. And then at the end when it’s paired with the lovely choral backing. Just lovely. When I initially heard this theme I thought it was a bit too overblown. Pushing the “yearning” button a bit too hard. I don’t feel that now at all. It’s actually really delicate. I do think it was maybe used a bit too much (or perhaps just played in a similar fashion one too many times throughout the show.) But I feel like Bear really wanted this to be the theme that audiences left humming when the show ended.
  23. Yes. You really gotta give credit to Bear for thinking of both the casual listener and the full blown score nerd. He did a splendid job paring down certain tracks, creating suites out of similarly themed tracks, and placed in relatively chronological order. There’s only a handful of tracks from the episode albums that I would add here and there to fill in some narrative gaps.
