Listened to The Perfect Storm for the first time in a while. There’s some terrific terrific music in that one. I’ve forgotten how much soaring action it contained (and how sad I am that he isn’t around to do Avatar 2). 
 
While it’s still written in his unmistakable voice, it doesn’t seem to directly lift from his prior scores. At least nothing really jumped out at me. High time for an expansion (along with Mask of Zorro!)

James Horner referred to the danger motif as the ‘diddly dah’s’

Given the number of years Cameron got for this project, I'm surprised he didn't learn composing and write the score himself.

Or maybe he will just as a hobby rescore Bridge of Spies and replace Newman's nice temp score. 

This is not a Rise of Skywalker situation. All that’s being newly done is the ENDING, based on what Williams said.
 
I know what my hope is… this film was shot before Ke Huy Quan returned to acting after decades away from it. Maybe this reunion at D23 led to some last minute conversations to take advantage of the extra buffer time before this film’s release, and give a very powerful onscreen relationship (easily the best part of the generally-problematic ToD) some lovely closure of some kind…
 
Just a hope, but I can dream. Obviously it’s far too late for him to be integrated into the movie. “Another ending” seems like it might just fit.
 


I’m surprised more people’s minds aren’t going to this hopeful possibility, but then I guess the men’s rights “they shall not replace us” trolls really do have their panties in a bunch about Phoebe Waller Bridge being in this, and they’re the loudest voices on the internet. 🙄

Anyone who saw Everything Everywhere All at Once knows that Short Round is now a kickass martial arts master.

According to the Indiana Jones Wiki:
 
”The boy known as Short Round was born Wan Li on February 8, 1926. Orphaned during the Japanese bombing of Shanghai in 1932, Li picked up his alias as a pickpocket on the streets of his home town and attempted to rob the man he would later refer to as Dr. Jones.”

The original ending had Ford riding off into the sunset, but Mangold got so tired of the whiny chuds on the Internet that he filmed a new ending where Some Lady blows Indy up with a bazooka, puts his hat on, and says “I’m Indiana Jones now, and the real adventure is only beginning.”

... all the while having a talk with her daughter, about this amazing man called Indiana Jones, and whistling "We Have All The Time In The World".

One can hope! I won’t be crushed if he doesn’t show. But it would be icing on the cake for sure. 
 
Regarding the skepticism this movie may earn from some before seeing it, I’m of a similar mind with the thoughts shared by one of the guys on “The Weekly Planet” podcast:

“I get why people are skeptical. Because of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Because of some of the things that happened with Star Wars. I get why people look at this and see the ‘floating head’ on the horse and go, ‘ I hate this.’ But I reserve the right to go into this with absolute blind optimism. And that is what I’m going to do.”

This is exactly what “new ending to shoot” made me think of. This film was originally shot before that actor returned to acting. But if this is Ford’s last acting role it would be such a shame if Short Round didn’t show back up for an on-screen reunion.

sidenote: Watched his remake of 3:10 to Yuma the other night for the first time. What a great film! He has this knack for making these really character centric action films. Just what Dr. Jones final adventure  needs!

Ah yes, is this in the same category as there existing a Lucas cut for TRoS?
 
I kind of pity someone who seems so detached from everyone else here to sincerely believe sludge like this despite so much evidence to the contrary. Liars are the last thing I would call anyone associated with these productions, if you do decide to pull that card.
 
That, and if something so divisive like KotCS can still make money, then I can't imagine the casual audience being so filled with brainworms as to sincerely think the movie was trying to indoctrinate them or whatever fucking culture war bullshit your idols have fed you.
 
It's just a silly franchise about an archeologist doing unrealistic things. It ain't that deep.

I think this has been posted before, but I’m just finishing up listening to this podcast, Mangold really seems to understand the score and says he doesn’t like the current format of “factory made” scores and stuff like that. Highly recommend listening to this, he just seems like a really chill dude and someone who love’s soundtracks and knows they’re important to the film.
