enderdrag64 got a reaction from Brando in Empire Strikes Back recording sessions footage
Hmm maybe that footage wasn't all filmed by the BBC after all. I just learned of the existence of this other documentary by French cameraman Michel Parbot which most people thought never existed until it made its way onto the internet in 2018:
At 55:40 here you can see a lot of the same recording sessions footage, but without any voiceover. There's some footage here that isn't in the other documentary and vice versa

I was rewatching this excellent 1980 BBC documentary on the music of the Empire Strikes Back:
It contains considerable footage from both the recording sessions and the spotting sessions of Empire. I was curious if anyone here knows anything about where this footage came from. Did the BBC just film bits of it specifically for the documentary? Or did they film large chunks of it for editing down later and for Lucasfilm to use for general purpose marketing use? I wonder how much of both the recording sessions and the spotting sessions were actually recorded and if any more of this footage survives beyond what's just in the documentary.
Also, if the BBC filmed it, is it possible that the raw sessions footage exists in their archives somewhere? I'm not a Brit but I believe the archives should be openly available to British citizens right?
edit: before submitting this I looked up the person credited for photography, Kenneth MacMillan: https://www.cinematographers.nl/PaginasDoPh/macmillan.htm
Looks like he definitely did work for the BBC

I have no interest in seeing the movie but this is really unfortunate for the composer and a disrespectful decision on Sony's part.

FYI, a slightly higher-quality version of almost 17 minutes of the documentary is still available via the BBC Archive site:

According to this site (https://missingepisodes.blogspot.com/p/timeline.html) the junking practice was officially ended in 1978 (although there was some material that was returned from overseas that was junked until 1981, but I don't think that would apply to the Empire documentary

I watched the film yesterday, and also if you search GEMA they have the "official" name of every cue listed - though curiously, the GEMA list is also missing the very short cue for Bavmorda slapping Kael - just a coincidence?
Anyways, the full list of music heard in the film is very straightforward
Elora Danan (Omni: 1M1 Elora's Birth / Titles) OST 1 (9:45) The Nelwyns (source, not in Omni book) unreleased Diggery Doo (source, not in Omni book) unreleased Nelwyn #2 (source, not in Omni book) unreleased Death Dogs (Omni: 2M5 Village Attack) unreleased (2:17) Willow's Farewell (Omni: 3M1 Saying Goodbye) OST3A [0:00-2:42] (2:42) Bavmorda's Castle (Omni: 3M2 Bavmorda & Kael) unreleased (1:13) Willow's Journey Begins (Omni: 3M3 Search / Travel Montage) OST 3B [2:42-end] (2:44) Airk's Army (Omni: 4M2 Crossroads) unreleased (4:10) The Enchanted Forest (Omni: 4M3 The Brownies) unreleased (5:34) The Tavern (source, not in Omni book) unreleased Dust of Broken Hearts (not in Omni book) unreleased (0:45) Tavern #2 (source, not in Omni book) unreleased Madmartigan's Escape (Omni: 5M2 Escape From The Tavern) OST 2 (5:04) {not in GEMA list} (Omni: 6M0 Bavmorda Slaps Kael) unreleased (0:11) Magic Wand (not in Omni book) unreleased (0:11) The Island {actually listed as "The Island Pt. 1" and "The Island Pt. 2" in GEMA} (Omni title: The Island) unreleased (1:40) Fin Raziel (not in Omni book) unreleased (1:49) Willow Captured (Omni: 7M0 Sorsha Arrives) unreleased (1:48) Arrival At Snow Camp (Omni: 7M1 The Trek) unreleased (1:13) The Sled Ride (Omni: 7M2-3/8M1 Snowy Escape) unreleased (7:52) Canyon Of Mazes (Omni: 8M2 Canyon Of Mazes) OST 4 (7:52) Tir Asleen Pt. 1 (Omni: 9M1 Tir Asleen Battle Pt. 1) OST 5A [0:00-6:03] (6:03) Tir Asleen Pt. 2 (Omni: 9M2 Tir Asleen Battle Pt. 2) OST 5B [6:03-end] (4:44) Bavmorda's Spell Is Cast (Omni: 10M1 Spell / Razel Transforms) OST 7A [0:00-9:10] (9:10) Battle Of Nockmar (Omni: 11M1 Nockmaar Battle) OST 7B [9:10-end] (9:01) Death Of Bavmorda (Omni: 12M1 Bavmorda's Death & 12M2 Willow Returns) OST 8A [0:00-5:33] (5:33) Willow - End Titles (Omni: 12M3 End Credits Pt. 1) OST 8B [5:53-7:33] (1:40) Willow - End Titles (Omni: 12M4 End Credits Pt. 2) OST 8C [7:33-end] (4:22)
It sounds like the Intrada CD will have (what was located of) cues 1-21 above on Disc 1, and 22-29 on disc 2 based on Tim's interview with Doug and Roger.
Those first 21 cues above are what's in the first 75 minutes of the 2 hour movie; The final 45 minutes of the movie is 22-29. So for 5/8ths of its running time you mostly hear music that wasn't on the OST, then the final 3/8ths of the movie is 100% music that was on the OST.

Yep, it's clear at some point he went far beyond just adapting the Obi theme.
But in Hollywood, screen credits are reflective of your contract, not reality.

Exactly, Roger received the assembly which Horner created with Shawn Murphy from Simon Rhodes. Leading to the conclusion that a double album was in mind at the time. We have to be thankful for that!

None of those would have re-use fees, because that is not a re-use, OST albums are included in the original, intended use

AFM re-use fees ONLY apply to catalog expansions / premieres. OST albums released concurrent with the film/show can be as long as they want, no re-use fees are needed - because it's a not a RE use, it's the first, intended use

enderdrag64 reacted to DarthDementous in OBI-WAN KENOBI - spoilers allowed for all aired episodes
I had a very similar experience, although I had previous expectations for the Tuskens thanks to my experience with KOTOR 1 which gave them a surprisingly rich history. I think the key is contrasting Tusken society with other societies, and since BOBF doesn't really flesh out any other society it falls flat for me. New additions to their culture just confused me, like the lizard that goes into your brain and makes you hallucinate going to a tree and getting the resources for your gaffi stick
Please do, I think it fits really nicely with their KOTOR depiction

enderdrag64 reacted to DarthDementous in OBI-WAN KENOBI - spoilers allowed for all aired episodes
Yes, fleshing out the Tusken Raiders would fit very well with an Obi Wan series. Not like how BOBF did it though, that was thin and awful. The Kenobi novel fully fleshes out their culture and values as well as their unique way at looking at the world and I got absolutely none of that from BOBF
I don't need anything directly to do with the Sith to get a sense of what it was like to be Obi Wan post the events of Revenge of the Sith, the less they're aware of Kenobi the better in terms of keeping continuity
