  1. I was wrong. It isn't the exact same track. Just listened to both. The version on the error disc is 4:16 with no dead space, and the normal disc 2 version is 3:58. So among the other mistakes on this disc 3 is a longer version of A.I. Theme (vocal version). Can't tell exactly where it's extended, though. The background sax in the brief Gigolo Jane clip does appear to be the beginning of the Rouge City track on the error disc 3. The percussions that kick in after 30 seconds might be what you hear when they first enter Rouge City in the second clip, but it's hard to make out with everything else going on in the scene. "Helicopter" on the CD is definitely from Joe's Helicopter Cue. Very monotonous track. Basically 2 minutes of the same action loop. Might actually be the same drum beat from Rouge City. Inside Dr Know's (alternate) is completely different from Inside Dr Know's. Not a slight variation, a totally different sound. Has an almost 80s thriller synth vibe to it. To be honest, I'm probably the worst person to rely on for specific audio details. I don't have much of an ear, I'm more of a visuals guy. Sorry that I can't give better descriptions. There were four days between when my copy shipped and when I made the original post bringing it to LLL's attention. And I don't even know if mine was in the first batch shipped out. Plus it had two weeks of peak demand orders before it started shipping. Wouldn't surprise me if there were a couple hundred of these out there. Someone will rip it and post it eventually. It's probably for the best that that doesn't happen, though. This is a big deal. Wasn't a small mistake like missing or broken tracks. It was music that wasn't approved for release, getting released. That could cause issues with LLL's and Williams/Spielberg's business relationship. And that would mean less of a chance we get more special editions in the future.
  2. I’ve already gotten a number of PMs asking to share the “bonus” music. I’m sure it’ll get out there eventually, but it’s not going to be from me. Sorry, guys. Here’s a copy/paste of my original post over at FSM that may have been what started all of this, if that helps: Received the new edition the other day, and there's something up with my copy of disc 3. I never had the original LLL release, so apologies if this is already a known issue. I attempted to import it into my itunes, and there was no info online to pull from as far as track listings. Ejected the disc and retried a couple times, but no difference. Plays fine, but all info is generic "track 01, track 02" etc. So I decided to just copy the info from the track listings in the booklet. That's when I realized that besides the lack of metadata, there are also additional tracks. 17 instead of 14. And a total disc running time of 66 minutes instead of the listed 56. I then checked the CD with the blu-ray player connected to my TV. On there the metadata showed up, but still 17 tracks instead of 14. Here's the list of tracks according to that source: 1 - For Always (4:47) 2 - Cybertronics (alternate) (3:06) 3 - David's Arrival (alternate) (3:11) 4 - Canoeing With Pinocchio (alternate) (1:58) 5 - Abandoned In The Woods (alternate) (3:34 6 - Rouge City (3:35) 7 - Inside Dr. Know's (4:31) 8 - Inside Dr. Know's (alternate) (2:05) 9 - Helicopter (2:01) 10 - Replicas (alternate) (3:59) 11 - Finding The Blue Fairy (alternate) (6:01) 12 - Finding The Blue Fairy (orchestra excerpt) (3:40) 13 - What Is Your Wish (alternate) (4:09) 14 - The Reunion (alternate) (7:03) 15 - For Always (Duet) (4:42) 16 - Abandoned In The Woods (album version) (3:07) 17 - A.I. Theme (vocal version) Any ideas what the issue is with the disc and why the differences from the official listings? And is anyone else experiencing the same thing? I'm mostly curious if I got a faulty disc that led to the brief shipping delay. Although if faulty means extra music, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Thanks for any help!
  3. No. They halted sales because there were issues with disc 1 and 3 and replacement discs need to be made. It all went down quickly last night and it looks like the error was music that wasn’t supposed to be released, so it was probably easiest to just remove it from the site before any more orders went through.
  4. Disc 2 is fine, as far as I can tell. That track was repeated on Disc 3 so it’s just in the set twice. Disc 1 has one extended track that’s about three minutes longer than it supposed to be. Disc 3 is where things get crazy. When I get a chance later I’ll check out those YouTube clips and compare them to the new tracks to try to verify the source cues, because I’d really like to know exactly what I have.
  5. Romeo and Juliet is available from Quartet Records. 2019 remastered reissue. It's a beautiful score. Screen Archives still has it listed as available. I was able to get it from them last July, so hopefully it's still in stock and not an outdated listing. (I find it best to email them before ordering to check on in-stock status. Otherwise your order could be on hold for a long time.) It's also available on Amazon, but not for retail. And a few scattered listings on ebay. https://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/39427/ROMEO-&-JULIET-ROMEO-AND-JULIET/
  6. First score I ever bought was Jurassic Park, way back in the cassette days. And being an 80's kid, Williams was definitely the most impactful in my early years. There were a few others here and there over the next decade or so. Goldsmith's Rudy probably had the most impact during that time. Can't say I was much of a film score guy until around 2013 though, which is when I discovered the boutique labels like La La Land and Intrada when I visited the Screen Archives website to buy a Twilight Time movie. It wasn't the big, mainstream scores that fascinated me, since I already had those. It was discovering soundtracks to little movies who's music I always liked. Scores for movies like The Boy Who Could Fly, A Walk In The Clouds, or Peggy Sue Got Married. Bought a bunch, and discovered I greatly preferred film scores to other music when doing any sort of creative work. So it really wasn't one score in particular that did it for me. More of a gradual thing. That was also the first year I attended the annual John Williams concert at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Which I know was a major influence.
  7. I was bored to tears while watching Wyatt Earp. Loved the score, though. That and the cinematography are the only things it had going for it. And Krull is one of my favorite Horner scores, but after watching the movie for the first time in years a while back I found that it's best left a fond memory from childhood.
  8. Only in concert, but John Williams and David Newman at Williams’ annual concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Attended four separate years. Can’t remember if Newman helped conduct the first two times I attended, but he definitely did in 2017 and 2018.
  9. Alien, Back To The Future 1 & 2, Legends Of The Fall, and the Rambo scores are back in stock.
  10. Definitely: Titanic Good Bad And The Ugly Rocky Halloween Potentially: Godfather Terminator Back To The Future Forrest Gump Braveheart Friday The 13th Gone With The Wind Psycho Beverly Hills Cop Chariots Of Fire Avengers Mission Impossible I think a lot of it comes down to your generation. For instance, Gen X would definitely know Police Academy, but would Millennials?
  11. Favorite score is The Outsiders by Carmine Coppola. None of the genres listed really cover that one. Honestly, the list of options is way too short. At the very least I’d recommend adding non-specific drama, comedy, horror, and romance to the options. Also, animation is a technique, not a genre.
  12. I really like Conan but Willow is one of my favorite adventure scores, so this one was easy. And to be honest, I prefer the soundtrack to Destroyer more than Barbarian. (But Willow still would have gotten my vote.)
  13. It's so odd this poll popped back up today because I just watched Braveheart last night and was asking myself the exact same question. For me, it's almost impossible to choose between the two. I have a lot of history with both. Both are scores I loved before I loved film scores. But the tie breaker was how much the music enhances the ending of Braveheart, from his execution to the final shot of the sword in the grass. ("Freedom"/The Execution/Bannockburn on the expanded score) No sequence in Titanic matches that marriage of music and imagery. So Braveheart got my vote. Barely.
  14. The deluxe editions for Hook, Independence Day, Untouchables, Robocop, and Starship Troopers are my top five officially OOP misses that I regret. I've seen a bit of speculation on forums that Hook is due for a reissue, so I'm hoping that pans out.
  15. For most music I've basically been all digital since about 2005. When I'm working from home, though, I prefer to listen to film scores through my blu-ray player and sound system.
