Yodaschild reacted to CinderTech in The Official Sir Christopher Nolan Church Thread - Oscar-winning Saviour of the Celluloid
If Varese can refer to them as Lana and Lily on the booklet for the official Complete Edition of the first score, then it really should be a non-issue at this point. We genuinely have no idea what exactly was going through both sisters heads at the time, so to subconsciously suggest that they were comfortable with themselves would be pretty disrespectful if this were to be someone we know personally.

I know next to nothing about the Wachowskis, but I gather that they’re women, so The Matrix being on a list of films made by women is hardly mind-twisting. I realise that they were named and commonly perceived as men at the time of the film’s release, but the IndieWire list was obviously not being presented as a list of “Top Films by Directors Commonly Perceived as Women at the Time the Films in Question Were Made” so, at most, the Wachowskis’ inclusion warrants a few seconds cognitive dissonance as one reconciles memories of 1999 with current knowledge. There’s no changing history or ignoring the past involved; it’s just treating the past with the better information now available.

It's just polite to refer to trans people by their correct gender even when talking about things they did in the past. It's literally no more complicated than that.

If it was a white guy? Super easy. Barely an inconvenience.

I don't get how someone could be upset about skin color while accepting that they speak modern English. The idea of ancient Greeks speaking a barbarian language from 2000 years in the future is far more laughable than black people existing (which they did).

Yodaschild reacted to Nick1Ø66 in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
So what's your problem with fan edits then? If it's all about you, who cares how the director intends you to watch? Since you correctly point out that you're watching the movie for you (ultimately the only opinion that matters), what do you do during bits you don't like during a film you're seen many times?
