John Murphy liked a comment I made on Insta about a Lex Luthor theme! 😍

The movie is score-driven, not song-driven (plus John Williams)
Gunn’s regular composer, John Murphy, is doing the score for Superman and Gunn confirmed that the film will be much more orchestral-driven than his Guardians of the Galaxy movies. But when you think of Superman and music, you only think of one person and yes, he’s in there.
“There’s nods to [John] Williams and then also John Murphy’s created this incredibly beautiful score,” Gunn said. “But the one thing is it is a score, it’s not a soundtrack. So it’s not about the songs. There’s a few songs in it. And of course, I chose those songs beforehand, but it isn’t like any of my previous movies really in terms of the score is what drives it. It’s a much, much more of a score film.”

That and the lovely fanfare at the end. Hits all the right notes, so to speak.

Actually, I want John Powell to score all next movies in the world ever.

Cause I'm me, I tend to hyperfixate on specific cues. I am absolutely in love with this little section (1:35-1:53 of Ozian Invitation). It's so fairy tale, Randy Newman-esque, I love it!

I'd love for John Powell to make music like this for Star Wars one day.

“Ozian Invitation,” “Galinda Becomes Glinda,” and “Train to Emerald City” are such a perfect trio of tracks!

Some observations now we've got the OST and FYC to compare:
 
- No One Mourns The Wicked is significantly better if you merge Opening Build onto the start. However, I forgo Green Childhood entirely.
 
- It's possible to merge Galinda's "You were her friend?" audio from the start of Dear Old Shiz on the song album so it goes into the main title/Arrival At Shiz University cue instead. Much better.
 
- Elphaba Follows transitions into Something Bad in the movie and can be done seamlessly via editing as well
 
- Elphaba At Ozdust is significantly better than Elphaba's Entrance/The Hat. Humiliation Together is the final third of Elphaba At Ozdust.
 
- Fiyero Meets Elphaba/Glinda Readies/Book Place works better than the two separate Prince Fiyero of Winkie Country/The Book Place tracks on the OST.
 
- Forest Feelings can be edited to lead straight into I'm Not That Girl
 
- Galinda Becomes Glinda/Train Station appears (at least in part) to be an alternate version of Train To Emerald City/Sendoff. I'll attempt to see if an edit of 
 
- I swear there are still missing parts of the end titles. Confident there is an instrumental of Popular in there, somewhere, too.

A few points for reference:
The Madame Morrible theme is based on 0:08 of “The Wizard and I” (“Many years I have waited…”). The Friendship theme is based on 1:27 of “What Is This Feeling?” (“Every little trait…”). The Wicked Witch theme is how Schwartz refers to the opening bars of “No One Mourns the Wicked.”

2 hours, nice! And well, those samples settle the discussion: Williams' themes ARE included.

I can't help but think to myself that if Michael Giacchino scored this movie, there would be track titles liked "Shiz Just Got Real", "Every Nessarose Has Its Thorns", "Hate To Burst Your Pink Bubble", "I Need a Fiyero", "Glinda's Such a Witch", "Boq to the Future" "Elphaba & Omega" "World's Worst Wonderful Wizard, and "Morrible Bosses". 😭

It would appear so.
 
I’m fairly sure at least a few Raiders variations will make their way in somehow.
