Leia Sees Ghosts reacted to DarthDementous in What are your thoughts on John Williams' new theme for Obi-Wan?
I’m a bit confused by the perspective that Williams taking two weeks to put this theme and suite together takes away from something
If he didn’t decide to do this, you would be getting nothing in its place, not something different

Leia Sees Ghosts got a reaction from jwfan06 in Natalie Holt's OBI-WAN KENOBI (2022)
Some fans aren't consistent. When Kiner and Giacchino echoed Williams in projects like Rebels and Rogue One, they were accused of being unoriginal and dubbed "Diet Williams". But when Natalie and Ludwig come in and bring their own styles to the table, they're accused of being "trendy" and "disrespectful".
I more than welcome Star Wars composers bringing their own sensibilities to the music. I think Natalie's been doing a good job based on two episodes. I especially love her leitmotif for Reva in Part 2.

Leia Sees Ghosts reacted to Richard P in What are your thoughts on John Williams' new theme for Obi-Wan?
It's a perfectly nice theme but it doesn't rank anywhere near his best. While it's reasonably memorable I'm not feeling that element that makes it an 'emotional' theme.

Breaking news: Fans of John Williams surprised and angered that music not by John Williams is not as good as music by John Williams
Holt's music is nice. I like the Alderaan stuff a lot, and Leia's new theme has shades of Powell in it, particularly the longer melodic line work. Much better than a lot of her contemporaries who keep their themes in strict four-bar phrases. I look forward to hearing her work in isolation.

I think Kennedy knows the value of Williams and the traditional score approach, but she also knows that not many can do it effectively--particularly for a TV project. So, she lets the directors go with their own sensibilities, which veers towards RCP crap, as it is the in thing and thereby safe. I wonder, though, if Ocelot's reports were not accurate, that in this case, she reallly wanted something more and somewhat last minute convinced Williams to do what he did.

There’s an action scene in the second episode, a moment when Obi-Wan is chasing after Leia on the rooftops, that sounds similar to (isn’t) Williams’ theme. I wonder if that was Holt’s version?
I quite liked her music, especially the gorgeous Alderaan stuff. I’d like to hear the Inquisitor material more closely, especially when they first show up at Tatooine, it was interesting. Overall I think there’s a nice blend between her music and the Williams/Ross material, it’s pretty cohesive all things considered.

Really loving the score so far. Love Natalie's themes for Reva and Leia, and I am over the moon for Williams' Obi-Wan Theme. I hope Natalie stays in this world for awhile, she's like the bridge between Kevin and Ludwig.

Loki was a very good soundtrack if you ask me.

Leia Sees Ghosts reacted to Fargo in Michael Giacchino's JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION (2022)
The first Jurassic World score is solid. There are a couple fantastic tracks in there that still make it in my current rotation.
Fallen Kingdom is utter crap though.

Leia Sees Ghosts got a reaction from Tom Guernsey in Who do you think will score the new Disney+ Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series, using Williams' theme?
I don't think it's unfair to assume that John Powell is probably gonna to do the score. I also want him to do it because he's an amazing composer. Plus, I am still in love with his score for Solo which is still my favorite of the this era of Star Wars and my second favorite Star Wars score overall.
I won't be mad, but I'll be a little bummed if he doesn't do it.

Okay, it's getting kinda ridiculous they haven't just said who it is at this point. I don't quite understand the purpose of having such information withheld at this point.

Would love to see a similar post that takes Ludwig Görransson out of the running!

Nor can 90% of Morricone's music, or most of Goldsmith's, Herrmann's, North's, Barry's, Mancini's...

Voted Powell for both questions. Imagine how cool would be to get brand new 5 hours of John Powell Star Wars music?

Leia Sees Ghosts got a reaction from crumbs in THE LAST JEDI: ESCAPE - Complete Restored Intended Score
Yeah! I'm so used to the film version of this piece that I forgot about that really cool reprisal of the Resistance during the action when Poe is wrecking stuff. It was included on the album and was so sad that it wasn't in the movie.

Leia Sees Ghosts reacted to 1977 in THE LAST JEDI: ESCAPE - Complete Restored Intended Score
RJ shortens probably the best sequence in the movie (resulting in a hack of JW's musical intentions) but elects to include:
booby green milk alien monster cow
nonsense animal rights virtue signalling
male lead falls out of bacta tank and spouts liquid while wondering around spaceship
purple haired ball gown wearing feminist belittles and emasculates latino male co-lead
iconic iris out takes place after random broom boy non-character irrelevant coda
?
