Not surprised by all the negativity up here on this score. I remember someone (not here) saying things like "they wanted to rip their eardrums out after listening to Elfman's MIB scores." These scores aren't for everybody. They might come off to quirky and maybe even annoying to some but not for me. I love it when Elfman gets to have fun and not give a crap if the music is too much. And despite all the negativity up here I'm still very much looking forward to this score. I'm looking forward to this score more than his Dark Shadows score coming this month. It'll be interesting how he'll integrate his current writing style with a MIB score. Plus Elfman finally scores a trilogy. Glad to know from Maurizio's desciption of the score that Elfman is changing things up while still keeping in tone with his other MIB scores. When it comes to sequels Elfman hates rehashing and reusing music and likes to try different ideas.

Guess I'm the only one looking forward to this score. I don't think this score is as bad as some of you guys make it out to be. Though I have yet to hear the samples and will wait to see the movie first. But yeah Elfman's MIB scores aren't for everybody. But I'm fan those scores. I love how quirky and out there the music are for those.
  3. I have yet to hear the score or see the film. But I'm usually a fan of Silvestri's music. But the past six or so years his scores have been pretty average. Though Beowulf was good. His action scores since GI Joe have begun getting stale. As well as seem to lack something his action scores in the 80s and 90s had, imo. Maybe Silvestri needs a break from action movies and score other genres for a little while or at least between action action movies. I'm still looking forward to his Avengers score.
  4. So tempting. But I'll wait to see it with the Avengers. Assuming the trailer will play with The Avengers at my local theater.
  5. The last score I listened to was LLLR Speed. What a suspenseful and adrenaline pumping action score. Listening to it for the first time takes me back to all the times I use to watch the actual film back in the 90s. I love how the score captures the atmosphere of rush hour traffic in most of the tracks dealing with the bus. The synthesisers were used very effectively throughout. The main theme is also really awesome. Now that I think about it this is probably one of the best action scores of the 90s, imo. It added a lot of weight and tension in an already great film. Mancina did a superb job. What he came up with was the best way to go with the film, imo. Can't wait to give this another listen.

  7. That's funny you should say that b/c I didn't find Silvestri's Captain America score that engaging. It was good but it could've been better, imo. I found the score lacked a few themes. Hopefully his Avengers score will be a vast improvement.
  8. Batman Forever (2cd LLLR) Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events
  9. Chaac, GL isn't nearly as bad as you and a lot of people make it out to be. I thought it was a decent popcorn movie. Sure it's far from the best comic book movie. And it could've been a lot better with the story and mythology behind the character b/c it had the potential to be the next Star Wars or Star Trek. But this was the first attempt of the character on film. There were bound to be mistakes especially as tricky a character as GL is to pull off. Sure that doesn't excuse the final product. But I thought JNH's score was even more disappointing.
  10. With today being Friday the 13th. I listened to all the scores in the LLLR Friday the 13th Box set.
  11. Gotta love internet message boards. Thread about Marvels The Avengers turns into a thread about "The Apprentice" and "The Bible". Who'd of thought? Anyways looking foward to this movie and score. Hopefully Silvestri hits this one out of the park. Wasn't really impressed by his Captain America score.
  12. Looks like Intrada "assembled" a top notch physical release for Silvestri's Avengers.
  13. Been wondering what's going on with this. I guess this will come out sometime during the holiday season.
  14. I can see this getting an expansion maybe even from LLLR. Probably a few years from now . if Elfman's POTA got an expansion and is barely 11 years old (going by year not release date). Then I don't see why Ottman's SR wouldn't or couldn't. Plus it's Superman. So it'll happen someday just not right now.
  15. I'm not bashing Horner. Horner is simply hit or miss for me. A lot of misses. When it comes to his scores i really have to think to myself if it's worthy of a purchase. I only own a few scores from him that I can count on one hand.
  16. Hopefully Horner comes up with something mostly original and great. I take it that Webb hasn't heard that many Horner scores to be that impressed though.
  17. What? How does a group of excited fans make you like the work less? I didn't say I like the Hook score less. i enjoy the score very much and think it really helped the film. And was a character into itself.I said my excitement or should I say anticipation for it isn't as big or high as it would've been if some of the complaining for it not being in theBlack Friday releases last year. Some up here were questioning why Scrooged, Fat Man and Little Boy and Die Hard are considered grails to some? And why Hook wasn't included in the sale? Then during the Valentine's Day releases some were ticked that Elfman's POTA score was the 3 disc set and not Hook. Even to the point that some didn't want to believe it when LLLR pretty much confirmed it. Basically b/c of some users impatience for this release (when we all knew it was coming it was only a matter of time and patience) is why I'm not as excited for this as I would've been if some weren't whining about it everyday. That's why LLLR posted that on FB so people would stop moaning to them about it's release date..
  18. Pass. I thought we were getting a real grail. Not this joke. Thanks for saving my wallet LLLR. All kidding aside I think it's fantastic this is finally getting an expanded release so the whining and moaning for it can finally come to an end. It's a great score . A masterpiece even but the diehard fans of it hurt my excitement for this after their whining for it during LLLR Black Friday release and during their Valentine's Day releases. B/c of some of you guys' impatience for Hook.
