Eventhough I own the OST's of BB and TDK. Still don't own TDKR. If this is true and does happen. It depends what's on it and I might purchase it. As well as the price tag. I'm a completist and a batman fan. If they throw in a liner notes booklet with a thorough analysis of the scores to each film would be nice too. I smell a Elfman/Burton box situation with this. Where it's mostly a quick money grab for fans of the films and scores.

Wow. I can't believe this is finally getting an expansion. This is easily one of Goldsmith's best scores in the 90s, imo. I never owned the OST. So I'm definitely picking this up whenever I have the opportunity. Might order this with Newman's The Phantom. Which is another awesome superhero score from the 90s. This made my week. Probably Intrada's best release so far this year. Haven't been this excited for a release by them in a while.

I concur. Christopher Young's Black Spider-Man theme was more memorable. And Horner's is miles ahead of both of them. Karol

Well I can cross The Bodyguard off the list of some of the Silvestri scores I'd like to own. I didn't expect (though I was hoping) LLLR or any label for that matter to release it especially this year. Awesome.

I love that bit ( the music and the animation itself is stunning) where Gordon and his squad are waiting for the cars to strike city hall or the library (can't remember which it's been a while since I've last seen it) and Batman comes of the building out with a flamethrower and destroys the cars. The themes for the cars is very thrilling in a threatening way. The Gray Ghost theme was very old school in a 30s -40s serial kind of way. It always sort of reminded me of Elfman's Dick Tracy theme. The animation in that episode is very top notch (as most of the episodes) and the music really complemented and captured the images. The music on this show as a whole are all great. It's hard for me to pick a favorite. Even Vol 2 is missing some great scores. Though I'm not complaining. I'm glad LLLR was able to release one volume let alone two.

Edit to add some clarification Correct; two tracks that were on the first edition will not be on the second edition, letting those who got the original release have something really special! Official Press Release: http://youtu.be/fXH2_P3FP2E

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
lonzoe replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
I've just listened to LLLR First Knight for the first time. All I got to say is "Holy Smokes!" I believe Goldsmith delivered another masterpiece with this one. This score had everything I want in a score of this scale. King Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere, Malagant, Camelot, and Leonesse all had themes. My favorite theme being the gorgeous and lovely Guinevere theme. I can't get enough of that theme. It really captures Guinevere's heart and beauty, imo. The score also captures what was lacking in the film. Though I don't think the film is nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. In fact I found it entertaining though flawed. I think the complete score from the 1st disc is paced pretty good for 78 minute. It never dragged and never a dull moment, imo. I'll also agree with Jerry Zucker that Goldsmith was snubbed of a oscar nomination. This deserved at least a nomination, imo. Excellent score proving why Goldsmith's one of the masters. -
Any love for Alan Silvestri's Beowulf (2007) Main Theme?
lonzoe replied to TheUlyssesian's topic in General Discussion
I enjoyed this score much more than his current action scores. Though as good as the main theme was I do think it needed a little more oomph to it. It felt like it wasn't quite complete. Also is it just me or does the seductive music for Grendel's mother sounds similar to Goldsmith's seductive theme for Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct? I wonder if that was intentional. -
Man Of Steel (2013 Superman reboot directed by Zack Snyder)
lonzoe replied to Luke Skywalker's topic in General Discussion
Which proves why I think Zimmer's overrated. He didn't do that good of a job on the recent Batman scores, imo. There's plenty of other more capable composers like Don Davis ,for example, who could've hit this out of the park. Oh well I had little hope in this film when Snyder got hired anyway.- 4,348 replies

This score might be the surprise of the summer for me.

I'll take my time with this one. I won't rush out and get it. That only depends on how good it is in the film.
-
Probably a lot more thought was put in that cover than the score itself.

It's tame compared to the nuclear scenes from Terminator 2, which packed a real punch. I agree. I used to have constant nightmares about that scene from T2 (back when the film and myself was quite young) believing that was going to happen for real. It still could.

Don't! You're not missing anything. Plus your time will be better spent doing other things than watching T4.

I'm sorry Roald but T4 WAS awful. I like to call that movie TINO. It was anything but a terminator movie in my eyes. At least T3 was entertaining. and was a good popcorn movie that's it. T4 was just crap from start to finish, imo.

What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
lonzoe replied to Ollie's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I own it but have yet to open it, but I plan on listening to it soon. -
You say it like it's something to be proud of. Yeah it isn't that great. Calling Elfman's Batman score great is an understatement. It was GROUNDBREAKING. True, he didn't write it himself though, Bernard herrmann did. I'd prefer James Horner over Elfman any time just like Joey. In the film it says music score by Danny Elfman . The album reads music composed by Danny Elfman. Last time I checked Herrmann passed away in 1975. So he couldn't have written the Batman 89 score . Besides I can say the same thing about Horner's HISTK score being written by Nino Rota going off your way of thinking.

This franchise has been buried under the ground already so why does Hollywood feel the need to make more terminator movies. Two terrminator movies for that matter. Also didn't the last two flop. They want to make two more movies b/c 64 year old Arnold wants to. Let the franchise rest in piece already. Theres nothing more they can do with it, imho. They missed that opportunity with T4. Cameron needs to get the rights back so they can stop destroying these movies any further than they already have.

Hopefully out of the 2 Goldsmith releases coming on June 19. It'll be either The Burbs ( I missed out on the VC), The Shadow, The River Wild, or Congo. I doubt it though. Dennis the Menace would also be cool. Hopefully somewhere down the line on that schedule there'll be a Silvestri release. The Bodyguard, Blown Away or Judge Dredd would suffice.

Since (the real) Robocop is playing Batman in TDKReturns animated movie. I guess it makes sense for Commissioner Gordon to play Robo's creator in the unnecessary remake. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/gary-oldman-robocop-328774 As much as I'm not looking forward to this "so called" remake. I might check it out some time down the line b/c of Oldman. If he's interested in this remake then there's gotta be something good about it.

Wow still talking about how iconic Elfman's Batman theme is in a James Horner The Amazing Spider-man thread. Shows how much interest some have of this score.

I want Christopher Nolan to reboot the Harry Potter movies
lonzoe replied to Augie's topic in General Discussion
I can already see Zimmer telling fans "Hedwig's Theme" or "Harry's Wondrous World" is too "jolly". He'll hold back his own theme b/c Harry hasn't earned it yet b/c he's still learning how to be a master wizard or whatever.
