  1. To be young and in love (with Williams):
  2. How realistic is it for Williams to become the top selling (ever) DG artist?
  3. Does anyone find the main theme: Way to close to this?
  4. A friend in the industry mentioned to me the contents of the fourth disc. Evidently, it is recording of the rehearsals, secretly recorded by a flautist. From what I am told, it it makes the Buddy Rich tapes seem tame in comparison.
  5. I am personally hoping for The Asteroid Field and Leaving Home from Superman.
  6. This track has both the "Here They Come" precursor and the Force theme, though the latter is not as direct--a cross between what will be the force theme and Dracula.
  7. He wrote BS first, but, yes, it does seem like a dry run for several SW ideas--including the force theme itself.
  8. I was blown away by the music in the trailer. I then heard the BSO premiere of the full Hedwig's theme. I liked it less, but I think it was because I wanted it to open big. I would soon regard it as a classic, but it took a few months. I loved the OST, though thought it repeated Hedwig's theme just a little too much. Harry's Wondrous World has never quite clicked with me either--not sure why. I thought the move was good. I remember critiques of Columbus's approach, but I think it introduced the world in a satisfying cinematic way. The kid actors were kid actors, though they all did a better job than Jake Lloyd. I still find Columbus's efforts to be better than anyone else's other than Cuaron's.
  9. Um, this is all media outlets and has been so for at least 10-15 years (well, maybe forever, but definitely the last 15 years).
  10. "Who are you and how did you get in here? "I'm the locksmith...and, I'm the locksmith."
  11. The more pressing question why have neither Williams or anyone else repeated with a win of the same award the next year--seems to me it is more of a curse than anything else to get this award.
  12. And on top of that, the whole discussion assumes the presupposition of the Uniformity of Nature. David Hume successfully showed that this presupposition cannot be established though inductive or deductive reasoning. Hence, if we accept it at all, it is on the basis of Custom. I think that we can all agree that mere custom is not a sufficient basis for referring to something as important as an Indiana Jones film.
  13. The dude has not won an Oscar in 30 years. I think you may be tilting at windmills.
  14. Outside of when I am complaining, I rarely complain, but could we please fix the thread title--it hurts my brain.
  15. Saw the movie last night. I thought the everything was well done except the score--mindless, screeching noise that (for me--just my opinion) cheapened and undermined the whole experience.
  16. Paging Milli Vanili. That being said, you know the music sounds the same whether Horner or ghost-writers wrote it.
  17. I would not call it lazy, just simple and standard. In fact, I would say the first three have similarly simple and standard stories (straight out of the 30's), they were just executed so much better. IJ should not be boring, yet IV is, and for horrifically long stretches--the laziness is in its execution. While we might differ on premises, I think we share the same conclusion about the movie.
  18. It is simply a trope from pop culture about Nazca lines--no different than Stargate's treatment of the Ancient Egyptians and many other sci fi stories. Hell, even Star Trek TNG claims human beings have accomplished what we have because we were seeded by aliens. Its just standard sci-fi storytelling, and that is what they were going for in IV.
  19. The movie itself has already time traveled. It has skipped ahead to 2023--we need to catch up to it--just like the Einstein.* *the dog, not the guy.
  20. I believe this is the first Williams's recorded version of the extended Throne Room:
  21. "Hey John, there are a bunch of snobbish critics who hate your music and think that you should not be allowed to perform in Europe." "I know, but they are all dead."'
  22. My favorite is Star of Bethlehem. It must be bittersweet to live as long as Williams has, watching all these friends and collaborators die.
  23. It is not published, but it has been fully prepared. Very weird.
  24. Probably caught something from too much standing on the roof. (sorry)
