  1. The problem with the evaluations of a Star Wars score is that it can be an all or nothing affair. If it is not a masterpiece, many will be quite disappointed and judge it harshly. Obviously, that is a crazy standard. I believe it will be a top-notch score that will reward both the casual fan and JWfan fanatic, but I am not expecting a masterpiece (like ANH and ESB).
  2. It would be cool if the new Williams piece becomes the signature piece of the TMC.
  3. Were you at the Tanglewood on Parade Concert? How was it? Did Williams offer any program notes or a video message?
  4. In the Vanity Fair article, Williams mentioned the sessions will go at least into August and possibly September.
  5. are you just messing with me? Obviously "film night" is really just "mostly-Williams music" night. He usually throws in a concert fanfare work here and there, such as sound the bells or fanfare for fenway.
  6. I just checked their website. It does not look like they will be broadcasting the concert. I guess I was wrong above. Hopefully, the piece will be performed at Film night and that concert will be broadcast.
  7. I have a hunch Williams will record a video message/s for both Tanglewood concerts. Hopefully, he will look and sound good.
  8. He would have canceled the Philly concert if he thought he would be out of action that long. There is a chance he is not doing well; there is an even greater chance that we are blowing this out of proportion.
  9. I could watch the behind the scenes stuff like that all day. a superb little video showing Williams at work. edit: it is nice to see that a poll about foul language is generating more interest than both the video and release of a clean version of the work itself.
  10. One would have thought they would have been the first to do it: Anyway, Dec 11-13:http://cso.org/TicketsAndEvents/EventDetails.aspx?eid=7306&utm_source=mail2&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20150724ChristmasinJuly&source_no=23026
  11. The concert itself is fantastic. I had never heard the first half of Soundings--the whole piece is breathtaking. the performances throughout are excellent and the mood of the audience is infectious. The only thing I could have done without were some of the visuals during the performance. The DVD itself is very well produced, with excellent sound quality. It is a must have for any Williams fan with $25 bucks to spare.
  12. ET and the Eiffel Tower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mBfJH6bQqE
  13. They updated the concert program with less than a month to go and Williams is on it. I think it is a virtual lock that he will be in Lenox from early August until after film night. I would bet there will be another week or so scoring session in LA before he goes as well.
  14. As said above, it will be performed at the Tanglewood on parade concert, which will be broadcast.
  15. I doubt this concert will be broadcasted, but the piece is supposed to be performed at the Tanglewood on parade concert, which will be.
  16. Back in the 90s, I was catching a summer Williams conducted concert with the Cleveland Sym Orchestra. The show was mostly all Williams, but for the first encore, he did the main theme from An American Tale and spoke quite fondly of it. That piece seems like a nice tribute at the moment.
  17. I am surprised Kennedy is producing. one would think running Lucasfilm would be enough.
  18. is this on wgbh? could you provide a link to the performance?
  19. The site has been proven right time and time again so I wouldn't be too worried about this news being fake. It's not an issue of fakeness, but of how equipped someone is to interpret things to accurately report on them. (and if they can do so without editorializing with needless hyperbole) That is a good point, but some things still come through as informative, such as the use of choir, a new march, a new theme for Rey, a new Jazz-styled piece. Nothing earth-shattering, but fun nonetheless.
  20. I have wasted a bit too much time on SW7 sites. Makingstarwars has been accurate with most of its scoops. So, I would say it is likely, but obviously not certainly, true.
  21. The concert piece from JFK, and, incidentally, the version of that piece on the new Schindler's List Camber collection is phenomenal.
  22. I don't think it will happen either but that does confuse me. It is free, positive marketing with no downside. All of that being said, I don't really understand the need for marketing the film at all. Give people no teasers and trailers and they will see this movie anyway. But given that they seem intent on a big marketing push, why not some music. In retrospect with Harry Potter, I wonder if Columbus et al saw the debut of the concert piece as an important marking push or just a way to humor Williams.
  23. To throw out a general question, wouldn't it be a wise marketing move to allow/encourage Williams to perform a concert version of a SW7 piece at Tanglewood? He did it with ESB and again with Harry Potter, though the main theme of the latter was already present in the trailers. It spoils nothing (assuming they keep titles vague), it is free, and the music, as it will be good, will provide positive exposure for the movie (as those concerts are always broadcast and personal recordings).
