Increasingly dissonant and disjointed after each drink.

enjoy the concert to those who are going.

I would not wait for a program--those seem to be gameday decisions by Williams nowadays.

If it was only a weekend show, I would say 24 hours at the most.  With two extra nights, some nosebleeds might be available for a couple days.  I would be as aggressive as possible.

    Do it!  Two reasons:
    1) if you are even asking, then you have the money to spare.
    2) imagine the horror of others when you tell them you blew $100 on it--feed on their anger and you will grow stronger.

In general, when Williams (and everyone else) composes scores in close proximity to one another, there are various overlaps. I would not call in bizarre.

I could watch the behind the scenes stuff like that all day. a superb little video showing Williams at work.
edit: it is nice to see that a poll about foul language is generating more interest than both the video and release of a clean version of the work itself.

I have emailed the BPO to express my admiration of the album and desire to have another.  I would encourage others to do the same.  It probably will not yield a second volume, but if they get a sense of a market, it could help.

I would say the first 5 seconds of Soundings are the worst of his career.

His concertos and larger symphonic works are as good as his best film music (and they are both great).

Okay, I just re-listen and no longer think it is Williams. However, that variation of the Resistance March is top-notch.  It really brings the main melody line to life.  The composer deserves more jobs.

I am not familiar with the Battlefront music at all (or any Star Tours music).  I agree parts sound off, but I attributed that to the less than ideal sound quality of the video itself.

I don't know, I am hearing some high horn hits ala TPM and underscore beats in the family of the Attack on Jakku.  Whoever composed it, if not Williams, really knows how to channel those little Williams's touches.

The middle part is definitely a variation of the Resistance March (and a damn good one), but I cannot say is it 100% Williams.

Okay, can someone identify the music that begins at the 30 second mark?  Otherwise, I am going to think it is from VIII.

It is one of the worst big blockbuster movies I have seen.  It starts bad and gets worse and worse as it goes.  And then, to add insult to injury, the last couple of minutes are almost exactly like the previous two endings.

I would take Voyager any day over this, unless it featured Neelix, but that is like Sophie's choice in reverse.

This exactly.  Even if horrible electronic music were taking over - and it is neither horrible nor taking over - Giacchino is hardly who you'd want leading the charge to keep the symphonic end up.  If you are put off by the sameness of hybrid scores, why should you give a chance to the sameness of orchestral scores that Giacchino represents?  I've said this for a while now.  He is far more damaging to film music because many fans will give his mediocrity a pass simply because they hear a symphony orchestra playing.  It's sad.

And this is why I don't like Williams's "luxurious" 8-month scoring schedule for the new SW films.

I could see a reworked piece without narration, but the piece as is without narration would not make much sense.

Well, it is a clear "yes" for me.  I was wondering if I was in the minority (with respect to Jwfaners).  Perhaps not.

I do wonder if I judge (and even experience) RO more harshly because of this.  The movie seems so uninspired and derivative to me. almost like a transformers movie.  However, I know that is a common objection to TFA, which I do think has many derivative elements, but I still experience it as something more.

I realize this is borderline stupid, but with the thread in general discussion about Rinzler and his clear dismissal of Disney SW, I thought this might make a good discussion. Does Williams' involvement in the new SW episodes make them more legit or not (whatever this means to you)?

A good test case would be, do the "anthology" episodes have the same SW artistic legitimacy as the episodes? If so, then Williams' involvement makes no difference on this score (okay, pun intended).  If not, then maybe Williams' role is important.
