  1. I doubt this. I have met and talked at length with many people who have this common belief, however- perhaps a self-consolation for being a long-time musician without perfect pitch (which I say with no intended offense). I am a composer with perfect pitch. I started Suzuki violin at age 4, and have since picked up piano, clarinet, viola, saxophone, E flat clarinet, flute, and several others less proficiently, and have developed microtonal perfect pitch (if you don't know what that is, look up Jacob Collier). I did not have this ability when I first started musical instruments.
