My comment about the score from the other thread. As others, embargoed until tomorrow to say anything substantial about the film itself.

The best parts are those that have Horner's DNA in them, whether it concerns themes or orchestration. The rest -- and especially the action/suspense music -- is completely generic. In one ear, out the other. Indistinguishable from the dominant Hollywood action blockbuster sound (trite, synthetic ostinati, a wall of sound, chords without a core etc.). Just because Franglen was Horner's assistant/programmer/coffeemaker doesn't mean he automatically inherited his talent. The underwater music screamed for James Newton Howard in "Swimming" mode. But I'll give the soundtrack a go just to hear it on its own and see if it's possible to make a decent playlist out of the no doubt excessive presentation.

Aside from Zimmer and Williams, I don't think there's a film composer alive whose music is as instantly recognizable as his as Howard Shore's.

I think I could pick out his music out of a hundred.

Oh yeah, here's something that might justify having the OST being included: reminding you how shitty modern mainstream mastering can be, as the new expansion (the top track) actually handles the compression much better!

Indeed. This is one of the shittiest things I've seen in a while, and there's really no excuse for it in the socalled Golden Age of Television. Extremely flat digital look, clean-cut costumes, poor script, embarassing performances, non-descript score (probably the biggest disappointment) and -- worst of all -- forced representation right up the Wazoo.

To be fair, the original 1988 film was no masterpiece either. It has its flaws. But at least it scored high on visual effects, production design, cinematography and (especially) music. It FELT like a proper fantasy universe. This series feels like a poorly conceived, filmed school play.

I forced myself to watching the first episode until Warwick Davies appeared, at least, but even that was a letdown (he was never a great actor, but I had at the very least hoped for some charisma to shine through). I will not be watching any more episodes of this crap, sorry.

This was the second expanded score I ever purchased and I still love listening to it! Certainly one of the best 90s Horner scores, and the launch cue might be the single most epic piece of music he wrote!

Has there been any discussion about the opening 45 seconds of "Into the L.E.M. (Film Version)" and why that section sounds like there is some strange phasing/microphone overlap going on? I didn't notice it until I listened with headphones and compared it to the regular album version of the same cue.

I decided to settle the argument with a conclusive proof that John Williams wrote the trailer music. I simply asked ChatGPT, the world's most knowledgeable AI chat bot:

UPDATE: After voicing my doubts to the chat bot regarding its last reply, it suddenly decided that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is a non-existent film, and, thus, no trailer, let alone trailer music, exists for it:

I live in the same neighbourhood and I can confirm this is true. When I heard the trailer music being played during the party, I submitted a noise complaint to the police.

I normally defend a lot of trailer music as I often like that sort of thing if it's done well, but boy, whoever decided that a really simplistic synth version of the march with chord changes was better than just tracking in the actual Raiders March, made a spectacularly bad call.

It can't be budgetary reasons surely, as the studio owns the music anyway (right?), and this is a trailer for flipping Indiana Jones!

I’ve never understood the logic behind making the trailer music sound completely unlike what is going to be delivered in the film.

You’re just setting people up with the wrong expectations and misrepresenting the musical element of your film. The point of a trailer should be to give a bite-sized representation of what your film is actually like, companies usually get lambasted if they include footage that isn’t in the actual movie - so why not for music that is not in the actual movie and also unrepresentative of anything you’ll hear in it?

I'm beginning to think that the OP is just frustrated that (astonishingly) JWFan hasn't telepathically attracted the composer of the trailer to reveal themselves.
