What is the last score you listened to?
redfoxden replied to Mr. Breathmask's topic in General Discussion
Just finished the brilliant Starship Troopers by Basil Poledouris for the first time. Love it! Now playing: Les Miserables  I think Basil has just become one of my most favoritist composers ever! -

So the "leaked version" isn't actually the final version? So we might still get the full versions of Basket Chase and Truck Chase? GREAT NEWS! -

Thanks! At first I was a bit underwhelmed, but I gave it another listen and I gotta say I'm really impressed! -
Where is the Jabba theme? I've never noticed it before. Also I'll add WoTW in "Hidden Treasure and the City of Gold" from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull". "No Ticket" in "Gilderoy Lockhart". The V2 theme from MOH in The Incredibles.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Patrick Doyle I just got it in the mail yesterday, so I listened to the first 3 of the Harry Potter scores before listening to it. It's not as good as any of Williams' Potter scores, but still very enjoyable. I really liked Patrick Doyle's take on Hedwig's theme for the 2 or so times it showed up in it. It's a shame he didn't utilize it more. Or any of Williams' other themes for that matter. The waltzes and "Harry in Winter" were very nice. Also, was it just me or did it seem like Doyle went cymbal-crazy in "Golden Egg"?. Anyway, it was good, but I'd definitely rank it last in the first four Harry Potter scores. Oh, and "Do The Hippogriff" is hilariously bad. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - Nicholas Hooper (Listened to it on Imeem) Correction: This is now my least favorite Harry Potter score. It has a couple of decent cues, but is pretty boring. I should check out the video game score.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - Patrick Doyle Lost in Space - Bruce Broughton Stargate - David Arnold -
4.5 stars for Yared's Troy. It'd be 5 if it wasn't for "Mourning Women" and "Hector's Funeral" which I highly dislike. The rest of the score is fantastic. I only listened to Horner's once but I wasn't impressed.

Ordered these soundtracks a while back. Atlantis: The Lost Empire This is easily one of my top JNH scores. I love the turn it takes in the second half. The Crystal Chamber is excellent! John Williams' Classic Film Scores - Close Encounters of The Third Kind and Star Wars After listening to this I knew I had to get Gerhardt's other Star Wars rerecordings. I love it! It's like listening to a Star Wars symphony. Seven Years in Tibet And I just ordered from MovieMusic: Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (Gerhardt rerecording) Primal (Video-game soundtrack) Son of Kong/The Most Dangerous Game Also: Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back - The Symphonic Suite (Gerhardt rerecording) It's a bit strange to hear the music in such crisp, clear quality. I love the oldish sound the original had, -
Han Solo and the Princess vs Days of Wine and Roses

I don't hear much similarity beyond the first few notes. Well it IS part of his 5 movement TESB suite... What suite is this? I've never heard of it. -
Medal of Honor: Frontline - Michael Giacchino It's been a while since I first listened to it. I'd forgotten about the 'Panzer Attack' theme in 'The Rowhouses' and the final version of the MOH theme at the end. Amazing Grace - David Arnold Good but not great. The music doesn't really stand on its own apart from the movie. It does have some nice parts, though. 'Triumph' ends the score nicely with the main theme finally played by the whole orchestra. As You Like It - Patrick Doyle The highlight of this for me is 'Violin Romance'. It's just completely gorgeous.

I prefer Victory Celebration, though I haven't heard Gerhardt's version of Ewok Celebration.
