  1. Definitely. Wow! Please do, by all means! ;)
  2. But of course, more come to mind as I read others' posts. E. g. Gladiator, Silence of the Lambs, also Hannibal.
  3. Of course, this is well known. Even the Wikipedia tells us that "After his studies at Juilliard, Williams returned to Los Angeles and began working as an orchestrator in film studios. Among others, he had worked with composers Franz Waxman, Bernard Herrmann, and Alfred Newman."
  4. He was in Vienna last December. Only it was at the Stadthalle, with horribly amplified acoustics, so in the end I decided not to buy the really expensive ticket. In Ljubljana, he'll be in Krizanke, an open air venue which has - thank God - great acoustics, so I think that won't be a problem. But I know the Stadthalle, I've heard the LotR Symphony there and ... Well, yes, it's quite like you said.
  5. Man, that's outstanding! I'm a big Symphony X fan and this arrangement is great! Kudos to all players (or to you if you recorded all the parts yourself)! Have you already considered treating e. g. The Accolade or The Divine Wings of Tragedy (the song) in the same way?
  6. Care to share the lengths of Venus, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune? I'm interested in the tempi that Karajan used.
  7. glad to see someone else can appreciate the sharp dialogue in Carrie. Cheers, fellow! Carrie was always one of my favourite King books and also one of my favourite De Palma movies, it's a masterpiece. I of course own it on a DVD, have seen it countless times and can quote practically the whole movie by heart.
  8. I'm proficient in many scenes from 007, LotR and Star Wars sagas, as well as Jaws, Carrie, Heat, Superman The Movie, The Godfather, Executive Decison, Aliens, Terminator and Terminator 2 and many more.
  9. I'm definitely ordering this CD with my next batch of stuff from Amazon.
  10. I understand that, but, standing no chance to travel to the US in the next few years, I remain pessimistic. artyjeffrey, why the inside and not the outside?
  11. People like that should be denied the possibility to become music coordinators/directors/whatever. It was he himself who discredited not only the school, but also himself.
  12. I didn't know that! Was he really meant to be on that flight?
  13. If I could meet JW just once and have just one CD autographed by him, it'd last me a lifetime ... But I doubt it's ever going to happen.
  14. I'm doing my best, at least when it comes to JW, film music in general, 007, Tolkien or The Beatles.
  15. No, I must have missed it. Wish I had a staple gun myself, though ...
  16. He might have, but he's coming to Ljubljana, Slovenia summer music festival this August to conduct a concert of his film music, which I'm very much looking forward to.
  17. I seriously doubt that the Maestro would in his age agree to a world tour, petition or not.
  18. Has that been officially confirmed? I always thought that Spielberg himself chose the source music pieces (if any) in his movies, such as those few standards in CMIYC.
  19. Morricone definitely has a point here, especially in saying "I cannot understand why one who calls himself a composer does not finish his own music, and thereby give the final and definitive touch to his composition." and "Throughout the history of music, no composer has had his score written out by someone else. So why does this occur in film music? I do not understand."
