  1. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McugOa3JmbQ While it had its moments, I thought it was a rather mediocre show. It's biggest drawback was that it was not like the comic strip at all in substance, but it had the structure of a comic strip (the 3 part joke). The comic strip had reality in it, but in the TV show, everything was a caricature (example of the pointy haired boss).
  2. You simply HAVE TO SEE IT. The best Muppet film. Even if you just see it for the number of famous cameos (and there are a lot of them). -James Coburn -Mel Brooks -Dom Deluise -Steve Martin -Bob Hope -Elliot Gould -Telly Savalas and the list goes on and on... (The best cameo is at the end, not to give it away).
  3. What's a Muppet? Is it some kind of cross between a mop and a puppet?
  4. If you can't say something positive, then at least don't say something negative. It's so-so.
  5. Me too, very tongue in cheek. I sometimes have a problem with his love of the harpsichord though. Grating instrument.
  6. The Right Stuff by Bill Conti Even through all of its temp track classical influences, this score still shines.
  7. It's the ghetto of social networking websites.
  8. FSM Composers Challenge. I hope that some of you think of participating. Last time was a success, the composers did wonderful jobs with the music, and the other people enjoyed voting for the winner. This time, LaLaLand has donated a copy of Abel Korzeniowski's Copernicus' Star as a prize. This score has been highly praised since it was released a few months ago.
  9. Thank you everyone for all your help! You are the most helpful group of people yet.
  10. Maybe the Speedbike chase on the Ewok planet?
  11. True, but there are some films, that have scores, that might benefit from a better one. Or scenes that were un-scored that that might work better with music. Do tell then!
  12. Could you suggest a scene from a movie that doesn't have music in it, but might work with music? I know there's The Birds, but I don't think music would work for that particular scene at all because of what Hitchcock's vision was. Some ideas that I`ve gotten so far: -Boxing Scenes from Bull Durham -No Country for Old Men (too recent for YouTube) -Das Boot -Jury room scenes from 12 Angry Men -Speedbike chase from Return of the Jedi -Laputa
  13. High Road to China by John Barry Mostly indistinguishable with other dramatic Barry scores around that era, but still good.
  14. My only gripe is the horribly misjudged placement of the two source jazz cues (especially the first one) on the album.
  15. Or Hoosiers. Same orchestra incidentally...
  16. The Last Starfighter - Craig Safan Excellent main theme with its 12 part harmonic beginning and varied appearances throughout. The use of the 1980s electronics as comic relief/mickey mouse material is very very annoying, but the rest of the John Williams-styled underscore is strong enough that it counters the weak parts.
  17. this is what I was referring to, Star Wars did not have very much promotion Nor were the original trailers any good.
  18. Remember if you assume, you make an ASS out of yoU and ME.
  19. Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth - Randy Miller For all the [over]praise that Christopher Young's earlier two scores get in the trilogy, Randy Miller delivers an unnoticed gem (more Goldsmith action oriented than horror, but it's still good stuff)
