  1. Being in self-isolation and having to do therapeutic exercises due to a medical condition from 8 months ago, I find the following cues by the Maestro helping to make these exercises easy to get through. Which of his cues would you play during your workout/therapy? I'm trying to limit it to 10 tracks. THE IMPERIAL MARCH - TESB ONE BARREL CHASE - JAWS SUPERMAN MARCH - STM TO THORNWOOD - JANE EYRE HERE THEY COME! - SW ANH TO SCARBOROUGH - DRACULA RAIDERS MARCH - ROTA MARCH FROM"1941" MAN TITLES - TOWERING INFERNO ATTACK ON THE WATER SKIER - JAWS2
  2. I don't know if this post already exists, but I thought why not create a post regarding Maestro Williams' concert pieces written for his films that you never tire of hearing. So, here we go: 1. "The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme" from "The Empire Strikes Back" 2. "Out To Sea" from "JAWS" 3. "Star Wars" Main Theme (includes End Titles) 4. "March From Superman - The Movie" 5. "Theme From Catch Me If You Can" 6. "Raiders March" from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" 7. "The Dance Of The Witches" from "Witches Of Eastwick" 8. "Overture to The Cowboys" 9. "Men Of The Yorktown March" from "Midway" 10. "Hedwig's Theme" from "Harry Potter Films"
  3. Back in July 2018 I replied as follows: For me these are my top 10 in preference order" 1. The Imperial March. I can listen to this track without ever getting board. 2. Main Title Theme from Jaws (Original 1975 album version) 3. March/Main Title From Superman 4. Raiders March 5. Love Theme from Jane Eyre 6. "Battle In The Snow" from The Empire Strikes Back 1980 LP 7. The Conversation from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" 8. One Barrel Chase from "Jaws" (Film version) 9. Hedwig's Theme 10. Main Title and The Storm from "Dracula" I am revising my list as such, once again in order of my preference not chronology: (Revisions in Red) While some of the tracks are the some, there are some position shifts. 1. The Imperial March. I can listen to this track without ever getting board. 2. Main Title Theme from Jaws (Original 1975 album version). 3. March/Main Title From Superman 4. Love Theme from Jane Eyre 5. Raiders March 6. The Conversation from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" 7. "Battle In The Snow" from The Empire Strikes Back 1980 LP 8. Desert Chase from "Raiders" especially when he fight the last Nazi soldier. 9. Conspirators from "JFK" (new to the list) 10. Dracula's Death from 2018 "Dracula" Release (new to the list)
  4. As crumbs appears to be the "authority" on all the itterrations of the score to "THE LAST JEDI", I am referring to the ISOLATED SCORE. Demodex got the gist of my question. I wonder why a gif of a cat playing the piano is so "fascinating" to so many?
  5. I don't see where anyone has indicated the breakdown of the scenes included in the "COMPLETE SCORE". While it is great to hear the entire soundtrack, I try to picture in my mind the breakdown of some of the more lengthy cues. Don't know if anyone has endeavored to do this.
  6. For me these are my top 10 in preference order" 1. The Imperial March. I can listen to this track without ever getting board. 2. Theme from Jaws (Original 1975 album version) 3. Main Title and The Storm from "Dracula"
  7. I'm not complaining about their omission. I merely pointed out their Omission. I understand the "legalities" involved in their inclusion on the new CD. Perhaps in a "unicorn and rainbows" alternate world every note of everyone's favorite composer, whomever that may be, is being released for public consumption.
  8. I noticed that the new CD does not include the vocal versions of the song "Love's The Only Game In Town" performed separately by the film's stars Carol Burnett and Walter Matthau. I have those saved on a thumb drive. I always favored the Mrs. Burnett version as she displays the vocal range of a singer vs. Mr. Matthau's which is more of a "speak" version of the song.
  9. I always liked Binary Sunset and I place it in my chrono listing for STAR WARS A NEW HOPE immediately after "Tales of a Jedi Knight". I re-titled it "DEATH STAR Conference" and imagine it playing under the scene where Grand Moff Tarkin, Darth Vader and the other Imperials Officials debate the power of the Death Star. You know the scene where Vader "strangles" the official who berates Vader for his inability to locate the missing data. I have never tried to watch the film using the track during that scene. Has anyone else tried using the cue at that part of the film?
  10. One of my favorite themes composed for the Star Wars series. I have pieced together moments of the theme from Return of the Jedi to create this "concert" version. Also included is a piece of music from one of the best scenes in the entire canon, at one time one of the most requested "unreleased" cues. Enjoy. Emporer_Theme.wav
  11. Just removed snow from my residence as I was listening to the music from the Star Wars films. As I was removing the snow from my vehicle the cue "Battle In The Snow" (Battle of Hoth) began. While this is one of my favorite tracks that Mr. Williams has written for the series, I "sensed" some irony of the title as I had my own personal "Battle In The Snow", with Mother Nature's deposit of winter wonder. Anyone else have any other snow removal moments that John Williams' music brought to mind?
  12. Criticism well taken. So in the spirit of competition and open mindedness, let's see what you can come up with using your own analysis as a guide.
  13. My second attempt at a concert suite of the theme. I used more of the End Titles medley to give it more thematic feel. 31Kylo Ren's Theme.mp3
  14. In an earlier post I had state that both Rey and Kylo Ren might be siblings. Upon repeated review of the score, and I may be reading more into this than it is, Rey might be the offspring of the Emperor. Listen to the first few notes of Rey's Theme and they resemble the first few notes of the Emperor's Theme. Like I said I may be reading more into it than there is. What do you think?
  15. This is my first attempt at creating a "concert suite" of "Kylo Ren's Theme" which I pieced together from moments in the score. More work will need to be done, but here is is for now.31Kylo Ren's Theme.mp3
  16. I've posted elsewhere my feelings about the beginning of Rey's theme. It reminds me of the leitmotif of Ennio Morricone's A Fistful of Dollars for the Clint Eastwood character "The Man With No Name" when he would appear on the scene.
  17. The finale of The Empire Strikes Back has it. Right again, but there the theme takes on a different meaning. The theme turns into a vision of hope of getting Han back and the adventures to follow.
  18. If you listen carefully the cue is actually excerpts of The March Of The Resistance with other unreleased material.
  19. I think in Empire when they ware leaving Cloud City A bombastic version of the Love Theme is heard in Leia's determination to get to Bobba Fett before he gets away with "frozen" Han. It's not "Anakin is Free" you're thinking of, I believe it's "Are You A Jedi?" And yes, we have noticed that he's directly quoting TPM here. I've also mentioned that apparent quotation of Across The Stars, but it could be a coincidence. Thanks for the clarification.
  20. Anyone notice the beginning of Finn's Confession sounds a lot like the beginning of Anakin is Free from The Phantom Menace and other tracks from the prequels? I also wonder why there is a snippet of Across The Stars at about the :39 mark in Maz's Counsel?
  21. The Empire Strikes Back is the one for me. The Imperial March never sounded any better. It's Williams' abbreviated Beethoven's Fifth. For me that track encapsulates the entire film. You can visualize the might of the Empire and specifically Darth Vader. After all the track's secondary title is "Darth Vader's Theme. When the theme returns in ROTJ it still is associated with Vader but it also takes on the mantle of the Empire itself and subsequently in the prequels has the same evocation. There are moments in the prequels when it is used specifically in scenes in dealing with or about Anakin/Vader, and even makes an appearance in the Force awakens in a crucial scene of doubt.
  22. I thought that the earlier unmasking of Kylo Ren during his interrogation of Ren was unnecessary. I think it would have had more dramatic impact had he done his unmasking on the gantry with Han and the moment when Han touches his face would have had more meaning.
  23. I think the line that Poe Dameron makes upon the attack against the Starkiller, "While there is still light, there is still hope" has so many meanings not just in this film in particular, but for the entire series. The line in The Force Awakens specifically at the moment that Poe states it has to do with the light of the sun that is powering the Starkiller. It also has to do with the internal struggle that a central characteris going through between the Dark Side and the "light". I do not want to give away any spoliers but one of my favorite scenes is when there is still "light" from the sun and the light in the "son" turns to darkness when the sun's "darkness" begins. In the rest of the saga the emphasis on "light" and dark has always been there. In ROTJ Luke talks about the "good" still in Vader. In TFA another character uses the term "Light". In ROTS Padme pleads with Anakin to flee with her, knowing he still has one last chance to escape the Dark Side.
  24. Siblings!! Going back to ROTJ the subplot of siblings was established. I remember reading an excerpt of Lucas' original storylines in the 1990's. In it he established that Han and Leia had twins, a girl and boy and one of them, I can't recall now, turned to the Dark Side.l know that there is an apparent age difference between Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver, but if written properly it could be such that they are at least siblings. That begs the question as to why neither Han nor Leia mention anything to Rey in the film. Maybe like Ben in the first film, they were trying to protect her from going on some "damn fool crusade". Maybe after seeing what happened to their son, who Han does shout Ben! on the gantry, they wanted to hide her ancestry from her, having failed one child for the sake of another. It would be an interesting plot development I think that could be deemed plausible. In addition, there is a striking resemblance between Daisy Ridley and Natalie Portman/Keira Knightly. Knightly played Padme's double in The Phantom Menace when the character was needed to subvert the fact that Padme was the Queen of Naboo. So maybe the Padme/Leia/Luke/Rey plotline is not too far fetched.
  25. Based upon my viewing of the film yesterday I have come up with this chronology of the Soundtrack release. I have included the main title song by Sam Smith as well. This does not appear on the official soundtrack. 01 Los Muertos Vivos Estan (featuring Tambuco) 2:4718 Day Of The Dead (featuring Tambuco) 1:25Writing's On The Wall - Main Title performed by Sam Smith 4:3902 Vauxhall Bridge 2:1903 The Eternal City 4:3404 Donna Lucia 2:3205 A Place Without Mercy 1:0406 Backfire 4:5408 The Pale King 2:5510 Kite In A Hurricane 2:0807 Crows Klinik 1:4111 Snow Plane 5:2412 L'Americain 1:4213 Secret Room 5:2209 Madeleine 2:5814 Hinx 1:2015 Writing's On The Wall (Instrumental) 2:1016 Silver Wraith 2:1517 A Reunion 5:3519 Tempus Fugit 1:2120 Safe House 3:5521 Blindfold 1:2722 Careless 4:3823 Detonation 3:5224 Westminster Bridge 4:1325 Out Of Bullets 1:5126 Spectre (End Title) 5:37
