  1. It will be used. The Raiders march will be one of the elements that will make the audience cheer on the first or second day out. However, JW is creative enough not to rely on it too much, which is what he has done in all the films. I voted option 2.
  2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: 1. Departure from the Durlseys (Main Title) 2. The Wedding 3. Horcrux Montage 4.Return to the Ministry and The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore 5. The Deathly Hallows 6. Godric's Hollow 7. The Malfoy Mannor 8. Death of ***** (in case some of you haven't read the book) 9. Escape from Gringotts 10. The Battle of Hogwarts 11. ****'s Death 12. Voldemort's Servant 13. Snape's Memories 14. The Ghosts 15. A Meeting With Dumbledore 16. The Last of the Horcruxes 17. All is Well (Epilouge and End Credits)
  3. the grail theme is as memorable...And Dr. Jone's Theme. WRONG!
  4. 1941 is the worst Spielberg/Williams film (not for music, for only film) Second worst is Empire of the Sun.
  5. Someone else can probably explain it better than me, but Signature Editions are arrangements for professional orchestras of various John Williams pieces. I guess the "Signature" comes from the fact that most (all?) feature a little foreword and signature by Williams. You can see all the different ones here. Ray Barnsbury OKay, thanks. Does JW still arrange different Signature Pieces for songs that are already have a concert version, like the Tale of Viktor Navorski, or something? Also, are all of the versions availible, or are only some of them recorded?
  6. Certainly not. I was just listing the best of the best of the best (IMO) I like many more from Raiders (including all of the ones listed above), as well as Crusade.
  7. The Cowboys Overture from "By Request...The Best of John Williams and the Boston Pops" is, I think, much superior to the OST. Same goes for the Suite From Close Encounters of the Third Kind, from the same CD. Also, nice version of Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra on John Williams - Greatest Hits 1969 - 1999. ps, thanks J Dan for the heads up about Han Solo and the Princess. Just got it on iTunes, and I am loving it!
  8. My favorite out of that list is National Treasure. Second favorite is Hidalgo. Don't care about the rest. A lot of those movies don't really seem to be inspired by Indy films, though. National Treasure is more of a Da Vinci Code for younger kids. Hidalgo I could understand.
  9. Sorry if this has already been mentioned earlier in this topic, but what excactly is a signature edition?
  10. Aren't you the one who insists that Porky's is a classic?not at all, you have me confused with someone else. Films:1. TIE: Raiders and Crusade (If anything, I'd say Crusade is better)2. Temple of DoomScore:1. Last Crusade2. RAiders3. ToDCrusade is by far the best score. It is probably my second or third favorite score, behind only PoA and JP. The best cue is Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra and Indy's VEry First Adventure.crusade better than Raiders, you have no taste what so f***** ever.obviously your a sucker for a lowbrow cheap laugh.I'm sorry, but Crusade is better than Raiders. It's just a fact of life.only for someone like you with no taste Raiders is a great score. It's bests are To Cairo, Map Room: Dawn, Raiders March, and the End Credits. Crusade is the PERFECT score. It's bests include but are not limited to: Indy's Very First Adventure, Sherzo for Motorcycle and Ochestra, Escape from Venice, Belly of the Steel Beast, Keeping up the Jonses, No Ticket, End Credits, and more. In the end--both great scores, but Crusade is vastly dominant.
  11. I don't think that 's really a theme, but it played several times throughout the trilogy. Very beautiful! They're the same thing. Minas Tirith is the only place you ever get to go to in Gondor (apart from Osgiliath, which defenetly doesn't have a theme).
  12. thats a terrible track listing! no duel of the fates, across the stars, battle of the heroes, imperial march what a waste! I agree.
  13. Yes...we should be able to say we like a JW score w/out being called a blind fanboy, and say we like another composers' score w/out being bashed. I'll begin:I LOVE THE SCORES TO THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN TRILOGY! I was going to go w/ option 2, but LOTR are one of my favorite film scores. Then I thought about it more, and decided that I am both option 1 and 2. Your division of the forum may be accurate to describe some people, but it sucks at describing me! What? Bickering is already old! Let's start a fight about this!! I agree w/ The Great Eye.
  14. Not that I know of... Here's where the themes are shown in their original form(NOTE: None of these are from the CR): Gondor's Theme - ROTK: Minas Tirith, 2:47 Fellowship's Theme - TT: The Uruk-Hai, 0:29 Isengard's Theme - TT: Isengard Unleashed, 1:21 Rohan's Theme - TT: King of the Golden Hall, 0:53 Mordor's Theme - TT: The Uruk-Hai, 1:48 (NOTE: at 2:45, it transitions into Isengard's Theme) Evenstar - FotR: Evenstar , the very beggining Eowyn's Theme - TT: The Riders of Rohan, 1:42 Hobbit Theme #1 - FotR: Concerning Hobbits, 0:05 Hobbit Theme #2 - FotR: Concerning Hobbits, 0:23 The Ring's Theme - ROTK: A Storm Is Coming, 0:33 Hope's Theme - TT: Isengard Unleashed, 2:12 Rivendell's Theme - FotR: Many Meetings, very beggining Lothlorien's Theme - FotR: Lothlorien , very beggining Then there are those themes John Crichton was talking about. I know what he means, but I can't seem to find it in the soundtrack. You can ask him about that.
  15. That's not possible because LotR has no insignificant "underscore". And I wouldn't exactly call Breaking Of The Fellowship and The Ring Goes South "small bits". It's like saying, no matter how some people here orgasm over small bits like Anakin's Betrayal or Anakin Vs. Obi-Wan, it doesn't change the fact that 90 % of the underscore is boring as hell. Which in this case is even true. Don't start bashing RotS just because it's a popular score, and you think it will somehow do damage to the person you're arguing with. It's a fantastic score, and 99% is great! Any the LOTR trilogy is another great score. 99% of that is great, too. So why don't you both shut up?
  16. Expensive: http://www.amazon.com/Framed-Roger-Rabbit-...7095&sr=8-1 Cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/Framed-Roger-Rabbit-...6992&sr=8-2
  17. Yes, it's the boys choir theme that plays usually when someone's handling the ring.Is that the one that consists of 8 notes for the first phrase of the cue? I belive it has 2 eight notes followed by 3 quarter notes, followed by 3 eight notes. Is it just me, or does 1:54 of "The Great River" sound very similiar to 7:18 from "The Necklace, The Return, Finale" (from the score Vertigo)? I'm not trying to say Shore copied Herrmann--I'm just pointing out an observation. They both sound magnificent!
  18. Anybody know the track listing for this version of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?: http://jwfan.com/forums/index.php?showforum=1 Is it worth getting the more expensive, more complete release??
  19. With ROTK: CR coming soon, I felt this poll was appropriate. For the themes that I thought may be unclear, I've provided the point of a certain cue where you can hear them. If any of the other themes are unclear, tell me, and I'll supply the same for them. I think I've included all the themes, but I may have forgotten a few. Here are my favorites: 1. Gondor's Theme 2. Fellowship's Theme 3. Hope's Theme 4. Rohan's Theme 5. Hobbit Theme # 2 6. Hobbit Theme #1 7. Eowyn's Theme 8. The Ring's Theme 9. Rivendell's Theme 10. Lothlorien's Theme The rest are great, but IMO, not up to par with the others.
