Films: 1. TIE: Raiders and Crusade (If anything, I'd say Crusade is better) 2. Temple of Doom Score: 1. Last Crusade 2. RAiders 3. ToD Crusade is by far the best score. It is probably my second or third favorite score, behind only PoA and JP. The best cue is Scherzo for Motorcycle and Orchestra and Indy's VEry First Adventure.

Desert Chase from the expanded version? I would guess...1:45. Or 2:29. Or 3:51. Or 4:34. Or 4:59. Any of those rigth? Any by the way...how do you know this? I own the Raiders expanded score, but as far as I know, it says nothing about ochestration.

Just making sure, but we know for sure they're done filming, right?

John Williams said during his lecture he would begin scoring Indy 4 in October. I love JW's new sound, mainly because there ISN'T one sound. His new style is varied--anything he hasn't done in the past. However, for this one movie, I would prefer he traveled back to the 80s, and gave us a classic adventure score. I'm not hoping for beautiful themes (except perhaps a new love theme), or pleasantly creepy music (e.g. most of Elfman's stuff). I'm looking for a bold, brass, fun, and exciting score. I would prefer JW returns to his old Indy style and not be picked to score JP4 rather than one of his more creative styles and do JP4. Just for this one film....

Prisoner of Azkaban is the best score in the world. ROTK beats any other Potter score, but not PoA. TT is as good as SS.Fellowship is worse than all the Potter scores except the fourth. Yes, I agree.

I'm hoping for a great movie and score. And I think I'll get both of those things, too.

If it's about that, I don't think the title is so bad. I mean, they didn't come up w/ the whole "Crystal Skulls" thing, all they did was the Kingdom part. So then it's fine. It makes sense if it's about this...two of the three movies were about artifacts that were already known about by the general public (the Ark and the Holy Grail).

1. Mousehunt (brilliant theme!!) 2. Polar Express 3. Forrest Gump 4. Back to the Future Part III (only have one track from this score)

1941 is the worst film I've ever seen. Right in the midst of Spielberg's most popular films, too. Strange. The only part I lauged at was the Jaws parody and the running trees, and when that guy swallowed the compass in the cracker jacks box. to think that the man responsible for the complexity of Back to the Future wrote the script, and that the man behind the depth and meaning of Schindler's List directed the movie.

My appologies. I meant to say the film was much darker than the others.

These are fun! Keep them coming! 1. Return of the King 2. Two Towers 3. Fellowship of the Ring

Crusade was the best. I had several hilarious moments, but they were perfectly mixed in with the action. It also had a good moral. And as for action: Indy's first adventure the adventure on that dock the adventure under the library escape from venice escape from the nazi's castle the motorcycle chase no ticket the air plane scene "It doesn't get much closer than that!"/attack of the birds the tank scene the three challenges the scene where the floor cracks and indy's girlfriend dies In the words of Dr. Jones, "It doesn't get much more action packed than that!" All of these scenes are very lengthy, with some great moments.

What, because it didn't have good old Brody and Sallah and it didn't take place in the desert? No, because it was much too dark. It lacked the light hearted humor the other two films had. I'm not at all saying it was bad, I'm just saying it was worse than Raiders and Last Crusade. And Spielberg agrees with me. He said so on the fourth bonus disc when the trilogy was released on DVD.

Yes...there are several different views you can take on this: 1. ToD was an incredibly corny title. 2. Most people (including me) think ToD was the worst film in the trilogy. 3. Perhaps ToD wasn't a corny title back then...I don't really remember. 4. After everyone has been waiting for this new movie for so long, the first thing that we hear about it is bad!

My favorite is Jim's New Life, followed by Cadillac of the Skies.

I think that the Birds was one of the the slowest moving, most boring movie I've ever seen. The only film I can think of right now that's worse than The Birds is 1941. I think a bit of music could have seriously moved that movie along. IMO, Hitchcock really screwed up there...I mean, there wasn't even an ending! Most of his films can be a bit anti-climactic (or at least, the climax isn't the best part). The Birds, there was no climax!
-
Yes! That's excactly what I thought! Despite the recent criticism of new sequels of great, old movies, I can't help thinking that this movie will be a winner. Do I expect it to be better than Last Crusade or Raiders? No, but I do expect it to be great, and better than ToD. Really? Who?

I should try Chicken Run and some of the others you guys have mentioned. Thanks!

Nooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Oh well...don't judge a book by its cover....
-
Can't imagine Shia would do that...he's always seemed so humble on the videos on indianajones.com. I think Spielberg either told him it was okay to say that, or that's not true, or both.I personally hope it's not true. I was hoping City of Gods would be the title.

I was wondering what this board thought about this magnificent score. I love it. I think it's my favorite Gregson-Williams score, and my only Powell score. Some of the best cues: Eating Alone Ride the Dragon Fairytale The Transformation/The End Singing Princess Starry Night A comedy movie, with a beautiful score.

I think it was aweseom when you hear the click of Yoda's cane slowly walking, and you see his shadow, and it's all quiet. That was brilliant. In terms of the actual duel, not bad, not great.
-
The same cue has a great rendition of the theme at 2:45 - 3:20.

The Star Wars Trilogy version was not performed by the Boston Pops. I was talking about this release (Star Wars Saga actually, my mistake ) I don't like that version--the arrangment of Asteroid Field and Forest Battle are all off. Plus, they haven't selected some of the best cues.
