  1. It's about time, at least for the preview clips to be released. It's hard to wait much longer, as the release is so close now...
  2. So the quality of a score is determined by the number of leitmotives it features? Mind, I can't find any fault with the incredible Temple of Doom; I just question your criterion. Of course that's not the only criteria for me, but usually the themes and motifes of John Williams are very very good. That's the case in TOD and in almost all his other score i know ( i dont know his scores earlier than Star Wars 4). So the more themes and motives he composes for a score the better is the score for me in the end ( that also means you have a better developed underscore with themes and motives, more original material and usually more effort put into the score) Just look at WotW for example. It lacks its themes and doesn't work that well as a score because the memorability isn't given through the music anymore, just through the film. I do know that not all movies require memorable music but as a listening experience it's more fun with it than without. Another example would be AOTC. Just one new full developed beautiful Theme and three recurring motives occur (Kamino, Confederation, Arena). That's few for a Star Wars Film. Imagine if JW composed a fett theme, which would score the fight between Jango and Obi Wan or if he used an action motive instead of underscore for the Zam Wessel Chase. I hope you understand my point.
  3. In my opinion TOD is the best score out of the three Indy films. If you look carefully you realize that the most original music and the most themes and motives are in that soundtrack, in comparison to the others. I mean you get three new and fully developed main themes, tons of different motives (Pankot Palace, Mola Ram, Mine Car, Water Motif, Indian Mystery Motif, British Fanfare,...) and the newinterpretation of anything goes as well as the great cue for the Temple of Doom itself. So in terms of thematical richness it even surpasses LC as well as RotLA. I would also call TOD my favourite Indy Film, because its just 110 minutes pure dark fun and excitement. It's the perfect adventure for me. Of course the other two Indy Films are also great and have terrific Scores by our John Williams In terms of KotCS Soundtrack i think we all can be lucky to get such a large OST album, which is not alway the case (*pointing on TOD*)
  4. Jungle Chase is indeed shorter as the made up track times. But we get a longer "a whirl through academe" which for sure will also be an exciting action piece I just hope the preview clips are gonna released soon !!!
  5. The trailer is AMAZING and can still be seen at http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/04/29/new-in...t-do-you-think/ )))
  6. TPM is for sure not the best prequel nor AOTC. In my opinion FAR the best movie (and even better than Ep4 and 6) is ROTS. It has everything you want from a space opera. LOTS of action, GREAT Story and Drama, AMAZING effects, score and design. For me the wooden and stiffy dialogue belongs to starwars and is one of his identities. The OLD TRILOGY also has a lot of bad dialogue in it. You seem to forget that. If some of you say you cant watch the first 45 minutes of ROTS then it's truly not your film genre. If you dont like a fast paced, action oriented space battle and a fight and adventure in a spaceship don't watch Star Wars. If you can't stand the fact that this movie is made for kids AND adults (and therefore some humor is there with the droids which seems odd for adults but great for childs) it's just not your kind of film. So pls don't bash a movie you won't ever be able to care about. And Joey you said the story isn't good. What the hell do you mean with that. That would mean the whole backstory of Anakin Skywalkers turn to the dark side and the fall of the jedi is bad and that's just not the case. That is exactly the biggest strongpoint of ROTS. It has the best story out of probably all of the six starwars films. Fails a prequel like AOTC to deliver a great Star Wars film? NO of course not. You do have the stiffy and strange love story with bad dialogue which is not so entertaining at itself. But in all of those scenes you have the great locations, the planets, the world, for example the droids in the background that repair the window of padme's appartement, the space port of coruscant, the wonderful city of Theed, all the little details that bring the Galaxy of Star Wars to life. And as long as you can see those films over and over again and explore every time something new it's pure great vintage STAR WARS!!!
  7. That is a 2006 Game-Expansion, out for 2 years already. I just stumbled over the trailer and thought that the bit of music sounds very Williams and has the same epic scale as the alternate finale will have. I dont think that this piece can be found within the game files.
  8. Do you know the "Empire at War Forces of Corruption Trailer" ( Star Wars Computer game)? I think that in that trailer there are 12 seconds of that episode 2 finale cue. Of course you never know but they only used star wars music i know in that trailer except for that 12 seconds (appearing 00.20-00.32). So there is a huge possibility of being an unreleased piece. What's your opinion on that.
  9. Bear Mccreary does a really good job with battlestar galactica. Of course some of his pieces are just percussion or background music but some others are great to listen with their own developed themes and motives. What is special about this television composer is his use of a lot different types of music. He uses irish folk, heavy guitar reefs , classic orchestral music, songs and even some sort of blues. I can recommend the tracks Pegasus, Lords of Kobol, Roslin and Adama (With overwhelming last 30 seconds), One Year later and Black Market on Album 2 and Storming New Caprica, Violence and Variations, The Dance and Admiral and Commander on Album 3 Finally there is also a covered Bob Dillan song on the 3. Album with the title "All along the watchtower" which sounds great. If you dont know that composer just give him a chance. Of course he is no John Williams but he is good nevertheless.
  10. 1) Star Wars -- John Williams The score which got me interested in soundtracks and also was a big reason for me to become a starwars fan. So it easily makes the first place. 2) The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of the King -- Howard Shore Great, great soundtrack which perfectly hits the atmosphere of a fantasy movie. I chose Rotk because the first LotR Soundtrack was the cornerstone but not all themes existed in it. So Rotk is rated a step higher because it used all of the themes and motives developed for the earlier films. 3) The Lion King -- Hans Zimmer In my opinion the best work of Hans Zimmer and it doesnt sound as simple as most of his current soundtracks. I saw the film when i was 10 years old and i can remember that the music created such an emotion and atmosphere that you went out of the cinema completely overwhelmed and satisfied. Perfect movie for children and probably also very good for parents, adults. 4) Schindler's List -- John Williams Very good score, also often very sad. I have to admit that other John Williams scores (Jurassic Park, Prisoner of Azkaban, Temple of Doom) are even better for me personally but they didn't win the oscar . 5) Ben-Hur -- Miklos Rozsa Like before said great score for a even better movie
