SF1_freeze got a reaction from redishere in Harry Potter - The John Williams Soundtrack Collection 7CD boxset from La-La Land Records (2018)
My package arrived today. I was among the first few orders and was very lucky that customs procedure went fast.
Last year the Jurassic Box arrived in January and was stuck in customs for over 3 weeks.
Seems to be a bit of a lottery.

Not all people are emotionless saints, who never express their disappointment in a more extrovert way.
Better leave the forum world if you can't take something like that.

If someone looks forward to one theme that for this person was the best theme in this franchise and also the main theme of its main character and this theme doesn't appear at all there is every right to overreact!

I mean imagine RotJ dismissing the Imperial March and returning to the Imperial Motif and Death Star motif because the Empire is well represented with two thematic ideas already... wouldn't that also be a reason to overreact

    @Chen G.
I just reacted to the insulting post John made towards Mattris.
Someone has to, if the majority on this thread seems to not care anymore or even support such a behaviour.

And i bow to you Mattris, its a pleasure to read your well thought out and well articulated discussion points and arguments. And all that in the face of massive opposition and even nastiness by some posters in this thread.

John you are here on the JWFan forum, you should know what fans are...

Fans become fans because they love something. Of course they also have the right to be extremely disappointed or even hate something... the more you love the more you may hate...

Your suggestion seems to stop being a fan and don't give a crap... are you serious?

    This is absolutely serious.
Most Starwars fans i know (me included) think mostly the same like Mattris and are extremely dissapointed after TLJ.

But there is this also vocal other side of the fandom who seem to wear their pink Mickey Mouse glasses and consider everything Disney-Lucasfilm does pure gold... to each their own i guess

The facts of Starwars in decline speak for themselves!

Mattris is absolutely right in most of his points.
What you just posted is not only insulting, it's exactly the thing you criticise.

It seems you got no arguments left, you lost the discussion against the excellent points Mattris brought up and now you are like a whiny kid who can't accept that.

Mattris has brought you all the facts and arguments countless of times.
Sadly you still wear your pink glasses and fail to see the damage Disney has inflicted on Starwars since the Last Jedi debacle ...

The article's writer says that "Disney has recouped its investment" but fails to mention...

... the specific production and marketing costs of each film.
... the revenue figures from the "dozens of other Star Wars revenue streams"  (merchandise sales figures, licensing agreements, other forms of media, etc.)
... the massive cost of the "two Star Wars Lands under construction".
... that Disney doesn't receive all of the revenue from box office receipts. When all is said and done, it's safe to say they received around 60% of it.

That article did not prove that Disney has recouped its investment in Lucasfilm.

Mr. Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for comScore, said that "Solo still made a lot of money," and that "By any other measure Solo was a success, but in the realm of 'Star Wars' anything less than a grand slam home run is seen as a disappointment. So [that film] was held to a higher standard, no question, but that's because of how well the films have done even before Disney."

Mr. Dergarabedian is a spin doctor. Solo did not make "a lot of money". THE FILM LOST $200 MILLION DOLLARS. By any measure that matters, this is "seen as a disappointment". Solo's financial failure was an utter embarrassment for Kathleen Kennedy, who recently received a contract extension from Bob Iger... who took the blame for Solo's failure, citing "too much, too soon". Though he must be aware that the film's disastrous cinematic run (and financial decline with the other films*) is indicative of a major problem that fans and the general public have with what Disney Star Wars has turned out to be.

I never said that "Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm has been a total disaster on all fronts". It's their handling of Star Wars that has resulted in "total disaster" regarding public interest in the franchise.

    * TLJ made 1/3 less at the box office than TFA. Solo made 2/3 less than Rogue One, which made 1/2 that of TFA.

Who is we? All the other superficially/easily entertained kids who like the Transformer Movies and don't care, if a movie makes sense or not cause for them the backstory and worldbuilding is just there as an unimportant brainless backdrop?

People and especially fans of course do care deeply about that. If the stage is rotten, badly constructed and makes no sense at all no character story line can be taken serious.

Opinions like yours justify all the plot hole ridden lazy ass movies Hollywood produces nowadays. And people like you that are that superficially/easily entertained (because the characters are sooooo good) support this low class style of moviemaking. Shame on that!

I agree with a lot of Mattris points (as mentioned in the SOLO thread) and don't get yours at all Demodex...

I mean you said a few posts above regarding TLJ that "The story telling was fine to me and everyone I know."
Did you all read the novel Bloodline first before watching TLJ because without its shitty explanations on the backstory you have no clue about the real state of the galaxy during the films TFA and TLJ. (the crawls didnt explain a thing, they made it even more confusing)
How can the storytelling be fine if you need countless of tie in books (that no casual viewer will ever read) to get any idea whats going on in the galaxy.
It of course doesn't help that the explanations on the First Order, Resistance and New Republic are incredibly idiotic and moronic and are easily reaching SW parody level.

It also didn't leave a good impression that you avoided all the valid discussion points about the trainwreck of a backstory and worldbuilding of TLJ.
So i guess you just don't care for movies going deeper and making sense within itself and more importantly within a franchise of 7 previous films...

To be honest, Mattris is right in a lot of his points about TLJ. And he didnt even mention all the issues i had with the political backstory and worldbuilding, which made no sense at all too.
In fact your only response to all my points was to read a lackluster book called bloodlines where there is an incredible stupid explanation for the New Republic fiasco.

Why call people crazy instead of starting a serious discussion about the countless points that have been brought up?
Probably you dont want to admit that most of the posted issues that people have with TLJ and to a lower extent TFA are REAL.

Now it seems you dont have any arguments left and your only way out is to dismiss all those who have another opinion than you. (or you dont reply at all)

FFS, obviously a fan cares...THATS WHY HE IS A FAN.
Otherwise he would be a moviegoer like you who ultimately doesnt care and only wants to be superficially entertained, because its just a stupid lame movie.

You even seem to imply that people should stop being fans of something... if there were no fans Hollywood could kiss their money goodbye. They need people who watch their films 3-4 times.

People like you are the reason Hollywood got lazy and stopped caring to write scripts without a myriad of plotholes. For people like you the superficial entertainment is enough, films dont have to make sense even within their own franchise.
Its a sad time for cinema....
