That's like saying that the movie is vintage Star Wars. Neither of the two is.

The recording on the "Be Glad Then, America" CD is not conducted by Williams. It's a re-recording conducted by Lt. Col. Jason K. Fettig, and is available for free as an MP3 on the President's Own web site:

He's also conducted at least two concerts with the Band, one in 2003 to celebrate its 205th anniversary and again in 2008 to celebrate its 210th anniversary (which I attended).

The Chicago Symphony has released their 2017/18 schedule and John Williams is returning to conduct a series of concerts on April 26-29, 2018.

The "Movie Night" concert for Sunday Sept 3rd has been removed from the limited summer schedule. Wonder if it's in anticipation for announcing another 3-day weekend of JW concerts?

Maybe Disney, with some arm twisting, might consider licensing the Star Wars or Indiana Jones scores to an independent label on the proviso they restrict units to 5000 and release the rights to their work once their stock is exhausted.
 
It's a win win. Disney get a smaller label to do the research, restoration and assembly of the set (then secure the digital and release rights to their work once sold out). In return, LLL/Intrada get the publicity and prestige of producing the set and first bite of the profits.

It has been performing a lot of video game music in the 2000's. Here is their discography.
 
I think Marco Beltrami has used the ensemble for his scores, e.g. Hellboy.

Imagine if you were in the audience waiting for the concert to start and suddenly JW sits down beside you.

The second half of the "End Credits" on the 1977 album is tracked from "TV Reveals" and "Roy and Gillian on the Road". The "End Credits" on the 1998 album is the original cue as composed by Williams. Simple as that.
 
The only real thing left up for debate is whether "Inside the Mothership" was re-recorded for CD or not, although to my ears, the Boston Pops track sounds nearly identical to the film version

I just got a call from BSO asking me to join their membership program, and they told me Film Night in Boston this year will be May 31 and June 1, with tickets on sale to the public February 13. Tickets for members go on sale on Mr. Williams' birthday  
 
These dates are a Wednesday and Thursday, which may be difficult for those who are traveling. I may end up having to do Tanglewood, myself.

I cant believe hard core fans here have not listened to all released Williams' OSTs.
 
I mean when i started my collection i went on a frenzy of getting everything available. And when something was not (ie out of print), well, there were other means.
 
How can anyone not have wanted to search for more Williams music...for 20-30 years!
