  1. If I had to choose a single piece of music over all others, it would be this particular track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szcQgfNEAdo
  2. Have you guys ever heard of Nier? It's a fairly recent JRPG. Without playing the game, I listened to the soundtrack, and it has become my favourite soundtrack from any game. Ever. Listen to these two tracks. Snow In Summer Song the Ancients (Devola)
  3. This was just released. Seems like it's being saved for the Deluxe version.
  4. This is possibly the most beautiful thing to ever come out of a videogame.
  5. I too am quite underwhelmed. That interview where Zimmer said that his head was teeming with ideas for this movie was all rubbish, then. It's basically the scores from the previous 2 plus the addition of Catwoman + Bane themes. And an overemphasis on the "Escalation" theme from TDK. The disappointment from the samples has actually worked in my favour; I am now NOT over-hyped for this movie! I am free from the bonds of hype! But still, let's hope that the rest of the score does something new and interesting.
  6. This is possibly the best action I've ever heard by Zimmer. Such an incredible build-up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8-XarUUxM0 But then again.... nothing comes close to King of Pride Rock; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szcQgfNEAdo
  7. TDKR's trailer is quite a different ball game from TDK's first theatrical trailer. TDK focused on what everyone was waiting for: The Joker. They shoved him in our faces, and we swallowed him up whole, and everyone was happy. Glad to see that they didn't do the same with Bane; movie audiences aren't exactly clamouring for him. This trailer gives us more of the "grand picture", and I'm VERY intrigued by what I see. They produced the mysterious vibe quite well!
  8. Yeah, definitely a reference. But really, considering the quality of the entire score, Zimmer is easily forgiven. "To Die For" is one of those cues that, when listened to outside of the movie, triggers off such a devastating emotional reaction. Does this happen to anyone else?
  9. If you believe that videogame music will never reach the standards of film scoring, you probably should listen to this piece from Metal Gear Solid 4. This is perhaps the most sorrowful atmosphere I've ever heard in a piece of gaming music. It reminds me of "Remembering Munich" from Munich. Metal Gear Solid 4 - Love Theme If you want something a bit more powerful and orchestrated, check out this piece from Shadow of the Colossus Shadow of the Colossus - The Opened Way http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3PRXFLJYcw
  10. Just saw the movie. SPOILERS!!!! END SPOILERS Please use spoiler tags function. Thanks, the Mod Staff.
  11. Dammit, I had hoped that A Swan Song was used in the final scene instead of the credits. It's absolutely terrifying, and I had hoped that the ending would be that moody.
  12. How come no one talks about Black Swan's score? The two tracks "Perfection" and "A Swan Song (For Nina)" are fantastic. A Swan Song has got to be the creepiest thing I've heard all year. It really got to me. To anyone who has seen the movie, is that particular track played in the final scene or the credits?
  13. Return of the King At World's End (easily my favourite of the 3, thanks to the score) The Bourne ultimatum Metal Gear Solid 3 (the only game to ever make me shed manly tears) Prisoner of Azkaban
  14. I'm going to get flamed to hell for this, but: "One Day" - Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
  15. Watch the World Burn sounds reallllllly different!
  16. The credits song is called "Here's to You". Does anyone know what movie it's from? BTW, this is the greatest soundtrack for a game I've ever heard, but I refuse to hear "Here's to You" until I hear it in the game first. Harry Gregson-Williams composed the game's cutscene music, for your information.
  17. Overall, the first. Though, the MGS2 and MGS3 Main Themes are far better. "Debriefing" in MGS3 was nothing short of epic. That said, The Best is Yet to Come is still the best track in the series. However, seeing the sheer magnitude of "Love Theme" and "Old Snake" from the MGS4 trailers, I'm sure MGS4 will triumph.
  18. Dang. I was really hoping for Cuaron + Williams, or at least Del Toro + Williams. Such a shame. I a vision of Chapter 34 being played out in my head. It's the part where Harry walks slowly to Voldemort, after realising that he must die. I had always imagined the second half of "Anakin's Dark Deeds" playing, while Harry takes his slow, mournful walk. With Yates, it would probably be a shaky-cam 5 second shot of him walking briskly.
  19. It seems to garner a lot of hate, and is possibly linked to Hans Zimmer, from what I've seen.
  20. That choral bit, when Luke screams and charges Vader. THAT part. I love that!
  21. Maybe in a concert, or special soundtrack, or something? Those few seconds aren't enough
  22. Sad, sad news indeed. To honour him, watch The Dark Knight in Gold Class, please.
  23. I love Zimmer's work. It's that melodramatic style that has me shaking. That said, I respect Williams more for his career. Is that a fair statement?
