I listened to Arrival at Tatooine on the UE.
I could swear the opening statements of Jar-Jar's theme there are tracked. It fits exactly with the OST from what I found.
-
I would assume that like in the cartoon version, some of the music will be tracked in but then there will be a lot of new material.
I would prefer it if "The Arena" and "Boun ty Hunter's Pursuit" weren't the only ones this time around though. Include some TPM or Revenge of the Sith!
-
Ah, well. For more completeness I've edited it into my set, as well as the film version of the Battle of Coruscant Suite (The solo War Drums were reassembled from both front channel and rear channel DVD rip, though I won't tell you how I got it - what with it being against board rules)
If you do rip the DVD for the film suite (if you want your edit to be as complete as possible) I would recommend overlapping the rear channel's taiko drums over the Battlefront II rip of Boys into Battle so they sound as even as possible. I may post a low-quality sample of it. Though people here seem to be pretty 'anti-film version', so I doubt many of you would have the film suite in your edit.
I'm going to work on stuff with the aid of a Battlefront II PS2 rip and GoodMusician's earlier Episode III edit I found where someone else had posted it and claimed it's theirs. However if I did release a complete Episode III score, it would be GoodMusician's name under the credits, not mine (for those who think I'd rip him off, no chance. I don't believe in doing that sort of thing, or my TPM edit would have been all his and none of my work. That is something that I have seen on Tomb Raider Level Editor forums)I'm also going to see what I can do with the tracked stuff from TPM/AotC.
EDIT: I see lordskylark is back, but I wonder if he was ordered to remove the FTP... if it has, we should be told sooner rather than later.
GoodMusician's edit should have already incorperated all of the BF2 PS2 rip that I gave to him.
Yeah. I got mine off FFShrine so it's incomplete. I'd like to know how to do it though so I can complete it. Though better not discuss that in the thread since that's DVD ripping discussion.
-
Exactly. Which was part of the reason I thought a AotC UE should have been released - for the previously unreleased TPM stuff.
-
What would you prefer? Sony is far too "They hated the TPM UE so we won't release any more so-called completed scores". I see it like this. Edits such as these are statements to Sony to get off their backsides and release the material.

I had a look into the film version of "Boys into Battle". Material here:
BF2 boys_into_battle_2 1:15.5-1:19
BF2 boys_into_battle_2_PC 1:18.5-1:19.5
in the film is war-drum-less.
And the version of "Battle of the Heroes" that appears in-film has a loop of a certain part but this loop is choirless.
-
heh... the internet is real picky like that.
Out of curiosity, when are you putting Episode III back up? I had to get rid due to limited Hard Drive space (and it was the one I told you about so it's likely out of date anyway)
-
GoodMusician, the MP3 link for the new "Droids Confer" track does not work.
-
Without word from John Williams himself where that cue goes, I'm afraid we can only go on what we know. I personally believe that goes to the bit between the Droid Invasion and Intro Jar-Jar where Obi-Wan is being chased by the STAPs, and Qui-Gon deflects their fire. It seems to fit perfectly for that scene.
-
Hey all...I... I think I may have discovered something.
I think I may have finally figured out where that famed "Run in with Jar Jar" track goes...
I'll post a link when it's ready.
I thought it might go somewhere after the Droid Invasion is finished but before the cue Introducing Jar-Jar begins.
-
I've listened to it. I couldn't believe he got the tracked music 100% absolutely correct! There's one tracked piece missing but that's actually irrelevant (about 10 seconds long from "Search for Shmi" but to be honest the track sounds a lot better without the tracked bit in it)
I'd strongly recommend this edit to anyone and everyone who's a fan of Williams. It's the best AotC score I've heard in a long time.
Once again, a brilliant effort, GoodMusician.
-
Not true. There's about a minute of music missing from the scene which Smith realises his prediction is coming true. On the album that segues straight from where Smith smashes Neo to the ground to "You were right Smith". There's also alternative orchestrations of Neodammerung and Navras.
But that discussion isn't really for this thread.
-
Well at least they didn't just DL it and claim it's all theirs. They gave a link to it in my FFShrine thread and even mentioned me. How very considerate.
Although I did recommend that they listen to other sets too. Not just mine. Mine's not the full picture, and probably won't be for a while - I'm relying only on what I can download since I cannot rip form games I don't have (save Jedi Power Battles - I can't rip from that period)
I'll probably stop doing these after I finish completely with TPM anyway (Although I quite fancy doing a complete Matrix Revolutions score at some point, but that's not for here). AotC sounded like a nightmare for GoodMusician to do.
EDIT: Listening to the AotC Edit now. Sounds amazing. Sony should definately have done something like this. In fact, I doubt Sony could top this.
-
I listened to the Battle of Naboo III in the Phantom Menace UE (The Battle Rages On, disc 2) and it appears that the version of this track has a slightly different instrumentation, and a different ending that was missed from "The Republic Pilots Take Off". The ending of this cue misses the final timpani hit, but there is only a clean ending in-film at the end of the scene where the Federation Pilots begin the fight (It ducks out after "Fighters, straight ahead!")
-
This is... wow. I think nobody can top this at all. This looks really good.
-
You all know about the missing piece in the opening of "Droid Fight," right?
It should go: Do-do dooo, do-do dooo, do-do do-do do-do dododo, ::lukes theme::
Its only available on the star wars website in the mashups music, which means it's only available in mono. If you listen carefully on the UE, you can kinda hear how it was omitted.
I did manage to hear (after a few listens) what seems to be an artificial segue between the opening measures of the cue and the rest of the cue. I do wonder why it was omitted though. I suppose Lucas felt one or the other would do. Hence why you can't hear this part in the video games since VGs rarely use the actual movie music (save for LEGO Star Wars).
-
I wonder if now this thing will ever get back on topic... <_<
Updated my track list.
BTW, GM, do you have a blog? On FFShrine in my SW Soundtracks thread I got posted a link to an edit that is definitely your TPM edit.
-
Lucas.
I don't think his hacking of the prequel scores is done by lack of respect,i think Lucas doesn't realise what he's doing.
Exactly.
-
You can happily steal my edit
It took no more that 20 minutes after finding the right percussion (Some I substituted - like timpani hits were subsituted sometimes by material from TPM Bubble World) -
I worked on an enhanced TPM track list a while back, but when I found tons of new material for my 'complete' score, I abandoned this list. Now I've returned to finish this list. It is NOT the way my score is set out, but is the way an 'Expanded' score would be set out.
I've replaced stuff that was from lower-quality files (namely Jedi Power Battles and TPM Video Game), though there may still be a couple of mistakes I didn't find.

Stuff noted with a * before the location/track/times is stuff I have exclusively, either from the Battlefront II PS2 rip on FFShrine or from a rip of TPM DVD. I'll send copies of this stuff to anyone who needs it (not a link to the material on FFShrine since A - you need to be a member to see links, and B - the rip lists each track like 000-star_wars_battlefront_ii_oga.mp3 - of course, if you like figuring out what is what, then I'll gladly send you the link, but why waste the hours I spent trying to understand what each track has in it?

I made the tracked music for my AotC Edit. The edits are very jarring, and it was a difficult task to find the percussion for the track transitions.
-
Having heard both your previous prequel edits, I think this will be quite good.
Would you be doing the tracked TPM stuff in there (Jedi vs Droid/The Battle of Geonosis)
-
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (I hope he does return to do these two films (if Spielberg is hired as planned, then it'll be two films, and most likely Williams will score, having worked with Spielberg in the past)
 Spielberg is "planned" to direct DH? Please evaluate.
It was in the Daily Express (British newspaper if you don't know) a week ago, under "Harry Potter and the Film of Two Halves". Apparently, the producers are trying to get Spielberg into the final film.
The Express is a very reliable source (if it appeared in a newspaper like the Sun I wouldn't have taken it seriously, but I happen to trust the Express)

I'm just fiddling with the tracks a bit more. It seems the clean transition from the first chord to the snare roll for Anakin Defeats Sebulba can be found in a DVD rip of AotC. I'm also working off the theory that Battle of Naboo I (aka Courtyard Crossfire) is a separate cue from Laser Fight March (after hearing that the Laser Fight march is always separate whenever I hear it save when it is in Jedi Power Battles and Obi-Wan VG seems to have a clean ending for BoN1)
