Happy Birthday, Maestro!

igger6 got a reaction from Falstaft in New article on JW on Variety: 'The Fabelmans' confirmed, recording next month
No, it's definitely gonna be "The Fabelmans Scene."

We need a poll.

Long after both JW and I myself are dead, people will still be finding original spins on "I know, but they're all dead."
P.S. Unrelated: is the BPO recording of Jurassic Park now the definitive version of that suite? Methinks perhaps. The opening horn is a little weird, but I love the tempo!

Is it William Ross?
The ten last copies of the JP/TLW expansion?
All the dead composers?

igger6 got a reaction from Tom Guernsey in John Williams & Berliner Philharmoniker 14th/15th/16th Oct 2021
Good call, @Tom Guernsey! Just picked up the Blu-Ray edition there for $37 out the door. Amazon has it for $47, but I'm not an enthusiast of store-killing monopolists. Thanks!

No, I think that is where he talked extensively about his early scores, his thoughts on the complete release of the music of the Star Wars films, the incident that caused him to almost leave the pops, and his true thoughts on JJ Abrams and Zimmer.

Indeed. Presumably, they come with John Williams himself.

igger6 reacted to GerateWohl in 3 Williams tracks on the 12 Cellos album "As Time Goes By"
That's nice. At first I was a little disappointed by the Harry Potter piece, as I was looking forward to a pure cello arrangement and no clarinet. But the other two are great.

The 60s scores have been out of print for a while, perheps we'll get a box of some of these?

These won't change your life, but they're nice guitar covers with fewer views than they deserve. Check 'em out!

igger6 reacted to Docteur Qui in Scherzo For Motorcycle and Orchestra (revised)
The end credits version is a different recording, it's much faster. To the point where it's jarring to listen to the actual cue afterwards because it feels glacial in comparison. Same thing with Scherzo for X-Wings.
John Williams and insane tempo inconsistencies, name a more iconic duo (looking at you, Jurassic Park theme).

Every time the discussion about one of these revised pieces ramps up, I wish for some highly musically literate person to create an infographic that lays out and color-codes the different sections of each piece by theme, instrument group, etc. I’m not capable of doing it myself, but if I were a 17th-century Prussian duke, this would totally be one of the targets of my aristocratic patronage.

Hmm, I must have a word with him.

Too much info!
I think it's a fun reimagining, but I don't want it to replace the original concert arrangement. They should coexist. Has JW withdrawn the original arrangement?

I demand an album of various A-list artists' interpretations of Training Montage in as many different musical genres as possible.
Including jazz trio, baroque and solo tuba version.
This must happen.

I know there have been tracks like that since then but the one that is standing out in my mind right now is Building the Crate from Chicken Run. By John Powell.
